- A woman recalls the terrifying moment she was nearly beaten to death by an attacker while walking along the canals of Venice, California. On April 6, the victim, Mary Klein, 54, was walking near her home at around 10:30 p.m. when a man suddenly ambushed her from behind.
“All of a sudden, I just get knocked out,” Mary told KTLA’s Chris Wolfe as she recovered in a hospital bed. “My teeth got knocked out. My jaw is wired shut. He bashed my face in.”
Mary said the brunt force of the attack knocked her into an instant daze. She only remembers falling to the ground and being bludgeoned as the suspect repeatedly punched her in the face and head.

I just saw last night a man was finally arrested for sucker punching a NINE YEAR OLD LITTLE GIRL and sending her to hospital feeling sick, dizzy and in pain, she was literally standing next to her Mother in the food court at Grand Central Station in NY and he walked up and punched her in the head, poor baby, ff*cking thing is literally a week ago he did the same thing in the same place to a 54yr old woman and busted her in the face breaking her nose, was arrested and immediately cut loose, then he did this to a nine year old....

I'm shocked by her injuries - the neck and chest look horrific. I hope Mary recovers fully and turns to her family and friends for comfort and support.
When you have internal bleeding, it often can travel pretty far under the skin, far from where the actual injury was. I would guess that the black-and-blue color of her chest is from blood from injuries to her jaw and neck.

Reminds me of the Case of Domingo Tapia where he was punched by a usual suspect for absolutely no reason, he went into a comma and never came out of it, he died 7 years later leaving 2 kids and his wife. The perpetrator went to jail 4 years for “assault” not attempted murder, he got out in 2021 and is living life as if nothing happened. These people are allowed to go back to society while their victims are left traumatized or dead. Where is the justice????? I’m so tired of these stories

Infuriating! “Soft on crime” is an understatement in this country now. This is exactly why crimes are so much worse and more often.
I think it has more to do with increasingly disproportionate wealth, social division, and the American predatory attitude here and abroad. Most wealthy countries are even more lenient than we are. We are the prison capital of the world. That said, we can't just let criminals go loose like this. We are failing in all directions.

This is my home state;
I remember when it was clean, low crime, and produced fruit for America and the world.
The Governor maintained the budget and border safety laws were followed/enforced.
I grew up in LA County - we didn't lock our doors until the Manson murders in 1969.
We knew our neighbors near and far..... rode our bicycles far without fear.
We knew the basic safety stuff: don't get into a stranger's car, etc., etc. We hiked the hills overlooking Glendale, enjoying the outdoors.
The roads, freeways, and highways were in good shape, without trash everywhere.
As a teen I drove with my girlfriends to Downtown LA to shop --- no worries.
The current conditions are not a legacy we should leave for our grandchildren!
The state I love resembles a Third World Country now.
This is not what we pay 7½% tax for.
How much more mismanagement will we endure before we push back and demand accountability from our elected representatives, who clearly aren't concerned.
Our government works for us --- we pay their wages.
Isn't it time we demanded a return to the Rule of Law?
