Worst thing in the world for any engine is, just sitting and not using them. Amazing how fast they deteriorate. But you did get it running well pretty quickly again. Thumbs Up!
Flipping heck Martin it’s down to these videos that UA-cam suggested your channel to me and since then I have watched every one of your videos! It also means that I have been a subscriber for 2 years now 😉 how time flies!
Hello Martin. Don't you just love it when something you do like that works out for the best. It's going to be able not spend money buying new lawn mowers in the future.
Hi Martin. Super video - thanks for sharing. Those Briggs classic engines are hard to beat and the bodywork repairs on the rusted deck held up really well. Can't believe it's 2 years since you did the original video...... Looking forward to next year when you start on the others in the polytunnel. Keep up the great work!
Great video Martin. Those rubber parts dont last long when left standing in the poxy british weather. Sounds ok now and runs smooth again its ready to use ! Cheers, Jeff.
still fixing mowers here getting them running ready to sell in spring got 45 left to go through and service ect but still buying more hows the triumph and the trotter van coming along ?
That and it’s cold. Oil is thick. If anybody cranks one,let it run a bit to heat the oil up. Don’t put it to work straight away for fall 🍁 she’ll settle on down once heat is beginning to get into the engine.
Great vid m8, I keep meaning to get my vintage Aspire engine which is an Italian made Tecumseh onto the workbench as I had intended to build a go kart around it as have the box section and tube, got the welder and even a fancy pedal go kart's quite complex steering I nipped off down the local tip and wheels ain't hard to source as I got a ton of old Vespa wheels and hubs if I needed going roundy things. My daughter is not so happy, for being a bit mental I kinda go at things hammer and tongs and end up filling the place up with broken things then my madness sends me down a new path and its like "meeh, cant be bothered..." Quite enjoying the watch thing, its like doing abs tiny Airfix kits kinda and means it piques all my likes e.g. I love polishing metals and a lot of these ol' beaters I am making look like factory fresh, its not a skill that can be hammered into submission either and sometimes it takes ten minutes to get a tiny gear wheel firmly in its journal and have to be so gentle as the pivots and shafts can be thinner than a human hair.
@@retrorestore I bought a 1600x USB microscope as me eyes are getting worse, still a way off being told I can't drive but the bloody diabetes is the gift that keeps giving hehe The microscope tho, cheap chinese but abs superb clarity at max focus and I use it on electronics and mechanical stuff as it can spot cracks in cylinders or breaks in a printed circuit or spot dry solder joints, def recommend one for small work :) I did try the lawnmower thing but round here in Daarset the lawnmower thing is sewn up tighter than a ducks bum underwater, one of the local lawnmower shops used to buy all the non runners and scrap them into parts so ppl would buy new ones and he abs cornered the second hand market round here and he has a chap who cleans all the reclaimed parts and sells 'em as new :( I do plan to have another go when we move to Scotland as my daughter has scouted out the local area and found there is no computer engineer local, no lawnmower bloke local or anyone who can fix games consoles local and its begging for someone to slide in and do the business :D
Grand job martin impressed it needed so little some patern part can be good but it’s finding them They get you going sometimes ps you should be wearing a hat keep warm m8
Do you guys have that ethanol fuel in the UK as well. Buy fuel with 15% ethanol is really horrible on any rubber diaphragms at least here in North America. Terrible stuff for small engines.

Man it feels like I saw this lawnmower a few months ago it has been two good years
That’s the proof right there that the work you do is top class well done Martin 😁👍
Yes, it shows if you look after them, they last

Yes it does Steve and thanks for staying with the channel.
Great video Martin. It nice to see you working on a lawnmower again.
Nothing out of the ordinary for one that sat for 2 years.
I remember the original video.
Hello Martin. Don't you just love it when something you do like that works out for the best. It's going to be able not spend money buying new lawn mowers in the future.
It will get used next year now as my main mower needs sorting.
I’ve welded my deck so many times there’s no original metal left , but the engine’s so good can’t let it go 😀
Good work Martin 😀😀
Most amazing thing is that is was 2 years ago! Where does time go! Still looks good,
Yes, Ian, its gone very quick
Keep up the awesome work thanks for the awesome content

I didn’t think for one minuet that you wouldn’t be able to sort that mower out well done Martin
I did neglect it again though William.
That’s because you have plenty of projects to do
I think I remember watching you restore this, looks like its held up pretty well for being left outside.
Another good one mate. The old flat heads are a good engine. And the body looks good too mate
I'll start using it next year as my main one needs attention too lol
@@retrorestore look forward to seeing it being done up mate
I remember watching when you restored this !😀
Martin the lawnmower whisperer lol remember when you repaired it 2 years ago stood up well against the elements keep up the good work 👍👍👍

Nice one are Martin.
I subscribed after watching you redo this mower originally and Hello from your friendly Briggs and Stratton Mower Shop in the USA.
Hey, nice one bud. Thanks for the sub as well.
Glad to hear you'll be using it next season after all the work you put into it Martin!
I remember you restoring the Hayter lawnmower.

Hello Martin 👍.
How come I have a table that looks just like yours .lol.
Thank you for sending dusty one of your limited edition stickers.
Glad it arrived bud

Quite a few mowers there. Not sure if that's a side business or a tad hoarding. 😂
2017 it only feels like yesterday lol

I have never paid for a lawn mower. There's always plenty of freebees every spring. Any progress on the mobylette?
Not till next year bud.
Hi Martin good to see it back alive, also shh 🤫 about doing up mowers to sell to many doing it now☹️ good vid🙂👍

I'd struggle on small stuff like that Ian.

Fab video, you must have some cash tied up in all those mowers, get them ready for spring and sell em! 😂
I knew that would start bloody knew it haha!👌🏼
Where do you go to get the better parts to repair petrol tools instead of these cheap copies Martin cheers Rob
I use Garden Hire Spares Rob. They have a website.
Martin when can we see more videos of you repairing lawn mowers ?
After Christmas I'd imagine

Is the lawnmower older than you? (60 years old)
LOL yes I remember that one and the Flymo (RIP) What happened to the Delboy mower or did I miss something?
I still have it
Good Job Mate! Why Not Resell It?
It would be interesting to see how long it lasts after I restored it 2 years ago. I did some major bodywork to it so i'd like to see how it holds up.
