Thank you for watching Paul. Correct. Apologies for the mistake. I have already acknowledged this in other comments. Unlike many other watch channels I do not edit out mistakes to appear flawless. I record all my videos the same way; pressing record on my camcorder and talking for circa 20 minutes straight about the piece in one take. Therefore there are a plethora of visual, and verbal mistakes in the 196 videos I have made in the last 20 months. Regards, #WR4K

Thank you for making this video, I'm nornally a vintage guy but after watching this I actually went right out and purchased one (grey market of course) I think your so right, all the little improvements nail everything they didn't get quite right with the previous ref. Everyone was sooo! upset they didn't get a ceramic bezel or green text that they missed it.
Hi John. Glad I’ve just rediscovered your channel..a through review thanks. As you may remember I had the previous model with the polar dial which I found uncomfortable on my wrist and sold it on..now reconsidering this new version. Would like to try it on but finding it impossible to get my hands on one. As you say as a 50th anniversary piece may be worth hanging on to this time round…👍
Thank you for watching John. Yes, I remember your watches. This version feels more balanced with the 22mm lug width and slimmer lugs. Less top-heavy as the weight of the head of the piece is more spread across the wider bracelet. They are very difficult to find at AD's, so really the only option is to pay a premium over retail and buy from a grey dealer like Chronext. Wear your pieces in good health. Regards, #WR4K
It's a great watch no doubt, but Rolex thinks it's worth what they priced for and not what you are selling it at which for you is a SIGNIFICANT profit! I'd rather wait... Also, this is more of a sales video than a critical review of the watch which is always more informative. Thank you for reading! .
Excellent presentation John. I absolutely love the Black Dial. The finishing on the Bezel & bracelet are outstanding. The Rolex Explorer II is an incredible watch. Thank you for posting. Regards,
Excellent review, John. Only a few years back, this used to be a fairly under rated piece for Rolex, not now, though, as proved by the premium on the retail price! It’s just mad how the market has cut everyone but the super rich out. Loved the review, thanks for sharing. Regards
Thank you for watching Mario. Glad you enjoyed it. Agreed, it is now very difficult to purchase pieces from AD's. Thank you for watching. Agreed, a green GMT hand would have fitted with it being the 50th anniversary of the Explorer II. It does look very similar to the previous version. Regards, #WR4K
You need to do more research before making a video like this. Lug width is now 22mm, it was 21 before. The case is unaltered, apart from the increase in lug width which made the lugs slimmer. The clasp is not made by Steel INOX. Steel INOX means stainless steel, from the French inoxydable. The dial has a matte finish, where it was glossy before. That explains the reduced reflectivity. As far as I'm aware there is no anti-reflective coating applied to any Rolex. AR coating has a purple sheen which is easy to identify when looking through the crystal at an oblique angle. Rolex watches don't have a purple sheen. Omega watches do. Also, the orange GMT hand now has a matte finish. On the Polar version all black paint is now matte instead of glossy.
"That explains the reduced reflectivity. As far as I'm aware there is no anti-reflective coating applied to any Rolex." The Daytona has had AR coating since 2007. AR coating is used on post-2020 models including; Oyster Perpetual, Submariner, Submariner Date, Explorer, Explorer II, GMT Master II. "AR coating has a purple sheen which is easy to identify when looking through the crystal at an oblique angle." AR coating can be clear, or blue. This piece has AR coating. Apologies for the error regarding the 22mm lug width. I produced 412 videos in 3 years, a massive body of work. There are a plethora of verbal, and visual mistakes in my videos. Unlike many other watch channels I do not edit out mistakes to appear flawless; I leave them in. "You need to do more research before making a video like this." See my Mondani Rolex book reviews. I did research prior to my Rolex reviews. I also measured, and weighed every piece reviewed. Therefore ironically I knew the lug width was 22mm, but erroneously stated 21mm as it stuck in my mind for some reason. I am aware "acier inox" means stainless steel. Steel is a metal alloy comprised of iron with addition of carbon. A very little quantity of carbon transforms iron in steel. Then, different components are added in modern steels to improve its characteristics depending in the use to be given to steel (cutlery, firearms, automobile industry, indusrial application, etc) Around 1915, and by accidental discovery, atributed to David Breadsley of Sheffield England, a steel variant highly resistant to oxide attack was discovered. Some gun barrels, with experimental contents of other components, was stored in the outside of facilities, and it was discovered that some were little affected by humidity than others. It was investigated the different contents, and then found that those who had more than 14% of chrome, were more resistant. Industrial use of inox steel begun around 1919, after WWI Modern inox steels, have about 14 -17% chrome content. The word "Inox" meaning "non oxide" (no rust) in popular use. No steel is completely rustless, as with enough exposure to elements, or to certain conditions, they get rusted anyway. But some other component additions to alloy better this resistance. Stainless Steel is a better description, though I would say "highly resistant to rust" is better than "inox". Regards, #WR4K
