    We’re running short of talented, experienced workers, Gen X is supposedly hugely unprepared for retirement… but we’re silent about age discrimination in employment. An educated 70-year-old is good for more than just pushing carts at Walmart. Or politics.

    Interesting. 10 or so years ago, we were saying that the world was overpopulated and the earth could not support the mass of people that was projected. Now we complain that the population is decreasing and mainly because of money. Also, we take talent needed by poorer countries to compete with the rich countries and develop their own manufacturing and keep their resources in country instead of letting multinational companies to use the local people to do the dirty work at cheap wages to bring more of the resources to them to make even more money and keep the source countries poor financially as well as in skilled labor. Maybe we need to give up some profit to help poorer countries to get rich enough so they do not need to have 5 children with the hope that maybe one will live long enough to continue the family in their country.

  • @JavaScriptJolt

    I’m a Democrat and I like this guy. However, there are two main problems with increasing the birth rate in the U.S. (or any industrialized nation). First, we live in a time when people know their kids won’t have a better life than themselves. In fact, the standard of living is going backwards. People have to know that their kids will have a better life. People have always worked and sacrificed for that dream; that dream is dead now. We have to rebuild the middle class. Second, we are just starting to acknowledge the horrible side effects of natural childbirth; c-sections aren’t too far behind. As women become more educated on this topic, many are choosing not to have children. Go read about some of the horror stories, such as a lifetime of urinary and fecal incontinence. Maybe a solution is artificial wombs.

    My family would love to have another kid, we have always wanted at minimum 2. However inflation has been so crazy high and getting a less than 1% raise per year while daycare has went up 7.3% per year and groceries are getting more and more expensive. Congress only cares about making their political donators (and future board seats) filthy rich, doesn't matter red or blue. Most economic discussions are for either business growth or Twitter likes for the policies that will be made sure never happen.
    Doubtful anyone important will read this but:
    Lina Khan was the first politician in a LONG time I actually liked and she is gone. They will reverse all the progress she made in making consumers lives better. Would her policies hurt businesses? Yeah but not everything has to benefit businesses, I'm not anti business, I am a 100% pro capitalism kinda guy, but they can handle the world having slightly less training wheels. No one ever gave my family them. Having a click to cancel button is far from socialist, hair dressers not being forced into non-competes (extremely common) is far from communism.

    Your immigration policy appears to prioritize increasing competition in the "upper quartile" of the labor market, potentially putting strain on those already competing in high-skilled, high-paying roles. Why not adopt a more balanced approach that gives everyone an equal opportunity to immigrate to the U.S.?
    Focusing disproportionately on the highest economic classes not only risks classism but also ignores the broader impacts on the labor market as a whole.

      @i_like_beer-o2f I am a vet first off. Veterans benefits are a part of the nondefense budget, while the military budget is part of the defense budget. Have you ever heard of the Veterans Affairs? Veterans benefits are part of the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) budget. The military budget is part of the Department of Defense's (DoD) budget.
      The military budget funds current military personnel. The Department of Defense (DoD) and Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) budgets are separate. Congress decides on the budgets for each department. If you dont know what you are talking about shut up!!! This is how you end up with a Trump.

      @@thief2801 the other user talked about military spending. Money that goes to veterans to pay their pensions and healthcare benefits is a form of military spending. No one ever specified which departments we were referring to.

      @i_like_beer-o2f you have Google like everyone else right? Before you make a comment I would utilize the search bar. The VA (Department of Veterans Affairs) is not considered part of military spending, as it is a separate budget from the Department of Defense, and primarily focuses on providing benefits and healthcare to veterans after their military service, not to active military personnel; therefore, it is considered a separate category of government spending. The top four spending categories in the US federal budget are Social Security, healthcare, national defense, and transfers to states. The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) is the fifth-largest spender among federal agencies, accounting for 3.5% of federal spending in fiscal year (FY) 2023. Defense is 13.3 %.

      @i_like_beer-o2f 10 днів тому

      @thief2801 yes and again, all new recruits to the military are a future VA liability. So tell me what lies are you going to tell to get this o so Smart people here. And just how smart are they really if they believed your lies? Because you just want tax money. If there truly smart and talented there not going to stay or there going to smell your sh*t coming a mile away. You mite have to change to help people if you want people versus just helping some people like rich people. Well you got a ton of them. I bet you can get them to stay and fix your stuff right?

    brother go work with Trump, I'm sure he will listen to you and think of a way to remedy what you're worried about. Trump gets stuff done, even tho he spends a lot of money,, you need to go to him when hes available

    How are we going to have wage growth if you fire government employees?

    • @ahopefiend1867
      @ahopefiend1867 8 днів тому

      We won't. The only time we had really good wage growth was when companies couldn't hire foreign workers in 2020-2021. It's been downhill ever since. Only unions have had gains in the past couple years.

      I don't expect Musk to cut the worthless spending to SpaceX anytime soon. There's nothing in space for us so we should be focusing on earth were we live.
