Gastrointestinal decontamination - A variety of measures to prevent absorption of phosphine have been described, including oil lavage (eg, paraffin, coconut, sweet almond) to prevent phosphine gas production, oral or gastric tube administration of sodium bicarbonate, lavage with potassium permanganate, or administration of activated charcoal [39,56]. A meta-analysis (4 trials, 226 patients) found that administration of paraffin oil within six hours of ingestion decreased mortality (39 versus 66 percent, risk ratio 0.59 95% CI 0.45-0.76) [57]. Other decontamination techniques have not demonstrated a benefit. Furthermore, vomiting often precludes or preempts any attempts at gastrointestinal decontamination. From UpToDate

Make cases discussion where it was not possible to save patients, and the reasons for that. It helps contrary to popular belief.
