Update: As I read this chapter again and reading the comments there’s actually more I did and didn’t like that I never touched on. 1. I didn’t like how there were a lot of unresolved plot lines, like the Todoroki family. Felt like it was Hori leaving the door open for a sequel but if your ending your 10 year old manga, wrap everything in the original series. 2. I still think Deku getting the suit is wack but the more I think about it, it feels like Hori giving Deku the scraps from All Mights arc by giving him that suit. Might make a video to follow up on this line of thinking 3. I did like how Midoriya was able to inspire and motivate that kid with the same line All Might gave him all those years ago. Felt like a really nice call back to bring everything full circle. Might update this as I think of more things thank you for watching!
What’s confusing is, that the whole premise of the show was how deku becomes the number one hero. That’s a goal like Naruto becoming hokage, or luffy getting one piece. It’s not “subverting expectations” to make him lose his powers. It’s never firing chekovs gun for the entirety of the story.
I respect your opinion but I feel like you guys are taking things too much into face value, class 1-A didn't abandon Deku, it's just that they're very busy with hero work, especially Uraraka, Shoto, Bakugo and Iida (who were the closest to him and the only people he hung out with most of the times) They're still in contact and are still pretty much friends, it's just that they don't get to meet each other too much irl. Deku is also a busy man, and his breaks didn't coallign with the others, that's literally it, and it doesn't go any deeper than that. Otherwise it would've been mentioned. And I don't see how Deku losing his quirk makes him any less of a good character, him losing it shows actual consequences after the final fight and it's not the typical "the main character ends the series with having godly powers, a girlfriend, and being omega rich". I just feel like Deku losing his quirk and accepting it shows his maturity and how much he was willing to sacrifice in order to save others. And to be honest if Deku managed to get his quirk back at the final chapter it would've been out of nowhere and pretty bad narratively. I find the idea of class A saving up in order for Deku to somehow become a hero really beautiful and very symbolic, they all care about him and clearly want the best for him. If Deku got his quirk back, it would've been "cool" but nothing deeper than that. Now I do have some criticism for this chapter and the epilogue, it's that a lot was left unexplained and not talked about. For example, Uraraka's feelings for Deku should've gotten addressed especially with how much it was important to the plot, but it feels to me like Hori abandoned the idea after seeing how toxic the fandom can be when it comes to shipping discourse. But cutting a plot point from the story like that is bad writing honestly. And the student's quirk awakenings, like why give them such power ups only for us not to see them using them every again in the series, there should've been a chapter or two dedicated to them having some sort of match like the sports festival honestly. Uraraka's quirk awakening is still comfusing and I really would've loved to see her using it too. So yep, this was my opinion, ofc feel free to disagree, I'm open to hearing opinions ^^
I appreciate this comment! I never got around to it in the video but yeah there was a lot of unresolved plot lines that never really got closure that I feel is Hori gearing up for a sequel. But at the same time I wish he just wrapped everything up here. Very complicated feelings surrounding the ending but glad he got to end on his terms!
@@KingEaglez29 uh didnt they all save the world...? also doesn't being a hero I mean in the chapter they literally said why they're so busy Todoroki literally works from day in and day out, Ochako is going around japan to instate quirk management in schools and Shoji being a activist/hero They work so much that the crime percent went down even more than when allmight was still being a hero so yes... their busy lol
Every fandom is toxic with shipping. No excuse to just abandon fucking story plot cause of it. Otherwise why is anyone in business? Also nah this ending was retarded. I heard rumors of him losing his quirk long time ago, and I told people he’s only losing it for sequels cause well shit you CANNOT HAVE A SEQUAL with a character this super powerful… in any sequels. But why do a sequel this story would have ended perfectly? Also.. nah I hate how this entire show ended in basically 1 year is just disguising. I’m highly disappointed with this series.
lmao. idk, mha was a generic average whatever show. I don't really know anybody in my life who talks about or reads mha anymore because the war was super boring. It just feels like a safe show where only the bad guys die and the good guys win and everybody is happy at the end and whatever who cares. Not an especially profound experience.
i don't think Deku losing OFA is a "terrible narrative decision", i definitely don't 100% agree with it either but it makes sense narratively for OFA and AFO to be put to rest, and let the next generation carry on. Deku completed OFA like he was fated to do and destroyed AFO as the quirk's purpose. i do still wish he got SOMETHING, whether it was a fusion of the 2 or something new because it does feel wrong to make him powerless after following him struggle and grow the entire series, just to give him a suit that kinda goes against a lot of what the series talked about (basically don't rely on support items).
fr, they just can't hang out ALL the time because they're adults right out of high school and that's just real life lol? and the fact they all funded his suit proves they didn't ditch him
Haven't even watched the video yet tbh (not brushing you off or anything like that) but there's like 90% gonna be a movie or a spinoff series. Also there's a "true final volume" coming in December or something I hear.
so... his friends putting all their money together to get him the hero suit so he could be with them is still fake? also the ending gives us reasons on why the characters don't have time, with ochako going around japan to instate the quirk management in schools and bakugo being a pro hero and then kirishima being a hero/tv personality, Shoji becoming a quirk activist and hero so I doubt any of the other characters don't have a equally time taking jobs with mineta probably becoming a P star🤷so it makes total sense on why they don't have time to be with deku whos just a teacher, I mean look at the teachers at UA, unless you're a teacher you're not going to be at UA unless it the sports festival and if you're a hero you don't exactly have time to be meeting up with civilians. And even if that wasn't so how many people are still bestfriends/friends and even people who were kinda just aquantinces from highschool (Like Tokoyami,Jirou and Sato) and even then they say its pretty hard for them to see deku not that they don't see each other at all!! Almost forgot to add that the heroes are clearly busy because the crime rate has gone down so substancioully that only a few people are able to become heroes now. Also narrativley losing one for all makes so much sense, it as made to beat all for one and now that all for one is gone the quirk has no reason to exist. Also the protoshey thing is still there with allmight also be a civilian so yeah at the beginning of the story they both have one for all and at the end no one does because its purpose was achieved... But yeah that's all I gotta say, thinking the ending Is going to be trash probably scewed your outlook on it, MHA wasnt a bad or underwhelming story nor had a bad ending and I mean you kinda have to agree cause you stuck with it until the ending.
Vigilantes was better in my opinion I agree with you on deku he's already not the strongest character and him having one for all is what kinda made him passable for me. I think the series feel apart when deku started communicating with the past users. He should of just lost all of the vestiges and other quirks and just got nerfed. But now he's just an Ironman esc guy. IDK the ending for deku just kinda cements in my mind that he's not a very good protagonist
I hopped off MHA after the abysmal license arc. Have been popping my head in after season 5 and the series seemed to fall off. Hopefully the animators change stuff
Season 5 was truly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had watching anime 😂. From what I’ve seen with this new season they are taking my least favorite content from the manga and are actually making it a little better in the anime
this maybe a hot take but personally I think it would have been a much bigger impact to the story if shiga and deku both got killed off together, leaving proof they want the world together to get better, or just not have him stripped of his powers. I get that this route taken is to show Deku has matured as a character to accept things aren't meant to be, but given he gets it back after 8 years, while stating his friends don't see him much these days, it just comes off as depressing. Even if he matured and grew to accept things for what they are....he got robbed of his dreams now twice, just to give him it back a third time where its even more possible he loses it again. At least if they made him follow Uraraka's path of counseling that would be completely in line for him character wise, while supporting the very much established feelings they have for one another, especially when Deku himself admits hero's aren't needed as much anymore. Killing him off also would make sense since his friends would do their best to be the best hero's they can be, for his sake
At this point I’ve just come to accept that I think Hori liked making Deku suffer. I like your line of thinking though that’s an angle I never even thought of for how this all could have gone. Thanks for checking out the video!
traveling around the entirty of japan and putting in place a quirk managaent system does seem to be quite time consuming... also it wasn't implied they were dating just good friends...
Okay im so so mad about the whole todoroki family storyline too? Like endeavour has faced no consequences. We have gotten no news on whats happening with touya/dabi, rei being written to now become the care taker for her abuser?? Thats disgusting. Shoto hasn't been allowed to have any kind of emotional breakdown which lets be real is definitely needed given the sheer amount of stress he was under. Its almost like horikoshi just gave up halfway through. There was SO MUCH POTENTIAL and he just threw it all away? We could have seen a panel of natsuos wedding maybe, or fuyumi and shoto helping rei move into her own apartment where shes finally free, we could have had development on shoto and touyas relationship. Literally anything else would have sufficed. Im so mad
It’s stuff like this that makes me feel like there’s gonna be a sequel announcement but I don’t want that. The manga has been going on 10 years wrap everything up in the original series
@@RenTheHen no I understand perfectly I've pretty much lived his life, I've had very very similar experiences so that's why I am so frustrated with how the storyline for them has "ended" because there is no justice
no consequences?? he's lost an arm, retired as a hero, can no longer walk and is taking the brunt of all the backlash of his actions (deserved obviously), not to mention he has to love with his guilt and sins for the rest of his life. if you wanna think he didn't face enough, then fair but saying he faces non is very disingenuous. and for Rei, i've seen this a lot and she's a grown woman who can make her own choices, and in her eyes she shares almost as much blame for Toya as Endeavor, so her sticking with him makes sense in the context of her character. the rest just feels like stuff you wanted to see which is fine but it's weird to say it was wasted potential and act like it makes the ending worse, when a lot of this can just be filled in by the readers.
@@aka_nobodyy I'm talking more about what horikoshi has written rather than what the characters do because he writes it. Endeavour losing an arm was not because he broke many laws, he lost it because of karma in a sense, he lost it because of a fight he caused. He didn't lose it as punishment. He deserves to have legal repercussions but there are none. And i think the WRITING that makes Rei care for endeavour is bad because why is he making her go back and care for him? What example does that set?
