It’s especially difficult as Protoss since all your attacks are projectile, so hard A clicking on the medivac likely generates a lot of volley wastage that is likely only possible for the very top players. I think it’s much easier A targeting banelings for marines since it’s hitscan and just jumps to the next target given marine firing speed during stim. Watching maxpax individually blinking stalkers is truly beautiful to watch, compared to someone like Hero who, while incredible, usually blinks in clumps.
@@adrenaline98I played a balance mod where stalker attacks are hitscan and they're like 100x more usable. The amount of overkill damage in regular games it is actually ridiculous
You can see Clem making that very hard by pulling out of stalker range with boost usually. Still the right call, but you have to retarget ground units sometimes when the medivac is out of range, or the cyclone/marauder will do too much damage.
A disrupter is locked in position while it's shot is in transit, but not even Clem noticed that detail, and his instincts kicked in. If it was intentional MaxPax has reached a new level and we should all tremble.

MaxPax is such a nice guy, dealing 80% of his damage with Blink Stalkers on 500APM every 30 seconds throughout the game and then letting the occasional tier 3 unit look like it's useful. Seriously, sometimes I feel like MaxPax is building colossi only so that the Terran has to build something that doesn't counter Stalkers, so that he can abuse Stalkers some more. Sometimes I wish Blink wasn't half as good as it is, so that the rest of the race could be balanced properly in return. edit: having watched the series to the end, I'm now even more depressed... the ONE GAME out of six that MaxPax doesn't do Blink and goes Phoenix Colossus instead, he loses spectacularly despite not doing any major mistakes on execution. So is that all the protoss is now? Blink or die? qq
Protoss is a balancing nightmare (and so are Ghosts and other caster units) because their performance is so micro dependent. this level of blink micro has to be balanced around or it'll break the game... but in so doing, anyone below that level of skill can't use that and gets dumpstered regularly.

Watching MaxPax i dont even know how it is humanely possible, you got to locate the stalkers that are being damaged, select them, and blink back, all in litteraly microseconds, becasue in a second a stalker dies against even small amount of bio.

Sending a sacrifical disruptor behind a disruptor shot from another disruptor was epic. Never seen that. Clem destroys sacrificial disruptor... then splat.
That first game was an excellent example against people saying SC2 has become all about mechanics and not about strategy. Clem has arguably the best mechanics/micro in all of SC2, but MaxPax just had some next tier strategizing and won.
Back in 1999, in high school and the most beloved "drafting" student of my teacher, I asked him "would you mind if some friends and I played some games on these computers during lunch? He had no problem with it and I began playing LAN SC. I lost 2-3 substantial years of my life COMPLETELY addicted to the game. I would fall asleep at night thinking about how I could fine tune builds, counter certain aggression, be the best. At some point, I thought I was "the best", that's where college and Koreans come in. HAHAH, Long and Tan taught me, very quickly, that there was MORE to the game than I have previously though. Interesting cut short... I think MaxPax will become the greatest of all time. I think this is the first game that I see a pro protoss wining a game against another pro. To be honest the micro and macro of maxpax was clean af but clem made some critical mistakes like getting destroyed by DTs and loosing medevac with ciclone inside that I hope not to see often, 2nd game was just perfect from maxpax nothing to say watching that kind of level at stalkers micro made me feel that maybe, just maybe we can see nice protoss matches in the future. What I would love to see it, this and watching more mOOtalisk games vs terran from zerg pros.

When casters can so confidently say thing like "Protoss will always lose an engagement to Terran without a supply or tech advantage" it should be obvious the balance is fucked. Just watching the difference in DPS between 20 supply of Gateway units and 20 supply of Barracks units should set off alarm bells. Protoss has some neat tricks, but every pro sticking with them is essentially playing from a massive inherent disadvantage.
Maybe I’m delusional here, but honestly it feels like Clem isn’t really trying/showing his hand (builds) at this point. This isn’t to discredit maxpax at all, who is clearly the cleanest and best Protoss in the world and who I feel could beat any current player of any race. I’m not sure what these tourneys are worth but I’d imagine after winning nearly $1m in money, it wouldn’t surprise me if he took a more Serral approach and just use these weekly tourneys to keep up his mechanics.
Im Protoss and MaxPax is one of our only hopes, and he played great, but I to feel Clem was not in his best shape in this serie and maybe expermienting with new stuff.

Every other tarren has it, I mean, why not just give protoss colsi the ability to target air with some type of weaker weapon as well? It has way too many counters anyways, at least softten the counters would help at least make it a unit that can last more than just a window. With that said, vikings way too way too good of unit really. Along with the fact that toss just doesnt have much ground units that can shoot air.
Considering MaxPax's precision with the map control and those blink stalkers, he definitely feels like the best player right now. Probably only the lack of power of the Protoss tools held him back for so long.

People always say Protoss is easy but Blink/Prism has a super high skill ceiling. MaxPax is insane

There's lots of fires that can burn underwater irl and this is sci-fi, so, y'know. Funky materials/munitions
there's not really any fire, the hellion throws thermite filaments, the firebat used to throw plasma, a lot of things are just explosions, etc.
