I had same problem as you, the old nut wouldn't connect ( cross thread). Spent like an hour trying to connect it! So next stage is just replacing it with new rubber washer and, keep the new ball clock for a full installation (removing old connector) some other time..

I know nothing about plumbing. I was getting my Christmas decorations out of the loft and I could hear water running into my tank, exactly how it is at 9:50 and then it constantly drops. When I pull the float up it stops. Do I need to replace the flat and valve like you have here? Any advice is much appreciated. Thank you.

My water tank is leaking there’s all water on the board it is resting on and it is dripping through my daughters ceiling! I am terrified the whole tank is going to come through her room what is this a sign of?!

He's put the white pressure cut off pin in the wrong way. When the water is turned back on it will probably just pop out and the tank continually fill with water.

A lot left to be worked out because camera in wrong place. Unable to see the removal process. FYI the adjustable pliers hold the body while the adjustable spanner loosens the nut. I like his plan B after hitting the threading issue but the transfer and assembly of the parts is not shown. Tanxwing raised an issue here with the white pressure cut off pin. The float adjustment was not explained either - which way do you turn to raise or lower the water level?

Try lowering the float. It will probably be on a stem with a screw that you can adjust to move it up or down. If the valve is sound you need it to cut off sooner than it does. If it’s not adjustable then gently bend the pipe from the valve to the float down. Then watch it fill and check it stops at the correct point so it’s a couple of inches below the overflow outlet. Hope that helps.
