I love bubble and squeak, and bangers and mash as well. Last time I was in the UK I was in this little town named Aylesford (well outside the town actually but pretty close) and there was an old pub/tavern we found that made probably the best bubble and squeak I've ever had in the UK. And a shop I went to in London itself (don't ask me where it was or the name, it's been 20 years lol) that easily had the best bangers and mash I ever had. Those crispy bits are the best parts. It's the same with many foods here in the US, burgers with crispy bits and cheese that's partly crisped up, so darn good. In any event - I love how you try to support "mom and pop" aka local restaurants like this. You, Gary Eats and Rate my Takeaway of course are like the kings of supporting locally owned and sourced businesses. While prices might be higher in these establishments (not always of course) you almost always get what you pay for. Same here in the US of course, and I'd imagine every country on the planet lol
Yes, although we all cover a rnage of businesses, it's the little ones that normally give me the most pleasure - generally speaking you find good produce prepared with care. Give me this place over Gordon Ramsay's joints any day of the week!!
I really adore your video reviews of independent restaurants. This is my kind of food. And yes, sausages, Yorkshire pudding and gravy with mustard! Nothing beats it. Okay, it wasn't a real toad in the hole but the sausages were of a good quality and that always counts. Thanks for sharing your culinary experience Greeno!
I am glad you enjoyed the review - I enjoy visiting little independent places like this, if my review can help send a few extra customers their way then that's what it is all about!
Have been there a number of times and always pleased with whatever we've ordered. The staff are always very welcoming and the owners are also friendly and chatty. Well worth a visit and something for everyone.
The ‘Green Go’ sign early on gave me early confidence that your own green light would shine bright ! I thought it was funny that you thought overseas subscribers might not be fully up-to-date on our cuisine but have no doubts that the UK audience all understand ‘up my Straße!‘ For those in the know, your videos are up everyone’s Straße! Philip from TravelInTheKnow under the wrong handle!
Possible catch phrases for you Greeno and future merchandising. - Time to chowdown - Bring on the posh nosh - Let's make a meal of it - Am I excited...absolutely - Let's give this the Greeno test! - Will it pass the Greeno Test? More to come Mike😘
100% agree Greeno. That's sausage with a Yorkie, not a Toad in the Hole. It wouldn't bother me, i'd eat it, not gonna taste any different, but defo not a Toad in the Hole. You' wouldnt get 3 sausages in a Yorkie that size anyway, so probably a bonus sausage doing it that way lol
Speaking from one of the Colonies, Aunt Fanny would be bang on the money if it was called a deconstructed toad in the hole. All the flavours and ingredients are there, just not cooked and presented in the traditional way. They would still sell just as many and diners wouldnt get a surprise. Just my opinion. Thanks Greeno. Great video😊
It's great that you are supporting local businesses especially when the farmers were on strike Love Toad in the hole ❤️❤❤❤ The food looks great Have a great day Greeno my mum used to make bubble and squeak Great video
I agree with you Greeno. That was a Yorkshire pudding and sausages, not a Toad in the hole. That said, the most important thing is 'was it good' and from your reactions and description it obviously was so I think 4.5 out of 5 was a fair score. Looking forward to your next review.
I'm in two minds about toad in the hole. It's traditional to cook it all together, and you get some of the sausage flavour into the batter. But if you cook the Yorkshire pudding separately it rises up a lot better. I'm quite happy with either.
I’m from the USA and I have come across and have watch a few of your videos and have really enjoyed them. I know I may never have a chance to visit the Uk but if I do I know some places I’d like to eat at.
Hi there! Whereabout in the States are you? I am always interested in how folk from disparate locations come to find my content - I am glad you are enjoying it!
@ I’m from Arkansas. I watch a few food challenge eaters and some other people who do videos like yours and I came across one of your videos and watched it and have enjoyed your content ever since.
My paternal grandma was called Fanny. They should bring the name back. 🤔 Back in 1977 I was working at one company that had a canteen and it was a time when we had the external auditors in. They came up to the canteen and one was an Asian gentleman. He asked what one of the dishes was being served and was told toad in the hole. He pulled his nose up and said sorry, but he couldn't eat toads. (TRUE!)
I have one for you,a Bengali lady I know asked me why Americans ate beef eyes, after a bit of of though I asked where she heard that from, she said eye round of beef was on sale at the supermarket. It is the American term for what we call silverside,or topside.😂😂
Definitely a quirky, rustic place. Decent prices and decent produce. This brought back a memory for me. My brother who is six years younger than me, said to Mum, I like turd in the hole. I remember trying not to laugh. However, from then on if ever mum made it, it was turd in the hole. I agree that it would be sausages cooked in the Yorkshire pudding to be a real Toad in the hole, however sausages in a Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy is very good too! 👍
Hi Greeno. Great review as always . As you said not Toad, but sausages looked tasty even though the Yorkshire looked a bit well done. A good hearty meal . Pork pie looked good, no jelly ☹️. A good 3 cup pot of tea for the price. Nice to see you wearing your Dorset flag poppy. Safe travels. Great review. Regards Steve in Dorset .👍🍽️
Me thinks wonderful Greeno should be having a hot lemon ,honey and whisky toddy before bed tonight ? Thanks so much for this as I said before HONEST review you are the best as far as I’m concerned .God Bless you Greeno look after yourself x
Yep that is definitely not a toad in the hole! I thought the food looked very good Greeno! Yep this had to get a Greeno green light!! Top video as always sir ….Smithy
If my review helps tempt a few more punter through their doors then that's what it's all about - exactly why I want to showcase some of these smaller independents!
Poor old Greeno got so befuddled by the fake toad in the hole, even HE started calling toad in the hole Yorkshire pudding!! That may well have been a tasty meal but it was emphatically NOT toad in the hole. Even Aunt Bessie makes a better fist of it than that!!
Pork pie and toad in the hole. Greeno is one lucky fellow. I used to make TITH often but gave up as it is difficult to get the sausages you need in France. I'm thinking of investing in a British-style butcher in Paris. There is a young lad doing pasties and pork pies but he is way to the east side of Paris and as we live 28km to the West and it is almost impossible to drive in anti-car Paris, I haven't worked out how to access the grub. I hope Greeno manages to get a cameraperson one day. I am sure that it would boost the subs.😎😘
Sometimes I have some camerapeople involved, but you're right - it is often still just me on my tod! Some way off being able to afford employess on the UA-cam revenue haha!! I love French sausages, even those mixed packs of pork, Toulouse and Merguez you get in every supermarket... but you're right, no good for a toad in the hole!!
Hi greeno , food did look good and yes it’s not a toad if the sausage is cooked separately… also I didn’t know about the tea bag not to squeeze it !! I won’t from now on lol … great video thanks
Living in Ireland Greeno we don’t do toad in the hole. However, I know what it is and what it looks like. That’s not toad in the hole, but who cares, you enjoyed it. The sausages looked really nice. The pork pie isn’t really a thing over here either but I thought it was lacking any jelly. Maybe I’m wrong. Great review mate 👍
You're right Philip - it wasn't toad in the hole, but what it was was a good, hearty and tasty plate of food :-) - The prok pie didn't have much jelly, but I don't mind that.
Just a heads up Wetherspoons festive meal: The Christmas menu will be available from Wednesday 13 November until Tuesday 31 December (excluding Christmas Day). Festive meals for 2024 include the ever-popular dish of sliced turkey breast and winter vegetables. Turkey Enjoy four slices of turkey breast, with a pork, apricot & cranberry stuffing, roasted Chantenay carrots and parsnips, Maris Piper mash, two pigs-in-blankets, peas, cranberry sauce and gravy. ...... This meal, together with all the festive meals and Deli Deals®, includes a drink* (soft or alcoholic).
Thanks Nigel! I actually reviewed that exact meal on the channel this time last year - I wasn't terribly impressed to be honest! ua-cam.com/video/7_w7s0soeyM/v-deo.html I am looking for ideas of where to film a few Christmas specials this year though...
That looked very very good. Since I'm not British, I don't think I'm allowed to have an opinion on that Toad in a Hole 😂 Great place, though, looked super cozy!
What a great spot!! Love the Famous Five connection with the menu Love all the items given a character or story name Brings back memories of me reading Enid Blyton - my favourite ! Def NOT ‘TitH’ which is a pity! Also the Yorkshire looked too well done but looked tasty I’d happily go there regularly 😋 Nice review & great to support these businesses Tysm G ☺️
Yes, I pitched up at a time I thought the lunchtime rush would be done with, and still not a seat in the house! Fortunately though I don't mind sitting in the fresh air!
Well it is more of a Toad on the hole 😂. I agree not actually in the hole ! The colour of the Yorkshire pudding was off putting.. I prefer a golden finish . But always good to see you Mr G 👍🏻
I am ok with various shades of Yorkshire Pudding, as long as the consistency is right, and it hasn't gotten to the point of being burnt and starting to taste bitter. Toad on the Hole is a good description!!
As a church bell ringer I have visited Wimborne Minster, rung at the church there. I notice, the table number is on a wooden spoon, the company formerly known as Bass,(Now Mitchell's and Butlers) it's Vintage Inn's brand first used wooden spoons as table numbers back in the 1990's.... That is not a proper Toad in the hole though, sausage is cooked in the batter in the tin... Agree 100 💯. Quality looks great though.. 😊 Wensleydale cheese isn't strong enough to cook with, so I wouldn't even use it as a chef in such a dish, it's a cheese that needs to be eaten as a cheese board.
I don't think you could call it Toad in the Hole. Sausage and Yorshire pudding is right. It looked very good for the price though. Great review as always. Thanks for sharing. And you are creeping up on twenty thousand subs.
That looked really good. I prefer pork pies to the traditional recipe, with jelly and a nice thin crust, so I wouldn't be looking for a cheese/pickle taste anyway.
Greeno. Next marketing idea. Get some young one to make you a green paddle board like the GO sign behind you. Replace GO with a thumbs up for your final judgement.
Oh dear! 😬 The title doesn’t sound good 🫣 An absolute British classic but growing up never known why they call it toad in the hole! 😂 Never squeeze a teabag - something to do with tannins 🤷♀️ Cabbage and leek is great in bubble and squeak 😋 That’s not toad in the hole - that’s sausages served with y/pudding 🤦🏽♀️ Pastry does look dry on the pork pie - the cheese isn’t strong enough - you have to go for it with something like a Stilton and balance it 👍 3 1/2 out of 5 as the pork pie didn’t have the flavour you wanted and the pastry looked dry. The toad in the hole wasn’t toad in the hole
This iz the kind of traveling stop that is heaven. Great food, good value. That pot of tea made the meal. Thank you, Greeno! Looking forward to seeing the cakes next time. 🥰🥰🥰
Hey Greeno!, whenever I have sausage sandwiches, I put butter in the bread, top slice of bread Tomato ketchup and bottom piece of bread English mustard, taste sensation!. Any time of the day!. 👍
Hi Greeno, yum on your toad in the hole, here we call toad in the hole where we cut a circle in the bread and then cook an egg in the middle. You got a very substantial lunch for your buck. :)
The origins though not exact were to make meat stretch further in poorer households. The meat dripping would have batter thrown into it with any left over meats ..That was in 18th century onwards in 19th century a bright spark threw in some sausages & it is what it is today. For me, it must be cooked in beef dripping & lots & lots of thick onion gravy over it with creamy mash & lots of green veggies. That place looked quirky & well worth a visit from me. If it is local produce & tasty ,I couldn't care less if the bangers & yorkies are made seperate or not there. Once it is in my tummy it will get digested the same ( very quickly ) ..😂😂.. P.S ..I am going to The Chop house in Soho for my birthday next week ..Thanks to you .😊🙏
Deconstructed toadie just doesn’t taste the same as proper toadie. Not sure whether it's the batter doing something to the sausage or the sausage doing something to the batter but something happens when they're cooked in the same oven dish.
That is absolutely not a toad in the hole, it's a Yorkshire pudding with onion gravy that comes with sausages. I would also raise an eyebrow at carrots in bubble and squeak. Just onions mash and cabbage where I come from. But parking what the food is called, the food you were served looked top quality and the tea was a bargain so I would have been more than happy to have eaten it.
Yes, I am definitely saying it wasn't a toad in the hole - but it was blooming delicious, and well worth what I paid for it. And definitely taking the family back there for tea and cakes!
Hey Mr Greeno, that meal looked absolutely delicious especially the peas, for £20 you can't go wrong. Enjoy the rest of your week, I look forward to all your videos. Can i ask a question about your poppy, what is the yellow flag for? I'm Irish so I don't understand all the different 1's, I don't mean anything by it I'm just curious, but I know how important it is to the UK. Stay safe Greeno
Hi Lisa - thanks for the kind words. The yellow flag is the flag of my home county, Dorset. The Royal British Legion bring out these special edition pins from time to time.
Lovely relaxing location. Was that Toad In the Hole? Absolutely not, but in this case serving the meal as they did is probably a better way to showcase the ingredients and at the end of the day you enjoyed your lunch. 👍
You really should go to Suffolk if you like a nice cake! Pump Street bakery in Orford is fantastic and they do amazing bread and chocolate making classes too! An incredible day out!
Thanks Greeno, bit of useless info, my Dad's sister lived in Colehill and my Cousin married Gary Alice son of the Golfer Peter, an idiot from my perspective!! Regards to the family, pp: my Pigeon was delicious! 👍👍🤗🤗
Looked lovely home-cooked food {if not a real Toad}. You'll have to come out to Fordingbridge one day. Lovely little town and loads of, individual, family owned cafe's and eateries. The Potting Shed at Hyde Garden Centre does a fantastic breakfast.
the worst thing about watching your videos and the other review guys I watch, is now I want a pork pie! but the nearest shop is 3 miles away and I have just finished a beer ,oh well beans on toast it is then
Looks like a lovely place Greeno, nice selection of cakes, and other bits and bobs, i don't think you can call that a toad in the hole, it needs to be actual sausages in the batter, that's a proper toad in the hole, i did like the teapot and cup and saucer, very nice.
All looked good, not enough gravy mind ( it was not toad in the hole ) for me and surprised with Wensleydale, it’s pretty flavourless to compete with pickle. Would definitely visit if I was near, tea pot was lovely, nice and big. Good one.😊
Ive not had a traditional toat in the hole so would of been dissapointed in having the elements separate . . I do like a pork pie n brown sauce mmm . . It all looked pretty good . . Price good value for a farm shop type cafe . . Take care till next time . Bye from NZ👍👋🇳🇿🍻twa
That place looks like a little gem Greeno. Great big potvof tea for under £3. Whats not to love. The toad in/on the hole looked great and acpork pie that has a decent filling is a bonus.
Interesting food for a day that looked a little bleak and cold to me,i certainly would be eating inside. The food looked fine for a lunch to suit the conditions.Good review
No room at the inn for me to sit inside, but I don't mind a bit of fresh air, and as others have pointed out before, my physique is somewhat suited to winter conditions haha!
I love Yorkshire pud, and, as for the positioning of the sausages, I'm not too fussy as long as the components of the meal are in the same postcode area as each other. Hole on the plate, toad reading his daily paper and sitting astride his moped.🎉
Hi folks, welcome to a brand new week of content!
Now what do you think about the controversy in this meal? Is it really Toad in the Hole??
Toad in a hole, never heard of it, somethings new learned today 😊 bubble and squek looks lovley, I guess I would love it
It's not toad in the hole unless the sausage is encased within the Yorkshire pudding itself.
All looks nice ❤❤❤❤
For it to be called Toad in the Hole the sausages should be par-cooked to add the colour, then added to the batter mix! My Mum makes it fantastic.
Love the fact that you and Gary eats never tell us what you are reviewing next-the element of suprise excellent ❤
That's partly cos I don't always know myself! They're not always released in the order they are filmed :-)
I love bubble and squeak, and bangers and mash as well. Last time I was in the UK I was in this little town named Aylesford (well outside the town actually but pretty close) and there was an old pub/tavern we found that made probably the best bubble and squeak I've ever had in the UK.
Thank you Greeno for taking us with you again!
You are more than welcome!
I really adore your video reviews of independent restaurants. This is my kind of food. And yes, sausages, Yorkshire pudding and gravy with mustard! Nothing beats it. Great to know, I do intend to return with the family at some point!
@@GreenoEats Think Friday is a pizza night too.
Toad in the hole in Aunt Fannys, Kenneth Williams and Sid James would have had a field day there!!!😂
Ooh, matron! 😊
You're not wrong!!
haha!!
Ooh matron! 😹
In Vietnam there's a brand of icecream called Fanny. They have a chain of outlets.
I think the toad in the hole could be as a deconstructed Toad In the hole still looked delicious ❤
Seems that way yes!
toads not quite in the holes....
Looked superb, real quality ingredients. I’d give them a pass on cooking the sausages separately 👍 Great to support local producers, nice one!
Yep, I will always look to showcase smaller businesses like this - if it helps send a few viewers in their direction then that's what it's all about!
The ‘Green Go’ sign early on gave me early confidence that your own green light would shine bright ! Hi Philip - multiple handles huh - I shall have to watch out for that :-) Thanks as always, for the kind words!!
LOL so cute how EVERY single Greeno eats video starts with him rubbing his hands together ..literally every single one LOL
A long time since I was called cute haha!
Don't you mean Perfick! But yes you're right, that wasn't a toad in the hole!
Yes, it's that kind of place isn't it !!
Scran looked pretty decent pal nice big pot of tea for less than 3 quid you can't beat that.👍🏻😁
Yes, although I still maintain it's not a toad in the hole, it was really good, and that pot of tea for under £3 was great!!
Possible catch phrases for you Greeno and future merchandising.

Thanks for the ideas Mike!
100% agree Greeno. That's sausage with a Yorkie, not a Toad in the Hole. It wouldn't bother me, i'd eat it, not gonna taste any different, but defo not a Toad in the Hole. You' wouldnt get 3 sausages in a Yorkie that size anyway, so probably a bonus sausage doing it that way lol
you may well be right there on the sausage to yorkie ratio!
I agree, if they’re not going to do it the traditional way it should be made clearer. Was still tasty though 🙂
It's great that you are supporting local businesses especially when the farmers were on strike
Love Toad in the hole ❤️❤❤❤
The food looks great Have a great day Greeno my mum used to make bubble and squeak Great video
If my video sends a few extra punters their way then I'll be happy :-)
I agree with you Greeno. That was a Yorkshire pudding and sausages, not a Toad in the hole. That said, the most important thing is 'was it good' and from your reactions and description it obviously was so I think 4.5 out of 5 was a fair score. Looking forward to your next review.
Yep, wasn’t exactly what it said on the tin, but didn’t stop it being a tasty lunch.
I'm in two minds about toad in the hole. It's traditional to cook it all together, and you get some of the sausage flavour into the batter. But if you cook the Yorkshire pudding separately it rises up a lot better. I'm quite happy with either.
I quite like that kind of soggy bit you get at the base of a proper Toad in the Hole :-)
‘If feta and Cheddar had a baby’ 😂😂😂😂
Best description that Greeno
Too funny 😂😂❤
Thanks 🙂
Lovely little place you've found there, Greeno. Well presented, good quality home cooked food. Bob's your Uncle, and Fanny's your Aunt lol! 😊
It's a lovely little spot :-)
That looked very tasty! Also that wasp coming at ya was hilarious , even in november they find you.
There must be something in my after shave that attracts them, shouldn't they be done for the year by now!!
Hello 🎉......just pouring a quick red wine 🍷🍷 then settling down to watch! 😊
Me to lol 😂
That sounds like a mighty fine idea!!!
Great minds huh Jonathan!
Toad in the hole done that way is so clever. I’d eat it there. Usually one/both elements are raw/murdered!!
If you part cook the sausage first, then add the batter to the pan it should come out perfectly :-)
I’m from the USA and I have come across and have watch a few of your videos and have really enjoyed them. I know I may never have a chance to visit the Uk but if I do I know some places I’d like to eat at.

Top review Greeno. The food looked proper quality. Good value too.
Yes, it was a very fair price for some tasty grub!
Hi Greeno. Great review as always . As you said not Toad, but sausages looked tasty even though the Yorkshire looked a bit well done. A good hearty meal . Pork pie looked good, no jelly ☹️. A good 3 cup pot of tea for the price.

Raging colds running wild through Greeno Towers currently!
Looks fantastic. I love simple food, done well. Very good price as well
Agreed!!
Yep that is definitely not a toad in the hole! I thought the food looked very good Greeno! Yep this had to get a Greeno green light!! Top video as always sir ….Smithy
Agreed on all counts Smithy - tasty, but not a Toad in the Hole !!
Who cares enough to criticise, it looked good and tasted wonderful, that is all that counts. I hope lots go there and enjoy it as much as you did

Great deal on the pot of tea, Greeno. The meal looked tasty, and I agree with your comments about peas 👍 It wasn't Toad in the Hole, though
Agree with everything in your comment :-)

Glad you enjoyed it - and the tea bag tip is a good one :-)
Nice one Greeno, that looks like posh food for a farm shop! My local only does slices of cake and pork pies 🤓🥩🥂
It was good - I plan to go back and try more things sometime!

Greeno. Local Wimborne lad here. Have you tried the new Turkish restaurant in Wimborne town centre yet? The Rosemary. Deffo give it a try!
I haven't yet, but thanks for the tip!
That looked very very good. Since I'm not British, I don't think I'm allowed to have an opinion on that Toad in a Hole 😂 Great place, though, looked super cozy!
Of course you are allowed an opinion Lile - I sure would have an opinion about various types of sausage or Handkäse (always "mit Musik" for me!)
What a great spot!! Love the Famous Five connection with the menu Love all the items given a character or story name Brings back memories of me reading Enid Blyton - my favourite ! You got a bargain. Quality traditional English food in a peaceful setting. Hard to have left those cakes alone so definitely another visit warranted.
Oh you can put your mortgage on my going back there with the family for tea and cakes!!
Hi Greeno , quaint surroundings and such a cute cream jug, and luscious food I like it a lot 🎉🐸
Yes, lots to like about this place!
I see that you were channelling your inner Mrs Doyle.....! "Cup of tea Father? "Go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on, go on..."!
Haha, better than my normal channeling of Father Dougal in everyday life!!
@ I usually channel Father Jack…!!
@@timbospencer can't say I've noticed........ ;-)

My dad would cook Yorkshire pudding! He was from Leeds ❤
That'll explain it then - it's in the DNA!!
Defo not a toad in the hole. Have been to this place but so crowded we came out again. Alway a dilemma that the good places are crowded.
Yes, I pitched up at a time I thought the lunchtime rush would be done with, and still not a seat in the house! Fortunately though I don't mind sitting in the fresh air!
Seemed nice. Another great vlog, thanks for all you do for the channel xx
Thanks for the kind words Susannah, much appreciated!!
@ Ironically I’ve just burnt a steak and ale pie 🥧😂
@@janeldunn65 haha - oh no! Hope it is salvagable!
Wensleydale cheese isn't strong enough to cook with, so I wouldn't even use it as a chef in such a dish, it's a cheese that needs to be eaten as a cheese board.
interesting - thanks for the info. I think you're right about Wensleydale
@GreenoEats no worries 😁
Looked like a smashing lunch. I'm with you on the 'Toad in the Hole question
Yep, it was Toad adjacent to a Hole 🙂
I don't think you could call it Toad in the Hole. Sausage and Yorshire pudding is right. It looked very good for the price though. Great review as always. Thanks for sharing. And you are creeping up on twenty thousand subs.
It was still a tasty meal, even if it wasn't exactly what it said on the tin! And yes, pushing up toward 20k - hopefully not toooooo far away!
That looked really good. I prefer pork pies to the traditional recipe, with jelly and a nice thin crust, so I wouldn't be looking for a cheese/pickle taste anyway.
They had the traditional ones too, and ones with cranberry and a couple of other additional flavourings
Greeno.
Next marketing idea. Get some young one to make you a green paddle board like the GO sign behind you. Replace GO with a thumbs up for your final judgement.
A bit like the paddles on Strictly Come Dancing huh??
@ never seen this show and do not need to🙄 Idem for most UK reality shows👎
@@MikePaton-Williams-yv9qo a very wise decision!!
Oh dear! 😬 The title doesn’t sound good 🫣
An absolute British classic but growing up never known why they call it toad in the hole! 😂
Never squeeze a teabag - something to do with tannins 🤷♀️
Cabbage and leek is great in bubble and squeak 😋
That’s not toad in the hole - that’s sausages served with y/pudding 🤦🏽♀️
Pastry does look dry on the pork pie - the cheese isn’t strong enough - you have to go for it with something like a Stilton and balance it 👍
3 1/2 out of 5 as the pork pie didn’t have the flavour you wanted and the pastry looked dry. The toad in the hole wasn’t toad in the hole
Interesting thoughts as always Sharon :-)
Do you own anything other than Northface? 🤔🤣🤔🤣. Just giving you a hard time. Thanks for the vids! Appreciate all your hard work.
I do have a lot of North Face clobber - but look carefully and you will see other brands pup up time to time!!
Wow that looked really nice, you’ll have do a Xmas dinner soon, somewhere a bit special 👍
I am looking into doing a few different things in the run up to Christmas if I can :-)
Toad in the Hole - a forgotten memory
Something we used to have quite regular as a kid - a cheap, filling meal - bit of mash, peas and some gravy, sorted!
This iz the kind of traveling stop that is heaven. Great food, good value. That pot of tea made the meal. Thank you, Greeno! Looking forward to seeing the cakes next time. 🥰🥰🥰
You can bet your mortgage on me returning there with the family and enjoying tea and cakes!!
Hey Greeno!, whenever I have sausage sandwiches, I put butter in the bread, top slice of bread Tomato ketchup and bottom piece of bread English mustard, taste sensation!. Any time of the day!. 👍
Interesting - I will give it a try!
Hi Greeno, yum on your toad in the hole, here we call toad in the hole where we cut a circle in the bread and then cook an egg in the middle. You got a very substantial lunch for your buck. :)
That's interesting to know you have a very different food with the same name! A good lunch indeed, and I will be back to have a go at those cakes!
Always so much fun seeing you 😃👍
Very kind of you to say so Mattias!
You will definately have to take Mrs Greeno and Family 👪 there perhaps in the Summer time ❤🎉
I 100% will do!!
@GreenoEats Pleased to hear!
Very good review. Food looked excellent - particularly the pork pie. Reasonable price as well.
Thanks David - it may not have been a genuine toad in the hold, but it was all blooming tasty!
Been watching for a while and just realised i wasnt subbed. Subbed now
Thanks for that - glad you have been enjoying the content!
We have Pork Pies 🥧 here in Australia 🇦🇺 really enjoy them! Buy them when I can Greeno very filling indeed! ❤😂
Can't beat a good pork pie, I like mine with English Mustard
@@GreenoEats like mime with BBQ Sauce 😋 🤣🤣
P.S ..I am going to The Chop house in Soho for my birthday next week ..Thanks to you .😊🙏
Often the simplest, most humble foods are the best aren't they!
I hope you enjoy your meal in London :-) And Happy Birthday for next week!!
@@GreenoEatsYes they are. Thank you, that is kind of you. I am really looking forward to going ..😊
Great work Greeno keep up the brilliant content 👍🏽
Thanks, I will do my best!
Definitely not a Toad in the Hole, however it did look delicious!
Agreed 100%
Deconstructed toadie just doesn’t taste the same as proper toadie. Not sure whether it's the batter doing something to the sausage or the sausage doing something to the batter but something happens when they're cooked in the same oven dish.
Agreed 100%!!
Bet the gravy wasn't Aldi granules in boiling water 😂😂😂😂
Indeed it wasn't!
Brilliant as always …… nit picking but all looked really good 👍
Thanks, I appreciate that!!
That’s not toad in the hole. Curious - what is the yellow flag on your poppy pin. We will remember.
It's the Dorset flag on the poppy pin
We have a artisan tea shop in Chorlton Manchester who serves tea in quirky non matching crockery love it ❤
It's kind of cool isn't it
Hey Mr Greeno, that meal looked absolutely delicious especially the peas, for £20 you can't go wrong.
I’ve never seen that either. You can get white poppies for peace and purple poppies to honour all the animals who died in wars.
It is the flag of dorset with a poppy!...it was chosen by residents of dorset in 2008 I think..
Hi Lisa - thanks for the kind words. The yellow flag is the flag of my home county, Dorset. The Royal British Legion bring out these special edition pins from time to time.
Yes, it's a special edition one that I bought, with the flag on my home county of Dorset on.
Lovely relaxing location. Was that Toad In the Hole? Absolutely not, but in this case serving the meal as they did is probably a better way to showcase the ingredients and at the end of the day you enjoyed your lunch. 👍
Yes, I guess it was done more with presentation in mind, but I would have been happy with a slab of the proper stuff 🙂
You really should go to Suffolk if you like a nice cake! Pump Street bakery in Orford is fantastic and they do amazing bread and chocolate making classes too! An incredible day out!
Interesting, thanks for the tip!
Looks delicious, no matter what they call it!
Well that is a fair point - it tasted good, just wasn't a toad in the hole. I guess some fancy London restaurant would call it "deconstructed" haha!
@@GreenoEats They are a law unto themselves in that there London! 😅

Thanks Greeno, bit of useless info, my Dad's sister lived in Colehill and my Cousin married Gary Alice son of the Golfer Peter, an idiot from my perspective!! Regards to the family, pp: my Pigeon was delicious! 👍👍🤗🤗
Interesting!! Glad the pigeon was good Jacqui!!
Don’t you mean Alliss?
@@joustjoust1735 Sorry, joke between me and my Dad, as Gary was a softie, so between us we just called him Alice!
Looked lovely home-cooked food {if not a real Toad}. You'll have to come out to Fordingbridge one day. Lovely little town and loads of, individual, family owned cafe's and eateries. The Potting Shed at Hyde Garden Centre does a fantastic breakfast.
Thanks for the tip - although it's not far I haven't been to Fordingbridge in years!!
Happy Remembrance day ❤
Fanny's batter and a few inches of sausage. Absolute filth.
Now now, get your mind out of the gutter haha 🤣
the worst thing about watching your videos and the other review guys I watch, is now I want a pork pie! but the nearest shop is 3 miles away and I have just finished a beer ,oh well beans on toast it is then
Haha - sorry about that!!
Looks like a lovely place Greeno, nice selection of cakes, and other bits and bobs, i don't think you can call that a toad in the hole, it needs to be actual sausages in the batter, that's a proper toad in the hole, i did like the teapot and cup and saucer, very nice.
Lots to like about this place - just with they had made a proper toad in the hole!
All looked good, not enough gravy mind ( it was not toad in the hole ) for me and surprised with Wensleydale, it’s pretty flavourless to compete with pickle. Would definitely visit if I was near, tea pot was lovely, nice and big.
Good one.😊
It's well worth a visit should youever be nearby - I can't wait to go back and get stuck into some of their cake!
That’s definitely not a toad in the hole. It’s just a sausage and mash meal with a Yorkshire pudding. Looks tasty though.
Agreed 🙂
Nice review Greeno, your food looks very nice chap 😋😋👌👌 Good value for money too….
Thanks for the kind words David!
Wenleydale is 50% Cow milk and 50% Goat milk, I believe. Its delicious.
I didn't know that, interesting!!
@GreenoEats That's why it has that creamy crumbley texture.
@@paulclancy4221 makes sense
@@GreenoEatsI had to laugh at your description "If Cheddar and Feta had a baby". Pretty accurate really.
Not a toad in the hole but it looked lovely food,i love bubble @squeak yummy, great review Greeno
Glad you enjoyed it Debbie!
Since I have no clue what a real Toad in the Hole is I am not getting involved in the debate. Still, the meal you had looks delicious.
👍👍
Haha - very diplomatic Patrick - you are a wise man!!
Yes overall it was a tasty feed at a reasonable price - just wasn't quite as advertised :-)
That place looks like a little gem Greeno. Great big potvof tea for under £3. Whats not to love. The toad in/on the hole looked great and acpork pie that has a decent filling is a bonus.
Yes - a very good little place - reasonably priced. Just need to learn what a toad in the hole is haha!
Hi greeno that looked delicious and good value but that toad in the hole should have been toad outside the hole ha ha ❤❤😊😊
Yep, toad adjacent to a hole lol
Interesting food for a day that looked a little bleak and cold to me,i certainly would be eating inside. The food looked fine for a lunch to suit the conditions.Good review
No room at the inn for me to sit inside, but I don't mind a bit of fresh air, and as others have pointed out before, my physique is somewhat suited to winter conditions haha!
I love Yorkshire pud, and, as for the positioning of the sausages, I'm not too fussy as long as the components of the meal are in the same postcode area as each other. Hole on the plate, toad reading his daily paper and sitting astride his moped.🎉
I think it does make a slight difference with the sausages being cooked in the batter, but it was still a tasty meal!!
