I'd heard he was kind of a late addition but I always thought he was at least in the series Bible somewhere. Like maybe if they had a proper season 3 there'd be more inklings of his presence but I guess not. It at least has taken the show in a much different direction than I thought it would go so I won't complain too hard.

Secondly, god DAYUM is this a hefty one, but you kept it engaging the whole way through- I had it on while working on something else Owl House related(not a video essay; brain's not been good for writing lately)and when I wasn't stopping my work just to watch the video, I still was able to process everything you said. Yeah Film Freak updating us on this every few days/weeks has built up my anticipation quite a bit, I think more creators should use community posts in a similar way, then they can still have mind share with their viewers while working on a long project where they don't release videos for a while. For example I more or less forget that Hbomberguy exists for the 6+ months or so between his videos, and then when he releases a video it often takes me a while to get around to watching it. This Owl House video I will definitely watch very soon (or even live).

[which feels like a pun thanks to that timing] so it IS a thing in the show, not just in official statements.) 2:59:49 try... releasing a 6 minute teaser.

Also with respect I don't think Eda at her prime would've been able to best Belos glyph magic is inexhaustible energy wise and he knows magic that by The Collector's own words is more powerful than anything else in the Boiling isles.
I have ASD too, and I wasn’t diagnosed until I was 21 years old… I’ve found that the ASD content on Max Derrat’s UA-cam channel has helped me A LOT see if you can get anything from his work that would work for you…
That part about the autism hit me hard, as somebody with similiar autistic symptoms, that is something I can relate with, as a teenager, I often panic and shutdown when my parents do something I know is unfair and makes no sense, but while i'm having a panic attack I can't be honest or talk to them at all.
The "If we keep fighting eachother this nightmare will never end.... I've never had a dream this pretty" absolutely broke me because I had basically the same experience right after we deconstructed the littles' infighting. There was this moment of "oh, I guess I can live life now instead of being trapped in waking nightmares... wow". My favorite part of the series by far. -Erika After trying to put together a video again I'm dying imagining doing a 3hr video. Expecally if you're cutting together footage for it.

How I got into The Owl House was all due to when I first saw the character Vee from UA-cam shorts which had the music Mary on a cross playing in it, the depiction of Vee without the context of the series got me invested in it and made me want to watch it I managed to watch the entire series and Vee ended up being one of my favorite characters because of how underutilized she is like she only appears two episodes of the series excluding the ones she was hinted at in season 1 since you really don't get to see her face and that the shadow just makes her look like a copy of Luz. and one last thing(and I know its a little unrelated) but I think Vee is even more underutilized than the Drones were in the entire Halo franchise which in case you were curious were in a total of 4 games if you don't include Concept art for Halo wars Recon drone or Halo 4s Sniper drone and Drone Queen
The Collector really is just the most character ever, design wise, I love their look so much. Also to me, the idea of Belos physically abusing Hunter is obvious when you look at how Hunter physically flinches whenever Belos makes sudden moves, like he's bracing himself for a hit. Even in 'any sport in a storm' when Darius goes to pat Hunter on the head, Hunter's instinctive reaction is to flinch and *clench his eyes shut* while awaiting the blow he's expecting. And in that same episode Hunter says he's never spoken to a witch the same age as him, really highlighting just how isolated this kid has been his whole life.
I don't really have a great interest in covering Disney Channel as a whole, but there is at least one other show from the later 2010s I've thought of making a video of.

I have a pitch for your series you might like. It involves a witch who can't use magic and instead uses his fists and a revolver to track down magical artifacts from tombs. Sounds like indy right? Here is the twist, he is a repo man. Goblins view purchases as lifetime rentals, so when a wizard dies they return the artifact. Most wizards ignore this, hence why they need repo men to go into the tomb to reclaim their property when a wizard is buried with a goblin trinket. Best part is that it focuses on the marginalized parts of the universe, he works mostly for the goblins and we get to learn more about their culture with goblins that are more than a one note character. Have him work for the liberation of the house elves and most importantly take a muggle under his wing. Why are they important? They are a trans-girl and they are searching for a magical way to transition her painlessly, a good way to spit in that old bigots eye. Am I putting this in a mostly unrelated comments because this Idea has been rattling in my brain for years and I want to tell people? Yes.
personally I really don’t like the first season of the owl house. I don’t think it’s bad by any means but I think it’s more mediocre than anything else. Other than Grom there’s not really any episodes from the first season I have a really real watch. Also the owl houses first episode is one of the worst first episodes I have ever seen in a TV show. Even though I wasn’t that big of a fan of the first season I decided to give the second season a chance and let me just say I love the second season! He does the first season in every possible way and I actually got invested in the story and the characters. I have no doubt season 3 will be able to wrap up the story in a pretty Great way although I honestly doubt it’s going to be better then the amphibia finale because I finally was just incredible😂. Anyway I feel really weird about this show because I don’t like the first season and I like the second. I feel like everyone else just adores the show with every fiber of their being but I really don’t. In my opinion and the mediocre first season drags down the entire series. I knew a lot of people like the first season and that’s perfectly fine. I like amphibia more than owl house because I got invested in Amphibia by the ending of the first episode where I didn’t get invested in owl house until season 2 and also I enjoy every season of Amphibia (even if I do have my problems with season 3) where I only enjoy the second season (and hopefully third) of the owl house
They don't mention it in the show itself, but Lilith's VA recorded a supplementary letter to Hooty for one of Dana's charity streams where she talks about never feeling romantic attraction to anybody so she is canon ace non-aro.
I liked this show, even though I'm 38 and it was definitely not aimed at me. It handled some really intense issues very well though, and it was funny. I also liked the inclusion and how it just came off as natural. It didn't make the mistake of over focusing on it. That's when it can come off as obnoxious and like it's just there so whoever produced it would get more attention and money
Okay so one thing I gotta say about the Eda/Raine plot where Raine has been taking the amnesia drinks, I was just thinking about this during my recent rewatch but I am more convinced to believe that Raine hadn’t been faking the amnesia but had truly forgotten anything between that encounter the breakup, BUT I believe that Raine was still so trusting and in sync with Eda, that they took what she said about something being wrong to heart, and that whatever event Eda had insisted happened, definitely did, so they immediately decided the same day not to drink Terra’s potions without dispelling them first, thus faking the amnesia and the symptoms that arise from it from that point on.
Actually, the point you bring up about Nazis is something we've discussed in a lot of Jewish circles I'm in online (though mostly Jumblr communities). Antisemitic things are usually never labelled as such, no warnings are given for things that could trigger the intergenerational and/or transgenerational trauma many of us have, and for the most part, profiting off of things like Nazis, thinly veiled Nazi allegories, and other such things is seen as completely okay to do (especially without Jewish or Rromani people to at least be sensitivity readers). Just thought that would be interesting to bring up!

You're right, a lot of kids media that does try and showcase LGBTQ+ characters usually show wlw relationships and I'm not entirely sure why. There seems to still be a general bias against gay or mlm relationships in kids media but there have been shows like Kipo or Dead End: Paranormal Park that have more gay leads.

The thing about the Collector is that not even the crew didn't thought he'll be included in the end. The idea of the Collector started in ep 1 when Tiny Nose said something like "we are toys for a higher being", so after the cancelation of season 3 Dana and the crew were like "Well we have nothing else to lose, we might as well put anything we want in the show" so things like The collector, the Lumity kiss and Luz coming out to her mom as we saw in the trailer were post-cancelation bold moves

From my understanding, the collector did kinda come out of nowhere, in that he didn't originally exist before the show got cut short.
I adapted my hearing little by little for the past many years so now I can listen to videos at double speed, so it was only an hour and a half for me

personally I really don’t like the first season of the owl house. I don’t think it’s bad by any means but I think it’s more mediocre than anything else. Other than Grom there’s not really any episodes from the first season I have a really real watch. Also the owl houses first episode is one of the worst first episodes I have ever seen in a TV show. Even though I wasn’t that big of a fan of the first season I decided to give the second season a chance and let me just say I love the second season! He does the first season in every possible way and I actually got invested in the story and the characters. I have no doubt season 3 will be able to wrap up the story in a pretty Great way although I honestly doubt it’s going to be better then the amphibia finale because I finally was just incredible😂. Anyway I feel really weird about this show because I don’t like the first season and I like the second. I feel like everyone else just adores the show with every fiber of their being but I really don’t. In my opinion and the mediocre first season drags down the entire series. I knew a lot of people like the first season and that’s perfectly fine. I like amphibia more than owl house because I got invested in Amphibia by the ending of the first episode where I didn’t get invested in owl house until season 2 and also I enjoy every season of Amphibia (even if I do have my problems with season 3) where I only enjoy the second season (and hopefully third) of the owl house

I liked this show, even though I'm 38 and it was definitely not aimed at me. It handled some really intense issues very well though, and it was funny. I also liked the inclusion and how it just came off as natural. It didn't make the mistake of over focusing on it. That's when it can come off as obnoxious and like it's just there so whoever produced it would get more attention and money
Okay so one thing I gotta say about the Eda/Raine plot where Raine has been taking the amnesia drinks, I was just thinking about this during my recent rewatch but I am more convinced to believe that Raine hadn’t been faking the amnesia but had truly forgotten anything between that encounter the breakup, BUT I believe that Raine was still so trusting and in sync with Eda, that they took what she said about something being wrong to heart, and that whatever event Eda had insisted happened, definitely did, so they immediately decided the same day not to drink Terra’s potions without dispelling them first, thus faking the amnesia and the symptoms that arise from it from that point on.

Actually, the point you bring up about Nazis is something we've discussed in a lot of Jewish circles I'm in online (though mostly Jumblr communities). Antisemitic things are usually never labelled as such, no warnings are given for things that could trigger the intergenerational and/or transgenerational trauma many of us have, and for the most part, profiting off of things like Nazis, thinly veiled Nazi allegories, and other such things is seen as completely okay to do (especially without Jewish or Rromani people to at least be sensitivity readers). Just thought that would be interesting to bring up!

You're right, a lot of kids media that does try and showcase LGBTQ+ characters usually show wlw relationships and I'm not entirely sure why. There seems to still be a general bias against gay or mlm relationships in kids media but there have been shows like Kipo or Dead End: Paranormal Park that have more gay leads.

The thing about the Collector is that not even the crew didn't thought he'll be included in the end. The idea of the Collector started in ep 1 when Tiny Nose said something like "we are toys for a higher being", so after the cancelation of season 3 Dana and the crew were like "Well we have nothing else to lose, we might as well put anything we want in the show" so things like The collector, the Lumity kiss and Luz coming out to her mom as we saw in the trailer were post-cancelation bold moves
I wonder how the season 2 finale and the subsequent plot of season 3 would've played out if they kept the original Script
