I left the town many years ago. But I went back about the time they were tearing all the old town down ( funeral) . I saw nothing I recognised anymore . Can you tell me, anyone who lives there and who might consider themselves born and/ or bred Cradley Heath - has progress been worth it? Has it made things better?
I was there from 96 - 98 working for Richard Bedall and Doug Newbold at a little shop called Imprint. I cannot believe that the town is basically unrecognizable from that era. Imprint is gone, The big printing factory is history, the old factory by the train station is gone and so is the Church. I guess things have to move on.
Merry Hill did that, and the other out of town shopping centres. Then internet shopping finished the job. Tesco and the Bypass are not the real culprits, it's happened all over the country

Absolutely destroyed the local retailers businesses. The town itself is dead.

They decimated cradley heath and lomey town with that stupid bypass, and the less said about that swine sylvia heal the better
