Sir! I’d like to inform you that Duck Tape worked on our tennis shoes in the 70s! We called it rock n roll tape and used it on our trucks, well basically anything lol! Thanks for the explanation bc duct tape, today, doesn’t stick to jack crap.
Just found you and I like your vids. I’ve been remodeling for 47 years and seen some crazy fixes but the one with painters tape on the propane line takes the cake! Hope to see more, and I hope you’re going to shoot for you tube with full screen video.
taping directly to a supply duct you need mastic backed tape. its not cheap either so i would just use duct seal. but taping insulation I use FSK tape and for flex duct i tape with flexfix tape.
Duck tape was green it was used during the Vietnam war on helicopters blades. The tape was used to covers the bullets holes on the blades because they would whistle real loud when rotating.
In HVAC work, Duct Tape is a BIG no, no! Why? HVAC provides two types of environments: hot and cold. A tape is needed to be able to withstand that, and even though people say that Duct Tape fixes everything, in reality it doesn't. It's actually a fragile (you can tear it off the roll by hand) and doesn't have a strong adhesive bond. Duct Tape is also susceptible to dampness, dust (and lose whatever adhesion it had) and will actually get brittle as time goes on.
You can also use G-tape. It’s the tape they put on the top of deck framing before installing the top. Sticks to anything permanently and comes in 2”,4”, 6”, and 12”.
I helped my dad make many ducts over the summers in the 90s and and aluminum tape and squeegee is all we used unless sealing off round duct to a register/ vent. Then it was regular duct tape and a zip tie.
zip tape is great, i also like the double sided tape for the simple-saver roof system. i have taped back on peeling veneer, taped back on peeling stickers, taped back on trim that fell off of my car.. actual construction grade tape is incredible stuff.
lol points out crappy duct tape and claims “duct tape is generally crap” lol buy better duct tape. I’ve had some that Arnold Schwarzenegger couldn’t pull off lol
It depends on what you're using it for. On ducts, with dramatic temperature swings and very dry air trying to leak from the joints, duck tape eventually dries out and stops being sticky. It might seem strong when you first apply it, but it doesn't last.
I agree with him in general. I always have quality stuff (like gorilla tape) duct tape in the house but it’s best for temporary uses. It tends to just gradually fail over time.
This has always tripped me out. Duck tape Tuck tape & Ducting tape Are all different and dear god if you mess those up please move on with your career. THANK YOU for the zip tape tip!

I thought it was called duck tape because it sounds like a duck quacking when you tear off a piece
👍👍👍👍👍
Wow, I really thought that "duck" tape was a cute riff on "duct tape"!
Same here.
Me too, lol.

Tape should have a UL/181 rating for Duct
Trex tape is good. Duct tape works best when fully wrapped around itself. Zip tape is awesome but very expensive

Actually the best tape in the world is 3M VHB tape. They use it to hold the glass curtain panels on skyscrapers

Zip tape. I've never heard of that. I'll have to check this out.
I bought some gorilla tape, but couldn't find a gorilla in Kentucky to try it out on...
Aluminum Foil Tape for ductwork.

Only use tape listed and labeled UL181A-P or UL181B-FX on duct connections
I’ve been using aluminum foil tape but recently went back to a job and found that had peeled back 🤬. I will try the zip tape. Thank you.

Oh great now that you've given the secret away millions of people are going to be buying up all the zip tape
😂😂😂
Great tip.
Time to duck out.
So I can’t use it on a duck? 😁
Not unless you want to end up on a watch list.

@@artor9175 100% correct. Use Aluminum Foil tape instead. That stuff is permanent.
