I lived in Kirkie from 1974 untill 2003 and I can't remember this at all.was living across the road from your shots of the luggie park so must surely have seen It at the time!fantastic vid
I couldn't get into work for a week!...Bavarian Bakehouse over the bridge at Milton Road, across from the bowling...flour had absorbed all the water...what a mess, then we had to tidy it up.
So many memories... I live in the flat above gilmours in Eastside, then a few years later was in Crossgates, just around the corner, my father had just retired, and on that very day of the flood, he was meant to go to an interview at Campsie View Nursing home, he took it as a good omen haha, he always said he was never destined for that job, pity, the home would have been way better with him at the helm....
The day the Luggie sprang a leak all of 17 years ago now. "A bit of a wet the day" , fantastic understatement. Remember the bus garage , nothing done on that site for all these years. Strathclyde Region boys ou for a bit of excitement.
I remember cleaning the windows of the owner of the bus company that was flooded he told me he was on holiday and he saw his buses under water on the news. Also Mcnairs the builders merchants had just a month before moved premises from across the road in the Old Mill Industrial estate into their present premises and were completely flooded out.
OMG just spotted me at the back looking out on 1st floor at eastside and my father who was the white bearded in waders - could you tell he was an angler - i was 5 months pregnant watcfhing my finance's white nova wrapped around the lamp-post. needless to say it was a write-off

Well done Edward, very good vid. Brings back alot of memories, even seeing the Bus Depot, which is no longer there. Gee.

We stayed in one of the houses you filmed at Kelvinvale. It certainly was a night to remember. Nice video too, it brings back lots of memories.
