- Mannheim is the city in Germany that gave us the car, the bicycle and the tractor. Over 100 years later, it is still a centre of invention and progress. Here I’m walking around in the city centre during the day. The innovative spirit of Mannheim is still active today. By constantly creating new ideas, from new forms of green logistics and e-mobility to advanced solutions in the medical technology and vibrating creative business clusters, Mannheim is concentrating on its unique qualities: economic strength and inspiration. The city centre is made up of blocks, just like Manhattan. Instead of street names, the signs provide a combination of letters and numbers. Inside the so-called ‘Grid-City’, numerous international companies work on inventions that will change the future.

@@martinaasta Mercedes Benz, the first ride with a full working autocar machine, the diesel was founded. Mr Benz had a pharmacie originaly, but he was a founder, monsterbrain... .
it was hims wife wich took the first ride with the car , and she didnt ask him - he wouldnt do the first ride... she just did it- and her frontname was...MERCEDES.....there it is- the best brand in cars u can find in invention and history. hope u like it and it helps u.

I was lucky enough to have been stationed there in 85 to 87. It was and still the most beautiful city I've ever visited. You're so lucky to have your home town. I loved Germany but I feel Mannheim is my German home town. My mother-in-law lives on the other side of the Hauptbahnhof in Lindenhof. I miss Mannheim as much as my home town here in the US.
My city, not born in Mannheim but living there for most of my life. And I agree: In Mannheim weint man zweimal, wenn man kommt und wenn man wieder geht. - In Mannheim you weep twice, when you come and when you must go.

I was stationed in Mannheim-Kaefertal, Sullivan barracks back in the 90s. I used to go to a club downtown, Club Alcazar or as we called it, the Zoo. Love the city, the fussganger zone, the wasserturn and the great public transportation. Mannheim!
I remember the zoo lol. I was stationed at Sullivan Barracks 90-91 Charlie company 202nd Forward Support Battalion
Even the ancient form of Sauerkraut comes from Mannheim! The huge impact this city has on progress and culture is mind blowing!

Ich machte in den 80J. meine Erzieher Ausbildung in Mannem ,habe sie in guter Erinnerung . Besonders gut gefiel es mir im Luisen Park am Sonntag.

I Visited Mannheim, Heidelberg, Stuttgart and Frankfurt last month and I loved Germany. Because I came on business visit, Sadly I was there for only 9 days, but I loved the country.

I was stationed at Turley barracks from 1988-1991 and used to go downtown Mannheim quite frequently. I loved going to the open air market on Saturday and buying fresh fruit.

What a beautiful city, they have fixed it up a bit so that it is somewhat different from the hundreds of cities that had to be rebuilt quickly throughout Germany after the infamous war. As always a very good video, and the city is beautiful, clean and calm. Greetings from the south of the world

I grew up near Mannheim. I know the city going back to the 1970s. A lot has changed. Luisenpark, the big department stores in the city center. But it is still one of the most beautiful larger cities in Germany. I now live and work in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Thank you for bringing back some long-forgotten memories. You have a new subscriber.

@@on40cryptonaut20 lol yeah, got 160 nations or so living here - and we are top 5 of most crimes happening everyday (also high crime rate 's across the river Rhein, at Ludwigshafen) - pretty rashly recommending a crazy city, where you should have an eye on whats / who's around ya, in some areas esp. or don't be out for walks alone at night, as a girl, for example ... ^^ but on the other hand - dont be scared. have fun.

That’s true but I haven’t found many cities in Germany where it’s not like that. Therefore I need to view cities in Germany from a different perspective. If I want to have very clean cities like Germany in the 80s I need to film in Singapore, Japan or South Korea where it’s still super clean everywhere. Even in 2021/2022! And there are no public trash bins in Japan… people just don’t throw things away.
@@JapanPotato It depends on the city, the size and the quarter. Hamburg inner city for example is extremly polished. Outer quarters can unfortunately differ...

If you like the night life and shopping you should check out the three main roads in the city centre and Jungbusch and Little Istanbul if you like the turkish kitchen. For being in the nature you can walk along the banks of Rhein river and Neckar river or visit the Luisenpark. And if you really wanna feel the vibe go to a football match of the SV Waldhof Mannheim ;) There are interesting and interactive museums too like the Technoseum or the Reiss-Engelhon-Museum

Mannheim, war vor 300 Jahren die Metropole der Kurpfalz und gehörte damals zu Bayern, Haus Wittelsbach ! Zu dieser Zeit war Berlin nur ein Dorf und war bedeutender als München.

Ich bin Mannheimer mit spanischer Familie. Ich ging in Mannheim zur Schule, machte eine Lehre, später noch Abitur und Studium und arbeitete viele Jahre in meiner Stadt. Ich war im Chor und in den Tanzschulen Stündenbeck und Lamadé lernten wir tanzen. Ich liebte die Imbißbuden (mir scharfem S) und die vielen schönen Studentenkneipen. An Fastnacht tanzte ich mit fremden Menschen auf der Straße. Wer kennt noch "Le Jardin und den Wiener Wald" oder "die Zentrale und den Unikeller"? Es war schön in moim Monnem! In den 90er Jahren ging ich nach Spanien und arbeitete dort lange Zeit. Wenn ich mit meinen Freunden telefonierte und wir Kurpfälzisch babbelten, ergriff mich eine tiefe Sehnsucht. Seit ein paar Jahren lebe ich in der Pfalz. Mein Mannheim erkenne ich nicht mehr wieder. Mittlerweile eine islamisierte Stadt. Selbst in Marokkos Städten sieht es europäischer aus als in Mannheim. Mir gefällt das nicht. Es macht mich traurig. Ich werde wieder nach Spanien gehen. Mein liebes altes Mannheim nur noch in meiner Erinnerung an eine sehr schöne und vor allem unbeschwerte und ungefährliche Zeit in meiner alten Heimat!

Bist sehr oft in Düsseldorf, ich habe München noch nicht gesehen wenn ich übersehen habe, oder was ist mit Frankfurt oder kleinere Städte. In Weinheim bist du gewesen wie ich das gesehen habe, du könntest auch noch einiges der Kreis Bergstraße erkunden, wie Bensheim oder Heppenheim oder was bekannt ist das Felsenmeer im Lautertal/ Odenwald was auch noch zum Kreis Bergstraße gehört.
Von dort komme ich gebürtig her.

Hab mir von dem Film mehr versprochen!! Warum wurde die Fressgasse , Kunststrasse nicht gezeigt? Oder Paradeplatz bis Marktplatz z. B. Auch das Quadrat Q 6 Q 7 , das wirklich schön ist, wurde ausgenommen. Dafür viel zu lange ab kaiserring bis HBF mit Baustellen gezeigt, was nicht ansprechend war und ist! Rosengarten und Kunsthalle waeren m.E. interessant gewesen. Alles ist eine Geschmackssache. Trotz allem ist Mannheim eine schöne lebenswerte Stadt, die leider immer mehr im Dreck erstickt!!!
