I respect disabled athletes tremendously. My dad represented England in the Olympics for wheelchair basketball back in the day. He's still got it. I'm glad ABC left the comments on!
What a fantastic advocate for future. Such an informed, articulate and far thinking person. Anyone would benefit from viewing this. Thankyou for the opportunity.
What a brilliant interview/discussion. I was particularly impressed with the discussion about employment and ordinariness of disability. I also believe that this is the most critical way that disability can be normalised which is far beyond acceptance of disability.
WOW what an exceptional girl/woman. I just watched this 24/7/2022 and am totally blown away. Rarely do you see such an eloquent interviewee and it was just an enlightening insight. I am prejudiced against people with disability because I have not had any exposure to people with disability....I don't mean to be but I am sure I will stuff it up. Hearing you speak of your life was exhilirating and uplifting. Thank you both as I am richer for the experience...love to you both.
My son is Down's. He was the youngest when I put him in Special Olympics. The support from the community was exhilirating. Unfortunately a new attitude has made an insidious breach in all the efforts for an equal world and acceptance for people of Down's, various mental and physical challenges. Everyone has been taken a step backwards because of an arrogant but very persuasive few. Don't give up. Keep the faith.
