How to create a succulent garden. Step by step guide to creating an outdoor succulent garden. I'm starting an experimental succulent garden outdoors which is in a zone 6 mountain village. I want to see if it is possible for a succulent garden to survive a winter here in the mountains without having to overwinter the plants indoors. Quite a lot to ask of the plants, but I love pushing limits. I plan to give them some protection with harvest cloth in the coldest months but nothing else. I have not planted a huge amount of plants since this is an experiment. Depending on the results next spring I can opt to add plants or change direction. It should be fun!
