- This was a Uber Eats ride along in Canada like no other. I finally got the chance to go out and do some Uber Eats orders after being sick for a while and of course Uber Eats is robbing and getting robbed left right and center. I know that as a Uber Eats driver we are the ones who have to clean up the mess after a mess is caused and not even get properly paid for it is unbelievable. As a gig worker in this gig economy, it's hard already sometimes to make money but when stuff like this happens, it gets even worse. I can't believe Uber Eats is hiding the delivery drop off locations here in Canada now too.

The not showing pick up and drop off locations "glitch" is for doubles. I'm on a bike so I only accept those now if the milage is low and/or the pay is very high.
And I'm sick of these bitch ass drivers stealing food and restaurant workers asking me to swipe when I pick up because these thieves are ruining this for everyone else who is doing the job properly. Wish Uber world find a working solution for this instead of stupid crap that they think lines their pockets more.
Yeah sadly the "hiding addresses" seems to be here to stay which is highly annoying because we have the rights to see where we are going. I do agree , I rather click that I'm ready to deliver when I'm in my car than in the restaurant , I only showed it because it's becoming too much in my market but I agree Uber needs to find a fix to this garbage
I personally hate when merchants demand that I start the delivery/confirm pickup. They have tablets. They can monitor if/when a driver has un-assigned an order. They can reach out to customer service and cancel/remake orders BEFORE it's assigned to a new driver if they think something's fishy. Hell, DD even allows merchants to ban drivers. That's their responsibility to know how to run a business. There are some merchants who tell me MY NAME when I walk through the door because they know how to verify orders properly. I liken being told to confirm orders even before I leave a merchant to being followed around a grocery store. That's not how it's supposed to work. And yes, drivers shouldn't steal food, but I literally avoid merchants that are pushy (making me sign receipts, yelling at me to confirm orders - Wingstop is really bad about this! - or other non-sense such as signing a log book. None of these things will prevent me from stealing food or prevent my car from breaking down while I have an order and can't deliver it. That has happened by the way. Sorry Loro customer!). Just my thoughts. Glad you got your full base pay on that order though!
I can understand your point of view and I don't like it either but it's those bad apples that keep giving us the bad names and the "stink eye" from many of these locations because they believe that if one is bad , they all must be. If I tell them at least how to avoid it through our side , it's just us being transparent with the location to give them a bit more peace of mind but I do totally get where you are coming from.
I don't care about confirming a pickup once the staff has handed the order to me. A couple times they asked me to confirm before they handed the order to me. No! I explained that I can't confirm anything until that full order is in my hands.
Yah, Uber has been doing that on Stacked orders. It's so annoying. I got caught with one last night. Luckily, the far order was paying very very well but I wouldn't have taken it if I saw that.
Yeah it's now on all stacked orders where the money is more than the distance. What I don't like is I can't even see the second restaurant until I accept, previously I could get an idea.

@Dash With Ash in Canada last night i was doing doordash in the Plateau. I went to A&W and the store said my order was already picked up and they watched the dasher confirm. It was only 4 items so they made my order and i informed the client. Client said it was fine. Now on my next dash it was a sushi place right before closing. 18$ for 7km. I got there and the same thing happened. They were also closing their doors. I called doordash and they canceled the order for me and i was paid half the guaranteed amount but i was still very frustrated. They said it wont effect any of my ratings and i am a top dasher so ratings are extremely important to me but they could not explain why dashers were being double booked for the same order. Very weird..

Its also not showing me the drive/distance for some UberEats order and I dash in your neck of the woods as well. I don't know how you constantly hang around the Brossard/Greenfield Park/Lafleche. Lots of lowball offers there. Dix30 is much better but much more distance for each order. I dash more in St-Bruno/St-Basile/Beloeil. Less order but higher average pay. Anyways Keep up the good workl!!!
Everytime I go to St Bruno I get nothing lol I feel like it would be good but maybe I'm doing something wrong. I do go to Dix30 often enough when it takes me there lol I find in Dix30 it's always some annoying highrise that makes parking so complex lol so I avoid it but I'll take what you said into consideration lol
Uber plays its games too. In some markets(not mine yet fortunately) if you don't accept a minimum of 3/10 offers they won't show restaurant names and cross streets for the delivery until you accept.
I hate that I can't even see the second restaurant on the map to get an idea where I am going I have to find out later when I check it's beyond dumb

I don't understand. How does another driver steel someone elses order? If it's assigned to you, how could they have the info to where it's going? How could they get paid for it? Are they just steeling food for themselves?
Good question , but they show up , claim the clients name, take the food and then cancel before they marked "start delivery" so they don't get caught. Then Uber can't claim fraud because it seems they didn't even have the food. They would get paid $3 and if you did that enough times , quickly within a hour. I think it might do well but I'm not about to try it lol. Ubers fault for not better protecting themselves and everyone else
@@DashWithAshinCanada . Ok so it gets reassigned after they cancel and then take it. I was thinking how could 2 drivers be assigned the same order at the same time? I don't understand how they get $3 for canceling an order though. I don't steel orders, but I have had to cancel pickups. I've never gotten $3 for it.
@@DashWithAshinCanada . Doesn't the merchants app show if their order was picked up? If the driver cancels, it should show in their app as not picked up yet, then if the driver takes it, then the merchant/resturant can call uber or even the police because that is theft.
Hey Ashley, I drive in Ottawa, and yes recently they haven't been showing dropoff for doubles here either. They do show singles always regardless of pay or distance. I doubt it's a glitch unfortunately. I'm not sure on the logic behind this decision, seems like less orders will be delivered because of this, I certainly decline more orders now because I don't know where they are going. Now I only do massive paying doubles or very short ones, which ironically I seem to make more money now lol. I get the feeling this change is here to stay however.
I also deliver in Ottawa. Yes it's a crap shoot sometimes with those double orders. I can't stand it when I find out it's going to one of those scummy appartment buildings on the 20th floor.
Rather it's single orders or batched orders , I don't see the point in them not showing the drop off because if it's good enough to begin with , we will likely take it but not if we can't see it , makes it feel so odd now

I've noticed in some areas where my network isn't as good, I sometimes don't get address or even mileage. That vendor though! man, hate that dashers still to that!
Yeah , it's happening everywhere now and it's sad because we used to not be in that bracket but now they even put us there.

Off topic question Ash, what insurance do you have? Just wondering coz here in Ontario I don’t think there’s any insurance company that caters to couriers.
I have car insurance with La Capital but you are correct. They don't offer much towards couriers or drivers in general. They have already let me know when it comes to gig work they don't cover pretty much any of it because I'm an independent contractor

It's beyond dumb , they shouldn't be doing that to us! We deserve to know our drop off locations
Glitch or not Uber needs to compensate better and have better support for the people that make them $$$. We live a day and age where the worker is highly underpaid undervalued. The decent worker that tries to do their best gets abused. Glad we have people like you Ash to call this all out. Great video too 😊

Funny thing is Uber knows exactly what their doing and so do door dash with playing mind games to push a person till a point on quitting their apps. If anything I hope the labor department does something about these apps getting away with crap for way too long.

Hey do you mean the base fare offers like the $2-3 because here in Canada , there is no minimum wage salary for food deliveries unlike what is being talked about in the US

Eventually drivers will pay a fee to use the apps and essentially pay them a commission to work. That actually happens now to a degree every time you fill up and start your vehicle to do deliveries. But the apps will soon have a formal plan where you will pay to be fed offers. Think im crazy? Alrighty then!!!

I got $0 for one of the two stops on a double. I remember dropping off alcohol twice. I also got $0 when somebody said they didn't receive their food. 1,250+ deliveries. Driving for Uber is like being in an abusive relationship.
Yeah I am tired of Uber walking all over their drivers. that's why I love being able to document this stuff and share it.
I had that situation last week where I had a $25 Taco Bell Uber double that a driver swiped. Knew that offer was too good to be true. Ended up with the big $3. Should have done what you did and spoke with a manager.
Yeah on those "too good to be true" orders I don't want to be wasting my time especially if I am taking the liberty of calling the client. I know it wasn't in the recording but I asked the man if he would make the order and he said yes so when he cancelled it , I was not happy at all. That's not how "yes I'll make it" works and when I told him he just cost me my earnings , he didn't even care so Uber got to pay for that
Friday saturdayvand Sunday is the busiest try nights too if you can you get more deliveries and more tips
Yeah I'll be doing more nights and possibly weekend more often. The money isn't there as much otherwise
I hate that they include the potential earnings with “tips” now I understand how tip baiting work! Good to know that Uber eats is the one that pays the more! When I do start I will definitely start with Uber and work my way from there … gonna watch the rest as I m here folding laundry! Glad you are back and hopefully sickness stays away from you ❤❤❤

Yeah , Uber stole our rights away once again to know where we are supposed to be dropping off the orders as if that even needed to be hidden.
I knew it was going to be a matter of time ash before uber started doing that shit in canada they whine and complain about it if cancel the order but I don't give if the distance isn't worth the pay then damn it I'm canceling it. Don't let them guilt trip into talking orders that aren't worth your time nor let them threaten you with terminating your account cancel and decline the hell out of those shitty orders. 😉
Well on the bright side , it was a really good order lol but yes I would cancel or decline in a heart beat if things went south.
