One of those JGTC supras #38 FK/Massimo, is now abandoned and never restored, we don’t know who is gonna be this insane to restore it with help, so stay tuned for more of it
Oh, that sucks. With the values of nostalgic JDM machinery on the rise though I wouldn't be surprised if a collector picks it up for restoration in the future.
Good race! Ralph Firman at his zenith; good fight for 2nd in GT500; three different makes on the podium for GT300. Compared to the 2003 vids you uploaded, these 2002 recaps have a larger emphasis on the race, though I miss the interviews and pre-race details.
Yeah, its funny seeing all these familiar drivers before they went on to other things and got more famous like Andre Lotterer and Benoit Treluyer before they won Le Mans multiple times lol.
Yes, originally the GT-Rs used the RB26, even the R34 but come 2002 they switched to the VQ30 V6 because it offered better packaging and a lower center of gravity. It became really important in 2003 when the new rules allowed Nissan to change the suspension design and lower the front end for better aerodynamics. After 2003 they switched to the Fairlady Z which carried over the V6 but then they switched to a V8 for the R35 GT-R in 2008 and then a turbo I4 in 2014 when Super GT adopted similar engine rules to DTM.
This is at TI Circuit Aida, now known as Okayama International Circuit. It was built as a private race track in the 90s so it's not as well known as other Japanese tracks like Suzuka or Fuji but it did host F1 races at one point and is still a regular fixture in Super GT and Super Taikyu.
damn do you happen to know what channel/program this was on? I can't find anything online but I knew I could've sworn that jgtc was on aussie tv. Though this also sounds like it could be new zealand
its like watching a gran turismo 3 replay
Gran Turismo is what got me interested in the JGTC in the first place! :)
@@23gt17Same thanks alot to them
@@23gt17Meanwhile for me, it's different... Forza Motorsport 1. I also got the glimpse of those cars alongside the Speed GT World Challenge cars.
So many JGTC legends here in one video 💕
Yup, that's why I'm glad I saved the video all those years ago :)

Not really, it would be too expensive
@@Taniel_Rikkiarado that was a completely different chassis the one that is abandoned is from the 1998 season
Great commentary! Not sure its live, but better than the usual Japanese commentary
It was added later in the edited format but yeah, way better than the original Japanese for us foreigners :)

3.0 V6 in skylines?😮I always thought they used RB26 in JGTC. Didn't they switch to V8 one or two years later though?
