I love your style of videos. Always interesting to watch. Bc u don’t just always sit in front of a camera and talk. Hopefully my husband and I can get a sun conure when we move into our house. 😊
I can't win with my Sun Conure with the hormonal attitude. But it's not the biting attitude, he puffs up in the palm of my hand & starts to rub his butt back & forth, plus shake his head really fast up & down. It's funny & awkward at the same time.
Yes! It’s so bad. Best thing is to discourage and try to distract with something else. Mango has bitten me more times in the last week than this entire year.
Great to see you back 🙂. Hope all is well, and the hormonal birds settle down asap 🤪. Must be driving them nutty, as well as you, poor things. To let you know of my bird toy making experience.. well, I said haven’t got a crafty bone in my body, well still true, not anything close to how your toys looked , mine just looked like,,, well not sure 😂. Anyway, birds didn’t care, and destroyed them like bought ones. So mission accomplished, and a lot less money down on the floor. 👍🏻
Thanks! Lots of personal stuff, fertility meds, life 🤣😭 yes we are all nutty just trying to survive!! And the toys aren’t art LMAO just get them something to keep them busy that’s the end goal. I haven’t shared the shit show toys I made them in the last couple weeks just to get them to be quiet 🤣
@@bestflockingfriends Aaahh, you just take care of yourself!! Wishing you the very best. I’ll leave that bit there. 🙂 I went from toys to pvc playstand, 🙄🤪, just finished it, and looking at it, I’ve put everything towards the back of it, so now the moustache parrot will be too close to the wall, and she is a mad chewer, combination isn’t good 😂. Top it off I used vet wrap to cover EVERYTHING so she wouldn’t slip, might be time to rearrange the furniture. 😂😂 Take care.
Sorry for the delay. Great question! I can make a point to do a video on this soon. Birds are flock animals, and they’ll want to be with you if you’re engaged with them and part of their family. Their cage will be their nest and refuge, which is why it’s important to have a separate space/cage for sleeping vs a cage cover. Try target training (see my other videos or check out BIRDTRICKS) to get them engaging with you through the cage bars. If they’ll come out, engage in tarte training on neutral ground like the counter top or a plain perch with no distractions. If your bird is eating a full seed diet it’s very unlikely much of this will work. A cold pressed pellet and veggie/grain/legume chop is ideal, and will make fatty treats like seeds and nuts appropriate for training! They will engage with you more on a proper diet and want to be with you. Hormones and poor diet will make your bird more aggressive and less likely to be fun to be around.
Is there something about getting rid of cotton things in there cages ? Very curious and never heard any downsides to it with birds before (not a bird owner) lol
Thanks for asking! Yes cotton gets stuck in birds croups and cannot be digested. This happens when they rub their beak on the ropes or chew on ropes and toys with cotton parts, tiny filaments become ingested over time. Because their croup is full they have a hard time eating and it has to be surgically removed or they’ll likely die from it.
@@bestflockingfriends Thankyou so much for replying! I had no clue but now it makes since. And I now have the knowledge of why Thankyou ♥️♥️♥️♥️ very much :)
Oh it’s been BAD here for a few months I’m going to have to make some changes for sure!! Ps he’s had issues with his bird for a while because of the way they handle it. Self inflicted.
@@bestflockingfriends yeah he caused most all of the issue's he's dealing with now! Why is Cookie So hormonal you think? Not enough stimulation? How old is Cookie?
I’ve been really stressed lately and I think it’s feeding into the way my parrots feel, and I’ve had a hard time spending 1-1 time with them and doing constructive training. And, lack of new toys/changing up their environment to keep them interested.
@@bestflockingfriends yeah i understand! You're working like 5 jobs!! LOL. Wife, Mom, Chauffeur, Teacher, trainer....etc. They definitely feed off of your energy/vibe. It's virtually Impossible to keep them 100% happy in captivity so don't beat yourself up. They require SO much attention that if you can't provide enough of it, you're gonna start seeing some undesired behaviours. You try to do right by the animal but life keeps on and things happen.

Oh thanks so much!! I appreciate that and thanks for watching! Excited to hear how it goes getting a sun keep me updated :)
Wow the regurgitation started almost immediately!
Oh yeah it’s awful. Not enough toys, my fault. More on their way.
Thanks for the info!! Just got a 5 month old gcc not nippy just scared of people. Any advice? I’m in Fl too🥵

Poor hormonal cookie!!
It’s so bad 🙈
These parrots can become really big problems when the hormonal stuff starts! Tyler Nolan is having bigtime issues with his bird!
