Im really happy for Olivia & Rags. It was an emotional reunion but so lovely to see them back together. Glad that Rags is ok & thank you to the police officers who saved him & brought him home to his family. ❤❤ UK.
Ok, I knew there had to be more to the story because the dog showed no recognition or affection towards this woman. I found the news video from when Rags was stolen a year ago. Rags prior family is an elderly couple who could no longer physically care for him. They contacted a Sheepdog rescue because they wanted to make sure and find him a good home. The rescue suggested this woman. The adoption was contingent on the elderly couple still being able to see and be a part of his life. Upon adoption, they said the woman cut them off and would not let them see the dog. They sued for wrongful detainment. The video is on Fox 10 UA-cam from 1 year ago - Stolen deaf sheepdog Rags.
@@Macsrus5- I do feel sympathy for the elderly couple who apparently originally had Rags. It does get a bit tricky in that they *surrendered* Rags to the rescue - gave him to the rescue - to have the rescue get Rags adopted. They did. If the adoption contract contained the obligation to allow Rags's original owners to be in his *new life post adoption* and this woman signed it, then she did renege on it. Btw, that is HUGE to ask of the adopters. Not to mention how *extremely confusing* that arrangement would be for Rags. Who are "his humans" or not? Add in being with yet some other people for a year, I feel So Sorry for Rags!!
This is why it needs to be left to the court. News stories do not have all the intricate details of this case. Some things to keep in mind: 1. Rags is deaf- meaning, he’s going to respond and interact with environments differently than the average hearing dog. 2. If this was the case for that elderly couple why on earth was the solution to stalk someone’s home and have someone break in, enter, and steal the dog away? That’s CRIMINAL no matter how you swing it. While I agree she should not have had her door unlocked, it’s still wrong. 3. In all honesty I would probably not want someone to be able to visit the dog they adopted out. It’s confusing to the dog and painful for every party. Please don’t make assumptions on either party based on speculation. Let the court decide.
So thankful that rags was returned home. We have two adorable and wonderful Shetland sheep dogs, and they are our family, like our children. If someone stole one of them, I would be inconsolable. If the original owners gave him up for adoption, and then change their mind months later, I’m sorry, but someone else took the responsibility to take care of him and love him when you didn’t.
This is a sad and happy story. The original owners missed him and wanted him back. They should be happy that Rags is living with a new family and is loved.
@@jacqueline1623 Did you ever question how this person got into the house without the door locked? And how they have stated that the person who took the dog knew the owner? Doesn't. It seem a little curious that they don't have released all the facts?

What if there were reports of abuse or neglect? Why would you automatically assume that the original owners were somehow in the wrong? It didn't seem odd to you that the dog ran right past her after being separated for a year? One thing I know is dog behavior, and that dog's behavior shows that he has no emotional attachment to that woman whatsoever. Something definitely seems off with this whole situation.

@@silasxiii The original owners were in the wrong because they kidnapped the dog. That is not an acceptable solution. I agree that the dog did not seem to have much of a connection to her but that could just be the dog's personality too. It doesn't have to mean there's abuse going on. Clearly we don't have enough information to fully evaluate the situation.
You're literally the only person commenting on here who has a working brain in their skull. Because A, why was there a lawsuit filed to get the dog back? And B, why after a year apart did the dog run right past her like he's got no emotional connection to her? There seems to be either a dog abuse or neglect situation going on here with his supposed "real family."
Stalking (because we all know they had to be stalking the new owner), breaking and entering, theft of a dog, transporting stolen property across state lines (makes it a federal case). The Alabama state police better get on this ASAP, or else this could eacalate real quickly; especially since the original owners live in the same state as the new owners and the original owners also know the address of Rags' new family. I hope the authorities take this seriously.
Bring charges now!! Poor Rags and her family was missing each other and so worried. Wonderful news they are finally reunited and hopefully will keep close eye on her incase they try to do something like this again.
There is obviously more to the story. I wonder if the original owners asked for her to watch him for a few months and then she wouldn't give him back? So who really stole the dog?
So... The original owners that she adopted Rags from stole him back? It was obvious from the burglary video that the dog knew the person. First place I would have sent the cops.
We don't know the whole story. Obviously there have been lawsuit from the original owner to get the dog back after giving it up for adoption. It could be that the new owner refused to give up thus lawsuits. Out of no choice they stole it. I mean this is not thief who stole and sold but returned to the old owner. They obviously couldn't bear parting with the dog so why not return to the original owner?
Lock your doors and windows when leaving the house. Microchip your pets. Never leave your purse, wallet, briefcase or other valuables in your vehicle. Maybe circumstances are changing with the law understanding that are pets have great value as family members. Only a few years ago most jurisdictions would not care much about the theft of a dog unless it was some type of show dog or something like that. I hope the dog thieves in both AZ and AL face legal ramifications. Dogs have a limited life span and they deprived the owner of a year in her dog's life plus all the emotional pain she surely went through.
Something about this story does not add up and the poor dog has been left in total confusion! Do we know who the person that came to the house and stole him was? Why was the door open? Something doesn't add up!
The original owners could have gone adopted another dog that needs a loving home but I guess they were obviously attached to Rags enough to pull off a kidnapping .
