Autism Nighttime Routine
Вставка
- Опубліковано 4 жов 2024
- Abbie's nightime routine isn't all that different from everybody else"s except she is learning life skills during hers.
It would be so much easier in the moment to just do everything for my daughter that she struggles with but it will be harder for her and for us later on in life. We use these daily living experiences to teach her the life skills she needs to grow and thrive. Not every night looks like this. Sometimes she just falls asleep wherever she's at and we get her to her room doing our best not to wake her up too much. This is an ideal night routine.

I'm autistic. I just don't like people in general. I hate the mall unlike most 17 year old girls
i like how he doesn’t just do everything for her, if she doesn’t do it he asks multiple times so she is actually learning to do things by herself and he’s not doing everything for her

@Ringsfjord he is informing others about autism, not exploiting her in anyway.
Also is the idea of talking in front of camera ok? Like her daughter might think daddy's talking to air, everyone else does it so I should too.
Just because shes non verbal doesnt mean she doesnt know whats going on. Maybe do some research.
She's such a beautiful girl. It makes me so happy to see her father being so patient and understanding with her.
Sometimes you gotta be patient with autism. And I can say this coz my bro has autism. And it can be hard at times but I love him too much to give up coping with him.

I'm hope nobody's giving you a hard time about the doorknob. I remember someone called CPS on my neighbor because their son had autism and they also had the doorknob on backwards to keep their son safe in their room and the CPS worker said it was abuse to lock kids up and told them they had to take the lock off. They had the hardest time keeping him in his room at night and he would wander and get into everything. It was ridiculous that they gave them a hard time.
I got the same warning from my daughter's case manager years ago not to lock her in at night. People who don't live it who are making the rules. 🙄
I had to do the same thing for my son for awhile. I couldn’t risk him walking out of the house without me noticing. People who don’t deal with this on a daily will never understand
@@MrsShinnjo Completely agree. It's just something you end up doing, because it equates to safety. People who haven't spent months and years caring for an autistic person have no right to impose rules, on a situation which they have not experienced themselves.
Exactly. It's not like if she really felt like she needed to get out they would keep her locked in there, its more to discourage her from leaving her room just because
Motion sensor alarms would be better. Kids have reasons for wanting to leave. Locking someone up against their will isn’t right, especially if they have disabilities. I myself have autism and I left my room all the time at night when I was little because I was extremely scared of darkness. If my parents had reversed the locks and just kept me in there against my will, I would have been forced to remain with the thing I feared and I would have been traumatized.

@Emily Kay I overheard my mom calling me a loser on a phone call with one of her friends 😂😂😂

There are so many misconceptions about autism. I had no idea what it was until Mon son was diagnosed at 3. It was scary and took a huge toll on my marriage bc I didn't have the love and support. Once my husband accepted it, it made things better. I still do research bc theres so much to know. Not every child has the same symptoms.
Best advice is if you feel like something is wrong, go with your gut. If a doctor tells you everything is fine, see another one. You know your child/children better than anyone so don't feel discouraged with one doctor. That happened to me. I knew there was something was wrong. I switched my sons doctor and he's great.
I love the communication the dad has with his daughter. He treats her as a normal teen. Constantly talking to her will get her to respond, even if it's not in words.

Dude, you are freaking amazing. Me and my wife adopted 4 biological siblings last year and we already had two children. So we now have six children and one of which has just been diagnosed with a low spectrum of autism, ptsd and cognitive behavioral issues and he’s 13, so this is really helpful to watch and understand.
I have autism and it was so bad when I was younger. I'm 16 now and I don't even feel like I have autism for the most parts anymore. I do get those moments sometimes but not a lot.
Can you tell me what parts you struggle with now? I’d just like to know what mild autism can look like
@@Freetown37 One example is my emotions. I can't control them whatsoever. I would be very happy but suddenly I get angry or something for no absolute reason. There was one time where I got super depressed for no reason. I also get stressed out very easily and I worry a lot.

My brother was diagnosed with autism when he was 3 and he’s been on medication ever since (vivance, for focus and what not) At 16 he quit his medication and surprisingly started trying new things. He was always a very picky eater and had VERY few items he would eat. The few things he would eat were very plain average things. Now at almost 18 he enjoys spicy chicken sandwiches, bbq chips, grilled burgers, chick fil a mac n cheese, and so much more.
I took vyvanse it made me violent so they took me off of it and that descision helped immensely attitude wise did your brother have that issue as well. Just curious. Glad to hear hes doing so well.
