I left out of this port two times. There is no public transportation over there. I don’t think I’ll ever leave from there again. I it is just at the deserted area, I will still try to stay in Manhattan and leave from there or leave from the Brooklyn terminal.
This port is the closest driving port for us to get to from where we live. Royal doesn't sail out of Brooklyn but we're hoping if and when our son is feeling up to trying different cruise lines, we'll be able to try sailing from NYC.
We are staying at The Hampton at Newark Airport, no shuttle to cruise port... it's this the same hotel....we'll just uber....Friday morning traffic will be a madhouse 🎉
There are two Hampton Inns by the Newark Airport. The newest one we stayed at (Hampton Inn & Suites on International Blvd) did have a shuttle when we last stayed. The other one (Hampton Inn Newark Airport on Rte 1) did not. Whatever works out for your transportation, we hope you have a fantastic trip!
We usually stay at the Hampton Inn & Suites in Elizabeth, NJ. They offer a free shuttle to and from Newark airport and a paid shuttle to the cruise port. We like the location because there’s a mall across the street, plenty of food options, breakfast in the morning, and it’s usually just a 15 min drive to port.
