Contestants: Anne Wolski & Randy Byrd vs Noe Reyes & Marco Torres. Playing Games: Major Havoc, Marvin's Maze, Change Lanes, Elevator Action, Snake Pit. Grand Prize: Super Zaxxon Video Arcade Game.
@ No, but at the time I had my VCR hooked up to a 32 inch Vizio TV, as it had an AV input. Now I use a CRT TV from 1995, as the 32 inch has gotten more and more laggy as time went on.
I've wondered if one of you folks still has copies of few of the test pilots? you know, the one with Mike Eruzione of KRON from 1981 and 3 NBC pilots with Alex Trebek from 1982? People were speculating that it was lost from existence, but is that true? because it turns out that there's still some copies of either of the pilots (KRON or few NBC pilots) exists somewhere thanks to some images that i've looked. (unless that was hidden in JM's archives for a very long time which that's the case.) Deapite my questions, i've enjoyed seeing those Starcades episodes and i'm hoping to see some more like these soon!
Mavis, can you share any anecdotes from being on set? This was a unique time and I'm sure the logistics of running such a show would have been very different than other game shows. For example, The top prize seemed to vary considerably in quality; from a full cabinet high profile arcade game down to the Aquarius, which was only in production for a few months. No need to share if you don't want to, of course, but there's probably more than a few of us interested. Thanks!
Yes, I'll take you behind-the-scenes of a Starcade taping ... I will post it here when it's ready. FYI, the Grand Prize was always a Video Arcade Game or a Jukebox or a Robot or a trip to Hawaii. The Aquarius Computer was given to the Overall Winner on some shows. We had the manufacturers permission to give away as the Grand Prize ANY video arcade game without exception ... the Games were the stars of Starcade ... __Mavis, Co-Creator/Executive Producer/Writer
Thanks I added it to the in order playlist. Do you have episodes 24-33? Those are the big ones missing from the list. Hope you're well, thanks again. ua-cam.com/play/PLf9MGHQuJoh7T5CoxrdqQ3l2n5WkC9y7t.html&si=8dgZSXKXznSGSOJs
When we changed Hosts, we skipped ahead in our numbering ... so Episode #023 was Mark Richards last show -- Episode #034 was Geoff Edwards first show...don't ask me why we did that...it seemed like a good idea ... at the time.__Mavis, Co-Creator/Executive Producer/Writer
@@starcadetvv I might be able to answer that. It appears that you guys ran episodes 24-33 twice during the season. Episode #24 ended up re-airing as episode #72 for example. I'm assuming it was a way to fulfill the required number of episodes for the season order.
I think I do have a partial episode of Starcade on VHS, recorded from G4 on November 8, 2022, 10 days before the network shut down.
You still had a working VCR in 2022?
@@FUGP72 Yep. Even now I still have a working VCR.
@@spottieleonard IS it hooked up to a 2K TV?

This is Awkward Gold. 🥇

I watched one of the Trebek ones on a website a long while ago. It exists in some kind of digital format somewhere.
Loved it!
Nine seconds! That's like a STARCADE! record!
I love how they run to the studio. I bet 90% of contestants in todays game shows could not do that.
Shows how inactive we've become.
I wish they'd bring back this show. Gen X'er here. I'd love to be a contestant.
Where are the rest of the episodes?
At 3.22, did that kid mouth what the mystery game was? Additionally he picked it right after.
loved it

Yeah, the points inflation with Change Lanes meant playing the other games was superfluous. It was impossible for them to catch up. Kinda ridiculous.
cool
Major Havoc was Space Invaders, Lunar Lander and Berzerk all rolled into one. But the controls were awful.
major havoc
yes
