    Super informitive without the frills and just the right amount of dry humor. You got your thumbs up and subscription here.

    Ooh I really like this! I've been looking for something to make my boyfriend for his AA chips and I think this might be it! I love the space for the flat coin!

    Thank for the video! I will probably make one like this soon. I like the tip about taping scraps to your sled to make a quick jig!

    There are an amazing variety of thicknesses diameters and materials used in coins from around the world.
    Some Irish coins from my childhood were giants. The 1960s Half Crown ( A delightful coin featuring a horse) was one of the biggest and thickest coins I ever used. In contrast issued small coins in thin aluminium, or even plastic! It's an interesting contrast.

    Nicely done my friend. That walnut pops. I think those oak dowels really add to the overall look.

    How would you make this so it can sit flat, what would the angle of the cuts be? thanks

      I'd start at 90 degrees. However, make a test piece with a scrap of plywood to determine the best width of the slot for your needs. You don't want the coins to be perfectly straight up and down, but also not tilt back too much. Once you figured out the perfect slot width on the scrap, you're safe to go with it on the final workpiece.

    Nice project. You gave me some ideas for displaying some other items. You say you won't bore me by showing your sanding technique, but you do bore me by making be watch you brush on finish. What I prefer is to see a bit of each just so I can appreciate both. You don't have to beat either one to death, just show enough so I know what you are doing and how you are doing it. And please show it in real time. Speeded up video is just so frantic and I wind up being exhausted by the end. LOL.

      I appreciate your insights. However, the sped up video is for many reasons, reasons I have learned the hard way. Granted, it doesnt appeal to everyone, but if I lengthened the videos, my viewers would go way down. I do try, however, to show anything other than basic techiques at slower speeds. I appreciate you watching and taking the time to comment.

      I am sorry to hear that is the case. I guess I am not typical as I regularly watch videos that are two to three times as long as this one. I know that you cannot adjust your productions to please just one person and that won't keep me from watching. Your videos are entertaining and educational. Thank you for sharing.

    This is an awesome design! Just wondering, with the angle of the blade and spacer, did it create an uneven groove in the bottom of the holder channels? Just curious how you achieved a polished look at the end. Great work!

    What angle is this?

    • @FranklinWoodWorks2016
      @FranklinWoodWorks2016  3 роки тому

      You know, I'm not sure. And it's not around for me to measure it. But I will say that I have made several a different angles, some pretty steep. The most important angle is that of the grooves in relation to the surface the display will sit on.

      @@FranklinWoodWorks2016 obviously you mentioned it’s not around any more but do you remember the approximate dimensions of your flat piece?

    Instructions unclear. Somehow I built a boat.
