    I've been making hummus with cauliflower for ages. You don't need to roast the cauliflower. It is fine steamed. If you add the cauliflower and some aquafaba in with your chickpeas and lemon juice and spices and whiz it up for a good 2 minutes it comes out super creamy. My hubby loves it and has no idea it has cauliflower in it. He always asks why my hummus tastes so much better than store bought.

      Hey I have never made hummus at home successfully, would you please share the exact measurements you use? I add half a bag of cauliflower rice to 1/2 cup oats for my microwave porridge, you can’t taste it and it adds nutrients and is more filling, always happy for more recipes like this☺️☺️xox

    • @SandraGiffin
      @SandraGiffin 5 місяців тому +8

      @@AsMr-km6ex I make my own chickpeas in the instant pot but you can use canned. I use 2 cups chickpeas, 1 - 2 tbsp lemon juice, 100 g cauliflower, 1/4 cup aquafaba ( cooking liquid from chick peas or liquid from tin) 2 tsp ground cumin, 2 tsp liquid aminos (Braggs) , . It is the recipe for oil free hummus from Forks Over knives but I add cauliflower and substitute the aquafaba for the veggie broth. The aquafaba makes it really creamy. If you don't have liquid aminos you could sub tamari or soy sauce. The liquid aminos acts as the salty element in the recipe. You could also just use salt I suppose.

    Loaded Pizza Fries
    Marinate then bake sliced MUSHROOMS (baby Bella, cremini, white button, or whatever). The Marinade: soy sauce, liquid smoke, garlic salt, onion powder, smoked paprika. Use a lined baking tray/sheet. If you can let it marinade for 5 minutes before baking it's even better)
    Roast BROCCOLI sprinkled with garlic salt on a lined baking sheet/tray.
    POTATOES: Slice raw or pre-steamed potatoes into the shape of fries. Sprinkle with garlic salt, smoked paprika & nooch. Air fry or bake until done.
    HUMMUS: In Blender or Food Processor: a can/tin of CHICKPEAS including the aquafaba, 1 tbsp tahini, roasted cauliflower, lemon juice, salt, ice cubes blend.
    TOMATO Sauce: a can/tin of tomatoes, garlic salt, dried basil & oregano. She heated it a little in her microwave.
    On a plate place the roasted broccoli, potato fries, tomato sauce, hummus (or if you prefer vegan cheese), mushrooms, seitan strips (optional-she received some as a gift), & a raw tomato.

    Talk about maintenance! Yes, please! I’ve been WFPB for quite some time. I lost a total of 15 lbs and got actually too skinny at one point. But over the past 5 years I put on 8 lbs. So here I am looking for inspiration and companionship on my weight loss journey. Thank you! I love having your videos on while I’m working in the kitchen. And their chalk full of great ideas and inspiration. But mostly it’s just helpful to have someone who is trying to eat like I am for the same goals. You give me hope! Thank you for talking abou fruit and calories. Yes, fruit is so amazing but lots of vegan (mostly raw) influencers say "eat as much as you want" and to lose weight, no that's not true. If I ate as many bananas as I wanted, I am sure I would gain weight. Thank you for all the tips!

    • @layladarby1994

    I've got a vegan junk food pusher in the family... it's wild... she has to tell us every shop, cafe, restaurant, pub, etc that has vegan options that's always junk and tells us multiple times just to make sure we have it. She knows we both eating healthy and are avoiding junk. It's so much that I'm understanding that it's toxic. Sad. Anyone else dealing with pushers? (Booze, junk, etc). We don't drink alcohol or so that pushing stopped a decade again.
