Thanks for the excellent demo. I’m in a situation where my electric guitar is being ran through a DI box that splits the signal into an onstage amp and a mixer with no amp/cabinet simulator. The guitar in the main mix sounds terrible, and I’ve been looking for a DI box with a good but cheap amp/cabinet simulator to resolve this issue. This one checks off all I need. Needless to say, I’m gonna add this pedal to my rig ASAP. Thanks so much again!
Wow once again a surprising pedal that does way more than you'd expect it to do especially for the price by this brand. Dynamite demo and explanation as only could be told by THE TONE KING!!!
I would have liked to hear this unit through an acoustic guitar with a passive pickup. I believe this unit has a switch with 0, -20db, and +20db, and maybe this would be good for a weaker passive acoustic pickup?
I cant find an answer on this question and I think you could help. I want to put this at the end of my effects loop after my delays so I can send all the tones from my preamp and pedals into front of house via xlr out with cab sim on. My amp doesn't have a di out and I like having it as a backup for when a mic'd cab might not work or to just mix against a micd cab. My question is, does the cab sim also get sent along the unbalanced 1/4 line when the balanced line is connecting? I want to send the unbalanced out back into the return of my fx loop but I dont want the cab sum coloring my tone into my power amp which already feeds my real cabinets. Basically a "thru" or "dry" non cab-simmed signal.
I have an ampless setup. I have a stereo pedal at the end of my chain which I plug to the left and right of my studio monitor. If I buy this and use XLR to TS and plug it to the left channel will I get sound on both my speaker? Or do I need an XLR to dual TS?
Its worth saying for anyone who comes across this that multiple companies sell this same product in a different casing and brand name, the controls and sound should be identical.
Perfect timing bruthahhhh!!!!! Just purchased a Kemper and apparently I will be needing a DI Box. I'm thinking for $30 I'll be trying that one. Great video TK
+Truck Driver Shawn (TDS) Really? I'm not that familiar w the features of the Kemper but I'm suprised it doesn't have balanced output and/or cab simulation. Hmmm. Either way, glad you found the video useful :-)
Thinking I need one of those DI Boxes to run from the back of my pre amp pedals direct into mic input of my Zoom Q8. No need for amp that way... 4x12 cab simulator would make it sound good I think. I will have to try this out and see what happens.
Question could I run my amp cabinet head into that pedal and then use the line out to my speaker so I have on stage monitor and still send my EQ and signal to the board? I'm assuming this would work like the red Box which will allow you to go between your cabinet and your amp head
Hello Tone King I appreciate you videos a whole lot. I bought the Donner DI box but the power supply I have cause it to be very noisy even having the ground lift activated. I was wondering what power supply did you use to power the pedal correctly? Thanks
Ground lift is when you have noisy signals in the ground path and it takes the ground path out of the signal. If there is alot of noise you can try it and see it solves the problem (or at least gives you less noise)
@@JimijaymesProductions will this eliminate amp hum in max gain even if im still using 1/4 cable? mine electrician couldn't fix that amp hum its a ground loop problem. when i touch the metal parts of guitar the hum is gone, my house and guitar grounding is alright. It's some weird issue, can this di box fix it? I have a noise gate for my pedalboard, the hum appears only in cranked gain. Best regards, ty.
@@melodicshredder5834 that's interferance, only way to help that is shielding. The reason you touching strings reduces it is because you are now a shield. If it's under gain you might need a noise gate because you'll never fully eliminate interference.
Curious if anyone knows how to fix this: My guitar signal is extremely hot, and when I plug it directly into my audiobox (presonus usb96) it clips with all the knobs turned to 0, and has a digitally crap sound when i palm mute. Is this a DI box fix, or a preamp fix? Using Studio One 5, and Aurora Rhino for my amp/cab sim.
Thank you for this great video! I'm currently using a behringer active DI but I get too much white noise. I'm willing to try the Donner but not sure it'll solve my problem. I plug my strat into a set of pedals, plug into the DI and then the mixer. Quick thoughts? :)
Can i use the balance and unbalance output together at the same time? I mean, the unbalance output direct to my amp while the balance output right thru the P.A?
How would you connect it with RME babyface sound card ?Don't have idea but i think i need it.Baby is going by USB to the mac and i connect my guitar strait to it.Thank you.

Is this the same as the Fender, Xvive, etc?? Just a rebranded item??
Splendid video, likely the most helpful, clear, complete. Just a question : can the Di Box be used to plug a pedalboard directly into a mixer only if the OD you have in such board is a preamp, or you can use the most simple OD to get the drive? Ts9 simple I mean ..
I like how I can have a single component like the helix to tonal characteristics of all the amps behind you, but hot damn, I would much rather just have all the amps behind you! Nice DI demo nonetheless
hello! i want to ask, because i wanted to record a clean track (no pedals) and a track with the pedal engaged. at the same time so i have a clean track that i can work with later. Does a DI box help with this purpose?
Hello. What's the use "thru" input in d.i. boxes. And if I use d.i. box, will I get the same sound from my favorite amp to input to the mixer to the loudspeaker or PA?
Would it still work if i connect into the 3.5mm mic input of my windows laptop from the balanced XLR out of the DI with a use of an adapter? (Completely skipping the mixer) Can anyone answer please? Thanks in advance! :)
This looks similar to the Mooer Micro DI. Nice demo!!! I have a question: if my mixer doesn't have XLR input, or I want to use it with 2 amps that I know are causing earth loop and none of them has XLR input, is there a good way to make a cable that is one tip XLR and the other tip for standard P10 jack?
Id guess the XLR is mic level and balanced and the 1/4 out is unbalanced guitar signal which means it could pick up noise over long runs and may be high impedance (if you dont have a buffer) so you would need to connect to a hiz input (pretty much a DI inside the mixer). The XLR could do longer runs and goes straight into the mic input on a mixer or interface. The 1/4 is usually used so you can still go to an amp and then the DI'ed xlr signal goes to recording or mixer
am i right in saying you should never plug an acoustic electric guitar into a guitar amp? risk of blowing them? i know you can blow a PA doing that but i forget the rules lol! been on hiatus lately or have i been missing stuff?
The best DI tutorial on the Internet, period. Now I know how a DI and a cab simulator works. Thank you!

That guitar looks unreal! Great video.
This would be a nice DI box to have! The cab simulation is really nice extra! Thanks for the review!
+Kurgle Kreutzer Thank you for the thanks!
thanks for eliminate my doubt about which is the placement of a Di in the chain signal
How do you re-amp with this?
don't you just love technology ... 10 years ago Bheringer DI box (which is the cheapest in market) cost $75-80 and now you can get half of price.
But that was an active DI!
I would have liked to hear this unit through an acoustic guitar with a passive pickup. I believe this unit has a switch with 0, -20db, and +20db, and maybe this would be good for a weaker passive acoustic pickup?

Luke Reiss yes, get and use a XLR to standard adapter
There are XLR(F) to standard cable plug (M) wires
can u run a mp3 thru this
Yes i try it for 1yr now 3.5mm to Pl inout to DI box din input xlr to mixer
Wow, $30 Active DI pedal? Wonder how this compares with a $160 Countryman 85 for DI recording.
Or Rupert Neve RNDI :) which blows all these out of the water
What order to I connect up? DI box. Effects. Instrument. Amp
Any differences between XLR and 1/4 TRS when connecting to the mixer? Thank you.

Could I run this between a tube amp and it's speaker in order to get a direct line out from the amp?
Dude you got me thinking. This would be great for a direct out on vintage amps, (5E3 Tweed), that don't have a direct out.
Can you plug in the Unbalanced Output to a guitar amplifier?
kernelspy yes. I have one, I put the Xlr into my focusrite and unbalanced into the amp
Is the box needs a power supply to work?
I think so. It might take a 9V battery too, but in my experience, Di boxes function best with a power supply.
Can I get the same results with an Amp Simulator + Normal DI Box ?
You still need a cab sim some where after the Amp sim
Hi mr. Could you tell if its active or passive di? Regards, Luigi
Its active. Anything with a 9v connector or battery is active.
@@riknl5307 my doubt was that the battery was for the cab simulator, not for the dy amp integrated circuit
I learned a lot, thanks m8

No, that would be incorrect.
What you should be doing is turning the volume down before plugging in or plugging out your guitar.
Nice.

To much talk
Bla bla bla...
Can this also be used from amp speaker output to audio interface?
If you skip the real speaker and instead use the pedal as a replacement it should work.
