I'm from Scandinavia where ferrets are common. They have an animal park close to where I live with native species including ferrets, the idea is to show them in their natural habitat. In their ferret enclosure they have a pond for them to swim, as ferrets naturally hunt in and around water for amphibians, water voles, mice etc.. It seems like a great enrichment for them as swimming requires them to use their hole body. The pond they have is designed with a shallow end and deep end so it is possible for them to dive as well. Of course that is the most natural way for them to drink and cool off in a hot summer as well. Not sure if they have filtration to keep it clean but I'm sure a little pool pump to keep it flowing and not going stale is optimal, or replacing it sometimes is probably advisable. Anyway that is just an idea I thought was worth incorporating, else your plans for the ferret park seems fairly simular to the one I have seen, nice hollow tree trunks to play in, some stone mounts to run through, a vertical trunk/tree to climb up on and I think they could not ask for more.
Idk if anyone has already suggested fox yard designs for your fencing needs. The way the bottoms are constructed would be perfect for ferrets. I think Save a Fox has a video on how they made their enclosures. They also have a cool pond with tunnels that could be of some inspiration.
Totally can related to your project but with our cats. Love your vision, use of natural elements, space for you, and then the hollowed-out logs, WOW! Thank you for sharing this project and your love for the sweet ferret family. 👏👏
I used corrugated pvc panels to block potential entry behind my washer and dryer, water heater, ECT. They should work well for blocking off entries in your backyard. I cut the panels where the corragate is vertical.
I love that you're expecting the furballs to climb those cinder blocks.. but you're just hoping to slow them down enough for you to catch them before they escape.
For the top of fencing, use tubes placed over the top.. This will safely stop ferrets from climbing over the top as they won’t be able to get a firm grip to climb over the tube..
It's almost gonna be like their Christmas gift!!! You could do something with a water feature (but isn't too deep that they can drown themselves). But idk. Love your work xoxo
one thing ppl do to stop large tortoises and dogs from digging under fences is to hammer down steel bars into the ground.. but given how small ferrets are the gutter guard would work better... its similar to the other option ppl use for other animals. basically a plastic or metal garden liner or concrete that is burried along the perimeter by one or more feet. it takes SO much work to install though.
It's going to look amazing. Ferrets are definitely little Houdini's. I've had ferrets for half my life. They are incredible pets. But if you don't keep up with them it affects them in a very negative way. They go nuts. My one little girl gets out every day for a cpl hours. Her cage is massive.
You should use half inch construction cloth its galvanized and works well, you need to bury it down a ways, just be sure to take off the sharp edges after cuttig to size, you can fasten it to the fence, keep them safe❤
You can dig chicken wire in the ground under the fence, and let it stick out slightly above the ground so you can attach it to your fence, so that when they dig there, they can't get past it through that chicken wire because those holes are too small for a ferret to get through.
I still recommend using a heavy wire to extend down from the fence about 6 inches or so and then out about 12 inches. This would require them to start digging doom more than 6 inches and farther than 12 inches away from the fence. I am not very good at explaining but I hope this makes sense. It is absolutely what I would do and wouldn't worry at all about them getting under.
What I have done In the past is us glass Wall like you would see In aquariums or a couple of pieces of clear plastic doors you can make something that I have used in the past for around the fence you could dig down about two to three feet put up a a plexiglass Wall and then add the bricks In front of the plexiglass
Just as an FYI, Ferrets can break chicken wire. My Ex made me a cage for my ferrets and used chicken wire and they were so set on getting out that the actually broke the chicken wire and escaped. My ferrets are always biting the bars of the cage and bending the bars they actually broke the bar off one of their previous cages, it's an issue I have always faced with my ferrets. And yes they get plenty of time outside the cage, they free roam, but they just cannot stand being in there cage, I mean from the second I put them in they are biting the bars of the cage.
Your ferrets are so well behaved outside. Is it okay for me to take one of my five ferrets outside and just see what happens under close supervision? I’m Afraid to do this. We also have raccoons and dogs in my area I don’t want them to get sick.
Hello! I recently got ferrets and have been thinking of leaving their cage outside since I have a small apartment. I’m mostly worried about them catching fleas, how are you preventing that?
are you or can you show how you did the ferret tube wall? pls im a 1st ferret mom and hes alone. someone before me took his brother and left him behind. i wanna get another ferret soon but i cant at the moment
Ferrets can make great pets for the right person! Just make sure you have enough time to play with them and train them every day (4 hr minimum), as well as enough money to provide for them (around $500 upfront and then $60-100 per month)
Thank you so much you have been a lot of help over the past couple months I’ve watched almost everyone one of your videos i’ve done a ton of research on him and I’ve been saving money and I think I could get one thank you 😊
Hi, I was just wondering about a raw diet for my ferret. I've had ferrets before and they loved meat and eggs, but this one gags if he sniffs it, it's the same it eggs, also tried raw and cooked
I suggest not to put the chicken wire at the bottom. Use wood with the chicken wire above. A child sand pit is great for digging. Don’t forget ferrets are related to otters 🦦 so a shallow pool for paddling is fun. Believe it or not we get sunny days very occasionally in Scotland
Perfect question! (Though I think you just commented on our new cage video already). Here is the link to our new video on which cage we recommend and why: ua-cam.com/video/yUwQsFiv9ow/v-deo.html
@@TheModernFerret not yet but I’m going to get them REALLY soon I have the basics but not a cage I’m probably going to be up all night with it, I’m going to try to put a blanket in a giant drawer I have and let it sleep in there for the first night then get it’s cage
@@shawtysmemes4686 That's not good, your ferret could get hurt in a drawer, Maybe keep it in a carrier, or just let ir free roam in your room for a day.
@@shawtysmemes4686 your ferret can crawl from the drawer to the back on the inside of the dresser and get crushed when you try to open it. Don’t put them in a drawer. Never just get one ferret, you have to get at least two or they will become depressed. They need another companion.

This is going to be ✨✨ AMAZING! Moose, Albert and I forgot the other ferrets name are going to LOVE their new park!✨✨✨
Oh I remembered his name! Newt!
Yeah newt
Newt
R.I.P Newt… Fly high little carpet shark 😢
I went to a wolf sanctuary, and they had the enclosures with wire all the way underneath them, so even when they dig, they can’t get out
Lmao I do that for my chickens and I was just about to suggest it
Okay your digging ferret looks so naturally amazing! I’ll take my ferret outside and then do the warm cloth cleaning!

Your ferrets are the luckiest ferrets in the world!!!!
Look up “coyote rollers” and place those on fence rail to keep stray cats out.
Idk if anyone has already suggested fox yard designs for your fencing needs. The way the bottoms are constructed would be perfect for ferrets. I think Save a Fox has a video on how they made their enclosures. They also have a cool pond with tunnels that could be of some inspiration.
Fellow saveafox fan I see
I can’t wait till you get done with this this is going to be freaking crazy I’ve never seen nothing like this before
This is so cool! When we get ferrets, we should try something like this!

Look up tortoise gardens. Tortoises are huge diggers so their enclosures have a lot of ideas for containment
Brilliant can't wait! Living in the UK outside enclosures are the standard here.
So cool! I hope to visit the UK one day and do a video series on common outdoor enclosures.
For the top of fencing, use tubes placed over the top.. This will safely stop ferrets from climbing over the top as they won’t be able to get a firm grip to climb over the tube..
I can’t wait to see the end result . God bless your creativity

Thanks Emma me too!!!
It's almost gonna be like their Christmas gift!!! You could do something with a water feature (but isn't too deep that they can drown themselves). But idk. Love your work xoxo
Dig some small ditches and put some of those tubes in it, then bury the tubes. That way they have a some simulated burrowing tunnels.
Joseph Carter the mink man has a good outdoor (backyard) set up for his Mink, the way it was done was very interesting
Ok maybe just a bit crazy and expensive but you could make a small stream that the ferrets could not get hurt in and place the half log over the top
AWESOME can I bring my 5 to come play lol . Superglue plexy glass on the chicken wire fence . Mine works GREAT

Enclosed walk way between the trees!

You could also put a water Cascade or something like that to further enrich the ferrets. :)

U have the same beautiful goal as the Mink Man. Good luck!
And I thought my ferrets were spoiled 😂

Plexiglass works well for on the fencing. I use it on baby gates and they can’t climb. Just use zip ties to hold it onto the fence.
Thanks for the tip!!
Hi Aunty! ...and Uncle! Love the videos!
Hey!! Thanks for watching, Sandy!!!
Woah! I love the dedication you are putting into this! Love this channel!! 😽
OHH cute i think the ferrets are going to love it
Can you do a video on what cleaning supplies to use?
That's in the pipeline 😃 It's one its way!
You can dig chicken wire in the ground under the fence, and let it stick out slightly above the ground so you can attach it to your fence, so that when they dig there, they can't get past it through that chicken wire because those holes are too small for a ferret to get through.
You can put some small mesh and then it will be not brackubl and on top you can put a littl peas of wood and some how make it work!?!

I can’t wait to see it! This may be my project for next year!
You can also bury mesh so they can't dig far!
Maybe make a tunnel underground and this will be just like a burrow for the babies

if other animals are able to go through your enclosure, how do you protect against fleas and ticks?
