Proper sailors don't like Hallberg Rassy anymore because they have gotten rid of their single skegged rudder and followed the modern trend of unprotected twin rudders - which are very dangerous for bluewater cruising.
Watching your video on my iPad while watching the Beatles on a big screen television UA-cam video playing “Hey Jude,” a perfect name for the boat. Hey Jude don’t let me down, she has found you now go and get her. Remember to let her into your heart, then you can start, to make it better. Better, better, better. Hey Jude, Jude, Jude, Judie. I need this boat bad. Thanks for the wonderful video and showing this very beautiful boat. Happy New Year.
If there was one item i could own in my life that boat is it! No interest in some 100 foot superyachts or mansions or whatever. This boat is it. Explore the whole world on my own, just me and the boat. Its a dream machine! Really nice precentation. Subscribed
I sailed a 46 for years, an excellent and very stable sailor. SF Bay, Coastal to Puerto Vallarta, north to Seattle. With full on heavy sea and strong tailwind she jibes like a dream, always in total control. You might thing the cockpit is small, but while sailing you feel comfortable as you are always close to a rail...
I personally think the HR 40C is a great luxury yacht, a fantastic bluewater cruiser. However, I still prefer the Sirius 40 DS, if I had the choice and, of course, the necessary "shrapnel" to afford such a fine boat.
@@boatagent Great presentation! I also agree with Colin, perhaps different cuts of video for different persona(s) of buyer? This video seemed pretty tailored for the coastal cruiser with some nods for longer distance. I'd also like to see a video aimed more at the long distance sailor, engine room, tanks, storage, redundancy, accessibility, comfort under sail, changes or recommendations for long distance outfitting, etc. This sort of detail would be fantastic to hear, an example of this without getting perhaps _too in the weeds_ is Pete Goss tour of the Garcia Exploration 45.
A handsome well laid out boat with only one noticeable oddity in design the the cockpit windows are stylistically awkward with the two competing designs; the larger longer ones would have been more appropriate if they'd been made longer doing away with the metal framed smaller rectangular ones, for consistency of design overall the rest is formidable !
I recognise those sheds and quay! 🙂 A gorgeous boat and the controls on the wheel binnacle? Could you ever need more for shorthanded sailing. Just gorgeous ❤
Bow should be longer than the stern. The deepest point of the hull is the stem one half the distance between the mast and forestay. If you keel the mast at the mast with a wing keel then you have to keel the headsails relative to the sail area of the head sail and the mast to keel the LWR of the keel line stem to stern.
The problem is unlike previous Rassy boat designs that are known doing ocean passages, the aft on this one has been made rather wide so this will roll more when cruising down wind. Better suited for cruising in the med than doing blue water sailing.
You are not alone. That's life. There's ppl out there that's way worse off doe. Enjoy whats within your reach and don't be sad about the unreachable things.
show the video, I was just confused because I always knew that Hallberg Rassy boats were blue water, and in your video you said that they are for coastal navigation, I don't understand
It is spacious but I am worried it has too much "dead space" that could have been used for cabinets and storage to make living aboard it easier and more comfortable
Very cool. Very similar to my grandparents old HR43 with only an additional bathroom in the place of the elongated galley. I love this interior design where you can go behind the cockpit underneath. It's such a nice separation of rooms - and of course in the 43 there's the bathroom in the rear for the master cabin as well. On another note. Does anybody know the name of the melody/music played in the background?
I have to agree. This is trying to appeal to the same market that Beneteau, and other coastal cruisers are interested in. To be fair he does admit that this is a coastal cruiser. Your boat is more of a blue water vessel.
I would love to see what the hardtop version looks like. Any renderings or video reviews of similar/sister boats to get an idea? Does the builder provide or can they arrange cross atlantic transfer to Maine with a purchase?
Electrical winches, electrical furling on jib and main... no mention of battery capacity or how the heck to keep them charged at sea without burning diesel for hours at a time... Well, at least it's got a cool wineglass rack. 🙄 Edit.. Love the boom clearance... perfect for taking off heads of unsuspecting crew during accidental gybes!
If I"ll put 1000 Euros on savings monthly, I need 36 years to buy such a boat. Damn, I'll be 72 that time... but I'll die allready till the time, probably. Thats a pity.
@@boatagent I delivered a 42 HR i think a 98 model to Fiji , Comfortable , Seaworthy & 4th out of 11 leaving Russel NZ , Smallest yacht in the group , Keen crew , enjoyable trip .
What about the engine: HP? And the rudders and the propulsion (saildrive) and the bow- and aft thruster(s)? Did you ever heard of a sailboat with aft thrusters...? Problem with the 2 side rudders (no skegs btw) and saildrive is, that you have no control on maneuvering at low speed (ports, births). Yes, that will be compensated by the thrusters (= more maintenance or failure). But why 2 rudders? For that more upwind sailing? But then the hull, keel and sailplan don't match. And then there is the teak deck (is that really teak?). Luckily it's glued on with no srews but teak decks in the end will bring you (costly) problems. For that kind of money i would look at other brands.
Rätt båt för trevlig kustsegling på semestern för den som vill visa sin ekonomiska framgång. Dvs en vanlig VD-båt från HR. Den som vill ha en oceangående båt söker sig söderut till Amel eller Garcia.
I hate this kind of cockpit, very tiring to always jump in and out. And the tables behind the glass of the dodger! The wood goes bad and it is only plywood. A good boat with a lot of little problems.
Niklas, a very professional guided tour, well done!!!
Also very professional video editing.
This is living life .. I more into sail boats as I have got Older .. I like the chill vibe
A most excellent professional walk through. Very enjoyable. Greetings From Scotland.
Thank you a lot!
@@boatagent so if I buy that boat I can go through a tropical storm ? you know, the one that is as near a cyclon as it gets...
Why would you go to tropical storm? Lmao are you suicidal? 😅 Park it behind an island.
having modernized their interiors, HR have really transformed their yachts. They are now gorgeous world class cruisers. No wonder sailors love them!
Proper sailors don't like Hallberg Rassy anymore because they have gotten rid of their single skegged rudder and followed the modern trend of unprotected twin rudders - which are very dangerous for bluewater cruising.
one of the most beautiful sailing boat ever

Look at the Kraken 50…
what a perfect boat for double handed sailing. Beautifully done presentation.
Thank you!
Very enjoyable and informative walk through.

Very nice presentation. Thank you for the info, and it is clear what pride you have in this vessel!
Superb review, well presented and informative. Conditions for sailing looked brilliant as well, good for demonstrating the character of the yacht.
We have just delivered a Hallberg Rassy 40c - a fabulous yacht!
Really a quite nice presentation of an excellent boat. Thanks for sharing this video. Love from 🇧🇻
Thank you!
Impressive. Quite a performance cruiser! A tremendous option for cruising the Maine-Maritimes-New England coast
Beautiful, great produced review of this beauty. Thank you so much!!

In-boom furling has improved to where I prefer it over in mast-furling.

amazing video... thanks so much...
HR makes a move to the coastal cruising sector. Hull ports! No more teak dungeon belowdecks
Beautiful boat! 🇳🇿
Nice video! Do any customers order these boats in a gas/diesel-free config with a large LiFePO4 bank, electric motor, induction cooking, etc.?
Thank you! I don’t think it’s possible to order the boat with electrical mail engine but you better ask Hallberg-Rassy directly for a correct answer.
Lovely. I’ve always liked these boats. Unfortunately I’ve never been able to afford them.

Good presentation - i just am not convinced that in mast furling is a good idea ! Is boom furling an option ?
Bra jobbat!
Well delivered presentation considering its freezing
Well done!
Great job! Thank You.
A wonderful sailboat but I’d like my rudders protected
What is this boat “for”? Is it an offshore cruiser? Or is it a blue water cruiser you could take anywhere?
show the video, I was just confused because I always knew that Hallberg Rassy boats were blue water, and in your video you said that they are for coastal navigation, I don't understand
I would like to know why all the videos I see of the Hallberg Rassy boat never show the boat's garage compartment, they don't make a complete video.
It is spacious but I am worried it has too much "dead space" that could have been used for cabinets and storage to make living aboard it easier and more comfortable
Nice boat , but what happens when you heel over with that very large aft section ?
Very nice boat ... love it

I'm sorry but the HR that I like have long keels, battened sails. This is a boat like many others with the name HR. From a HR 38 owner

Looks more like a Bavaria. Nice work
Nice one but @14:00 headroom by jibing under the boom? Not acceptable for me
If you look closely you see it is at least 20 cm clearance. but nevertheless, a natural reaction to bow down a bit when tacking
very nice! whats the price?

weird warp stabilizer errors in the footage. Would still take the boat .

Better buy a second hand boat and start sailing while you are still young.
Exactly what Solo Roy said! And this boat will be sold used in 15 to 20 years and then till be wat cheaper
If you do that for twenty years, you'll have enough to buy a 20 year old one! 😉
nice video

filma gärna det ni pratar om, tex ankarwinchen, istället för den som pratar. Honom hör man ju...

A coastal cruiser... Not sure that's the best wording to sell this boat.
Agree. I was surprised by this comment. Hallberg-Rassy was always regarded as a blue water cruiser.
Thank you for your feedback, perhaps “a blue water cruiser that works very well for costal sailing” should be a better description...
