Construction as an Architectural Project
We relate to our environment through perception and reflection. Our idea of space is shaped by the physical elements that define its boundaries.
These space-defining elements are constructed artifacts or imagined constructs: they have dimensions, materiality, surface properties, and depth. They are interconnected, organized according to certain principles, and combined to form ensembles - they follow an idea. Architecture is a system of constructive elements that, as a whole, create meaningful entities.
The lecture will focus on the potential of constructive systems to define the character of architectural spaces. It will open a perspective on how the materialization, assembly of elements, and the manner of their connection create a meaningful whole: an architectural system.
