I love (and own) most AJ designs but that Debut 2.0 design was kinda trash. I'm not sure if Elac pushed him to that sound signature or what, but I was extremely disappointed with the set I bought and promptly sold them. They'd of been better off leaving the original Debut in production and calling the Debut 2.0 something different. Let's hope that you are correct and we're getting something close to the original Debut again with the 3.0 series. For the record, I actually liked the cheaper and smaller 5 1/4" version of the original Debut better than the 6.5" version. Thx Randy, another good choice here definitely, looking forward to the reviews of the rest of the line too!
If that tweeter isn't a waveguide and is purely aesthetic then I have a problem with it. I do love me some Elac though, I'll have to give them a listen.
At a certain point, probably after the 1st one, doesn't the use of the word "debut" seem contradictory? Love my Elac first gen Unifi UB5's.
I predicted it was going to be an Elac. Was Andrew Jones involved in this NEW model?
No he has moved on to quality speakers now with source point ,he was bored of cheap speaker limitations
Sorry without Andrew Jones, I'm out.
Do they make subs? If I want to make a system with them do I have to get a sub from another brand?
I'm quite interested. My brother has the 6.5 bookshelf 1.0 and they are great.
I visit Audio Advice in Charlotte at least once a month lol..love that store.
Where do the new ones fit in the lineup, say vs the UB52?
Had the b5, b6 2.0 and now ub5 love them all elac make good speakers for the low. Destroying everything idk I had kefs from the q100 to the q950 and like kef more. But the cost is way higher for kef so elac it is :)
compare them to the unifi 2.0 and the original debut b6 and the debut 6.2....that would be interesting
I remember 15 years ago a major speaker mfr said they developed a surround to damp aluminum tweeters to soften the sound. Countless mfrs have claimed proprietary methods.
If you must, use a different tweeter technology, ie amt etc and leave the aluminum in the pots and pans. They will NEVER be accepted by the masses.
I'll take my RSL CG23 speakers over any budget speaker out there although I have nothing but my old Polk RTi8 and other RTi series surrounds to compare them to and it's no contest.
Any Chance you can get and test a Cabasse Antigua MC170? Cabasse is one of my Fav since over 20 years know and the MC170 is imho absolute fantastic in their pricepoint. Greetings from Germany.
What do you think about the ELAC SUB1225? 350 wats for 150 bucks.
Are they better than the kef q150 that you raved about?
Elac Debut are always the best cheap speakers ever, so too easy :)
Thanks Randy, where's the Puppy?
Hallo mr cheap ! There are new Ortofon Concorde pickups for your Metallica grammo and they are not discjockey but very very very good hifi - up to 600 $
I got the debut 2.0 and I find that it sound bad but I have a bad amp and dac I really need and upgrade but I'm like 17 and I got no money. Really want some sonus faber or arendal if I make an upgrade. First will be my amp tought. Maybe if I bought the debut 1.0 or 3.0 I wouldn't be looking for an upgrade but I really find that the 2.0 does not sound that good but still way better than my old little bluetooth speaker.
Bass was almost as good but the soundstage and overall sound was waaaay better. That's high praise too as the 6.5" version was a fantastic speaker in its own right.
so how they will destroy high end audio...for the 2nd time? mindblowing! :D
These remind me of the Pioneer SP-BS22-LR's with the Adam Jones mods. These are just a little boxier.
