Welcome! I am an aspiring polyglot with a degree in Linguistics. I speak English, Spanish, French, and Esperanto, and I'm currently working on Thai. I make videos twice a week to talk about my methods of learning languages and to try to help others make language learning faster, easier, and more fun.

1:41 Why is there no circumflex/ diacritics with your Esperanto on page 8?
You have Gxi malsatas. When it should be Ĝi malsatas.
Does all your Esperanto book(s) use just the x substitute system?

Good question! That was an earlier version of the book. We used the x-system to try to stay within kindle's script guidelines (They list a rather limited number of approved alphabets, Esperanto not being one of them). Then I got some feedback from people who regularly read Esperanto books on kindle devices, and it turns out Esperanto diacritics work just fine, so we decided to go with that instead. Thanks for the question!

What do you think about Dr. Jeff McQuillan's advice? Doesn't it interfere with the holistic approach to learning languages? Do you think that once you achieved a comfortable level that allows you to read lots of materials without any major problems (I guess it's around b1-b2 level) you should just focus on doing as much reading as possible?

The situation in his quote is not about general language learning. It’s actually quite specific, so his advice is not necessarily that reading is the only approach to language learning. He is recommending that specifically for someone who has to take an advanced exam in the near future. I doubt he would give the same advice to an absolute beginner, or recommend that someone only ever use this technique and no others.
