I teared up when you all were reciting scripture. That's really what it's all about, isn't it? I'm so thankful I get to be the one who raises and disciples my children on a daily basis. What a beautiful memory❤

It doesn't always happen, but most of the time it works out. :)

I found your channel oddly enough as I’m a single woman with no children hehe but UA-cam recommended it to me and it has been a blessing especially this entry. You’ve shown what grace looks like in the day to day and it has been helpful for me for the day when I get to have a family. I’d love to homeschool too one day. I used to live in Auckland but currently based in Aus.

I just recently found your channel and I enjoy your content so much! Your sweet disposition is a joy 😊 I have 4 children and we are closing our second year of homeschooling. It has been quite a struggle to get our feet under us and establish any kind of routine. I really enjoyed seeing how your day goes.

My eldest started out in public school (FL-USA) and we switched to Sonlight at 4th grade level while having a 1 year old baby. It has been a wonderful 2 years because we added another baby to the family (now 10, 4, 2) and have been able to spend our days reconnecting without an online school schedule dictating our days. So, I loved watching your homeschool day (my dream to homeschool my kids together in the mornings!) and your final thoughts sharing your priorities; I can relate so much to juggling all the things and accepting things won't all be ideal at the same time. Thanks for sharing your life with us!

Maybe to take some pressure off you could just enjoy reading the sonlight books with your kids instead of trying to keep up with the guides! I love the idea of sonlight and have done the prek with all my kids through the years but I never followed the guide. We just read through the books at our leisure without trying to keep up with the guide. Plus I found it annoyed my kids to read a page or two of many books each day. Instead they loved choosing a title or two and we would focus on just reading those books over several days until we finished them and then they would pick a couple more for us to read through. There are so many GREAT books in that level. All four of my kids have loved preschool sonlight. I have been doing it with my youngest two this school year.

That sounds like a really great plan. :) For me, the guides actually take the pressure off, haha! I love not having to think about any planning aspect. I'm someone who thrives on having a plan, otherwise I feel overwhelmed.

I do that too. I do more of a horizontal reading plan through the Sonlight guides. 😊 some people like the lots of books but just a little each day. Whatever works for you! ❤

You have a beautiful voice, Christine, and your children's voices were so sweet. I love to hear children sing. ❤️ Can't wait to hear how you're enjoying MWC.
A messy house gets to me as well. So many things you said I can relate to. The to do list can seem never ending. It's a sanctifying process for sure. I will be praying for you. Thank you for sharing your day with us.❤️

I’m half asleep when I wake up!!! Kids need daddy time!!! In our house it’s a different times depending on my husbands work, he works shifts!!! It’s awesome that Charlotte I’d excited to do school!!! I love being outside as well!!! We get iPads on silent when we do read alouds and then when it’s a kids turn they say is it my turn!!! We only do rest time when kids are tired!!! My older kids love coffee/tea break and my kids who don’t drink can join with different drinks but my youngest often plays instead unless she’s feeling a bit tired!!! My kids snack during school!!! We love slower homeschool days when we can!!! I was told that a clean house isn’t worth losing my kids relationships and homeschool!!! We are all foodies!!!

I loved this video! Thank you for what you said at the end about homeschooling while having littles as well. It made me feel so much better because it's so hard sometimes, feels nearly impossible. First year for kindergarten homeschool and I have a 1 and a half year old. It feels crazy sometimes haha. So I appreciated you relating to those earlier years. Also your home is so sunlit and gorgeous! Hope you have a great day ❤❤

Thank you for sharing!!! I loved seeing all you do! This is pretty much how our day goes too! My youngest is 5 so I definitely know what you mean by the difficult stages of like a 1-3 year old, definitely hard, but like you said, it does get better! I have the Sonlight preschool and prek books but I keep forgetting to read them to her since we’re doing other things, you’ve inspired me to start bringing them into my time with her! Oh and I love your garden!!!!! It’s beautiful!!

I always love to see your videos, Christine!! Our kiddos are similar ages (3.5, 6, and 8) so I glean so much inspiration from you!!! It also helps to see another mama doing real life homeschooling. My kitchen is never clean until after my kiddos go to bed 😂 Honestly, I think a homeschooling mother can only do two of three things well at any given time; homeschooling, clean house, healthy meals. There is no way to juggle all three well and if I had to choose one to “go” I would pick the clean house!!! ❤

A messy house gets to me also. I've been trying to implement fly lady. I'm just doing the daily routines and the daily focus so far. It has helped SO much! My house is definitely not perfect but it is in order. It's functional and supports our busy family 😅

Your oldest was 4.5 when you started him in kindergarten. And your youngest you are doing preschool basics with at almost age 5. 🎉 new subscriber 🎉

I have really enjoyed your channel! I just recently found it and believe we have many similar homeschool and household approaches. I add in fables and fairytales to our breakfast time but I love the idea of odd even days so I will be doing even poetry days odd fairytales/fables days. Thank you for that idea spark! Are all of your books during breakfast, other then poetry, from the Sonlight curriculum?

    • @ThisHomeschoolHouse
      @ThisHomeschoolHouse  Рік тому

Not all of them. :) The poetry books are just ones that I own. Most of what we read is from Sonlight, but I do add my own stuff in as well.

We're king James only Baptists, would the bible you used for the kids be appropriate or does it have scripture from modern translations? I've been searching for an appropriate children's bible and haven't been able to find one 😭

    • @ThisHomeschoolHouse

It doesn't use a lot of Scripture in the sense that it's summarised stories. When they do reference specific Scripture references we look it up in our bible (we use KJV too).
