Hey guys, the Cavalry rules disallow units from mounting transports. Same for motorbikes. Bicycles on the other hand can mount trucks, but basically your first activation for bicycle infantry needs to be a run on a road to get value from the bikes, so that truck better activate first, get onto a road, then spew out bicyclists everywhere onto that road on their first activation.
For me Trucks and the American Dodges are primarily a mobile MMG platform, I usually have 2 to 4 in each list. Their secondary role is as a transport. As such if they get bunched up they, with the support of 3 or 4 other units, can overload and pin out enemy units by the second, maybe 3rd turn, especially open-topped vehicles (my favourite) Bo reviewed my army lists and didn't realise why I had so many trucks, I forgot to mention it in my email to him, and as a skirmish style player it suits my grind forward and shoot as you go style of play. I rarely use the rush strategy, although I have done it to great effect in several games. Love trucks, and even late war and Germans I don't use armour and have everything soft skins, Fausts and using the FlaK Zwilling 38 (double heavy autocannon) plus a truck with H auto on too. Mixed with small squads, a 36pts Kublewagon Regular, Inexperienced medium mortar and the Regular LMG team for 35pts, I've been winning game after game. Bit sweaty to be fair, but competitively things are working for me. And live my Snap-to for dishing out pins pr getting a few squads put of trouble in one go. Oh, and have the 2 extra guys with the officer ❤
I think the best defensive use I had for a transport was as an Italian against British Armor. I had a Semovente engage head on before my transport brought in the Elefantino to get into a flanking position. I think that was the only time used it.
I love them, and have about 6 or 7, but really struggle to justify paying the points for them half the time. Maybe I should just get on with it with them being on the board....
Unfortunately FB is the place where everything is organized. The main club is Outpost 6030, they play on Tuesday nights in South Perth Community Centre. There's also Perth Miniature Gamers Group on Wednesdays Rhein-Donau Club in Myaree. We frequent Good Games stores, Cannington and Rockingham for events and pickup games. Most of that's organized over FB or discord.
@@WesternTabletop Thanks, I'll be toddling along to Outpost 6030 tomorrow to talk to them. I have joined the Discord server but I don't live on Discord like some of my friends do. Rhein-Donau I know about but it is a far longer trip than South Perth or even Cannington.

Did I say they could!!?!?!? Whoops!! Definitely cannot!!
Good point about either using transports early, to gain ground, or late to counter push

I disagree though on your point about multiple units in one transport agains prep. bombardment
I have no desire to sell my life to Meta so I'm not on Facebook. Where is the best place to go to find Bolt Action games in Perth please?
