Lyrics:
I’ve been driving in my NDN Kar
Hear the pound
of the wheels drumming in my brain
My dash is dusty
The plates are expired
Please Mr. officer
Let me explain
Got to make it to a powwow
Tonight, I’ll be singing 49
Down by the riverside
Looking for a sugar
Riding in my NDN Kar
T-bird in the glove box
Ain’t got no spare
Feather from an Eagle
Ain’t got no care
The road is empty
In my bottle of desire
Daylight is breaking
Sun touches fire
Got to make it to a pow wow
Tonight, I’ll be singing 49
Down by the riverside
Looking for a sugar
Riding in my NDN KAR
My car is dented
The radiator steams
One headlight don’t work
The radio can scream
I got a sticker
Says NDN Power,
I stuck it on my bumper
That’s what holds my Car together
We’re on a circuit of an Indian dream
We don’t get old we just get younger
When we’re flying down the highway
Riding in our NDN Kars

I lived in Colorado can to Oregon (from the Klamath tribe)and am in 7th grade at PBMS I was listening to prayer songs before my game( praying for strength and safety) I heard this song and it’s made me feel good I just watched the video but it remindes me too much of my family my cousin was thrown from a car in the winter that had hit a semi truck and my other cousin remained in the car but it could have been prevented with a seat belt.
This is my uncle Keith he is teaching me how to play on my guitar
Daaaaaayyyy-uuummm.... Seriously, that's education in real rock'n'roll. Reasons... #NeverStop
Be thankful to know a man like Keith
Tell him very honored to be part of his songs and music this is one of the best songs it has special meaning to a lot of people who grew up around the rez god bless.
I saw him and "a wild bunch of Indians" a Roskilde Festival, Denmark, Europe (1992). So good to see that he is able to forward his "knowledge". Stay within the lines of this great nation. I unfortunately only am a north German with a Danish father who was a drinker - and one of the most humoristic fathers a child could wish. I always felt a lot when I was in contact with your nations topics. Sorry have to cry a little bit now. What a mess. I remember some of the names because I have t-shirt of the sunday afternoon when Juice (worker, roadie, fun lover, beer drinker) again was off duty ;-) when I sat at the left side of Tom Bullhead, when I got a sign by Mary Redhouse, bass, Rob Bee, Cree nation, many more - can't remember them right now. But they are on this shirt. God bless this afternoon. It changed my life - simply. Please, Erias, stay within the ... (I have to mention, this an alias name I use here and there on the dark of internet like google, facebook, and so on) "I am many" and we a stand at your side when it comes to it. Ok. I have spoken ;-)
He was dating my mom when he made this song. Me and my sisters had a lot of input to this song.
Beautiful, rhythmic tune and fantastic message. Be safe out on the highways indigenous folk, we need you.

I learned about Secola’s music way back in my ethnic music class in college. While not Anishinaabe or even indigenous myself, his music has actually taught me a lot of stories that are not present in textbooks (Crimson Parson comes to mind). Secola and I share a homestate and a love of music. He is truly a national treasure.
Love this song! 😄 He sounds a lot like Springsteen too! I mean that as a compliment as well!
I said the same thing!
I'm only just hearing this song for the first time recently and I have to disagree. I think Springsteen sounds a lot like Keith Secola.
This makes me so proud to be born native n have my bloodline
If I played this at the end of the world I honestly wouldn’t feel so stressed, worried or sad. I would legit embrace the positive vibe and come to peace that our world was ending with this amazing song blasting from my speakers ❤❤❤❤
What an amazing comment...and I agree 💯!

It’s like a native got inspiration from Bruce Springsteen..

Springsteen has shit for talent.......all he can do is scream like the imbecile he is. On the OTHER hand.....Keith is talented and intelligent. No comparison what-so-ever.

I dedicated this song to my son Warrick Xander Crutcher, My son may you do your best in life and as your father once did and go climb that leader of life 💯💯💯💯
I'm up here in Fairbanks, Alaska. And this song speaks to me. If you have ever had to make the run into town from Circle City, or Minto. This song says it all.
Ever deadly this song.
We use to have nice rez runners back in the day. Casinos n I don't know what all else ruined that for me.
I miss all of us being poor together. It's no good being poor by yourself.
I need more people to be poor with me...the world needs less greedy people.

My 95 corolla just dropped it's drive pulley when the serpentine belt broke. Had appt to replace it in three days, lol. Limped it to the farm. Parked now. Looked up 'jalopy' origins, sitting in the barn, goats are fed, pigs are sleeping. Pete Secola shows up as I search 'jalopy'. NDN Car... This good man is making me smile. IM on Chehalis tribal lands, thought not a member. Kieth is brining me joy. He could play with Bruce Springsteen and raise the roof!
Found this from a movie called - dance me outside- it was a amazing movie and hilarious
Keith Secola played at our school every year and it was fudgin awesome.

Flyin down the highway in reverse lol
Everytime he says i ll be singin 49 i get goosebumbs, jt was not long ago when my uncle told me the story.
Just a person with zero indigenous ancestry coming here to say this is a great piece of music. However, from the lyrics it seems that the NDN car is very popular amongst non indigenous people too!
I remember this from my favorite movie, Dance me outside. Gotta love your Indian car. Mines alright.
awesome song even has the native language subtitle ..boozhoo to all my fellow native people and all walks of life
Be safe out there y’all I love you all.
Great song here in 2020
Reminds me of riding around on the rez as a kid in the back of the truck with wind warm summer breeze and can't forget those rez dogs chasing behind us at dusk while having a couple of traveler's after work. Love it #rezlife.

I've just found this song, and the artist, via the fantastic new series "Resident Alien".
I love it.
I found the information in the middle section there, shocking! I had no idea!
Saying Hi to everyone......from Scotland, UK.
Friend just linked me this song, and I immediately went and got both of Keith's CDs.
Best song ever
I had a 2001 pontiac grand prix, no tags or plates, no stereo or speakers so we drove around the rez listening to music on a Bluetooth speaker. Some good memories.
This song is nice good ole fashioned fun for the whole family!

This song and video are fire! I heard it on a radio station and it took me a while to find it. Thank you! Love this song
Keith rules. I love this song. It's true to life but also uplifting. 👍
First heard KS and Wild Band of Indians on NPR probably twenty years ago. Such a terrific band that hardly anyone has ever heard of!
Great message ❤
Dedicated and by most suckers hated. Be proud of who you are. We are still here. We survived genocide. We fought slavery. That's what pride is. We're not to be fucked with. We are born savages, we are warriors by nature. We just lost our way. Remember that when these weirdos try to make you feel inferior.
Im originally from England i moved to Wisconsin i sit with my friend every tuesday and tune in to wojb and listen to drum song
