how does this work out when working with stock say castings which can be sometimes over size up to an inch in any direction? This seems to be maybe a crash maybe?

I started a new job on some Horizontals and they are using G10 on all the machines. The problem is that if you have to rerun a sequence, you have to manualy/MDI the G10 start up program so you don`t scrap a part. These are military grade parts and I think there is a way to have the program reload the G10 numbers so it doesn`t scrap the part. Is there a way to safeguard a program to load the G10 lines before every sequence? They told me it is not possible.

I use G10 all the time to load tool offsets.
For Example, my driven tools for a particular job:
    G10 P10002 X -300.000 R 10.000 Q0.
    G10 P10003 X -300.000 R 5.000 Q0.
    G10 P10004 X -300.000 R 3.000 Q0.
    G10 P10005 Z -40.000 R 0.750 Q0.
    G10 P10009 Z -40.000 R 0.000 Q0.
    G10 P10010 Z -40.000 R 1.250 Q0.
This prevents the machine setter forgetting to manually input the non-probed geometry values. (I've done it)
My CAM package always outputs work offsets like this:
    G10 L2 P1 etc etc
    G10 L2 P2 etc etc
    G11
The manual says G11 is Programmable Data Input Cancel. My question is why should I use G11?
If I don't use G11 the data still goes where I want it, and no other data is stored or overwritten until I manually change something or run another G10 line. In which case what's the point of G11?
Why do I need to tell the NC that I'm finished inputting data? The data input is finished so I just drive on.
    Just curious

Can this method be used on a lathe for Z and C work offsets?
