You should definitely get an endoscopic camera off of Amazon to see how hollow guitars look and or are built from the inside. They’re about $60 and it would be cool to see in my opinion.
I love that bass, its essentially a jazz bass version of my 60th anniversary precision bass from 2011, if I was still playing bass it would be the perfect back up for it.
That shell pick guitar is great. A Strat with an easy S-Switch setting with just one master tone. It’s simple but even more versatile than the standard Strat wiring.
The Bass VI also had three pickups with three on/off switches... the first model year (and the pickups looked more like Strat pickups) The next year they added a 4th switch for a high pass filter, like the Jaguar (and the pickups were more like a Jaguar complete with the “claw”).
They did reach out to him to see if he wanted help getting hard to find stuff, I think he talked about that in either the Lucas Nelson signature, or the Brian Ray signature unboxing/review videos.
Samuel Cable yeah it’d be like a collectors guitar like I said with some cool specs picked out by him, he doesn’t play live or even all that much so a specifically made for collection guitar would be cool
Soilent Green Austin trashes Gibson’s craftsmanship all the time. He may get early access to deals occasionally but he’s definitely not on the payroll.
@Robert Wilson - I agree, it looks so much better pickguard-less. Just as well there aren't any extra routes for the pick-up's cables, which many JazzBasses usually have. Love the stacked controls, too! And I don't mind that colour; I once had a Hamer 'Blitz' bass (Explorer-shaped, MIA in the early 80's) I'd almost refinished in 'Scania Grey', had the toss of a coin not decided for a dark metallic burgundy 😀
Thanks for the coverage of these instruments! It is great to see them reviewed here. I was most excited to see the '54 Jazz bass and ultimately the most disappointed in this model during the review. So much potential! Shocking to see the debris from the thinline. Definitely a quality improvement opportunity.
I put a set of Gotoh SD-91 staggered height tuners on my Cabronita Thinline Tele. It was a huge improvement over the junk stock tuners that had loose knibs abd wouldnt stay in tune. I also upgraded the bridge to a Gotoh 101. Nice improvement and better quality. These are nice guitars to hotrod and enjoy.
Yeah, you'd like the Toronado. It's a pretty satisfying play. The only thing I don't like so much is that the bridge pickup has a little too much 'pepper'. I'll lower the pickup a hair to take some of the snarl out of it
Can't wait to see a video on that new Troublemaker Tele Deluxe. Totally seems like Trogly's style too - a Fender designed after a Gibson Les Paul Black Beauty. Really interested in picking up one of those things up for myself
Those stock pick up sounds nice and chunky compared to regular jazz master pick ups! I’ve always loved the jazz master clarity, but they always lacked some balls to em. Those hotter pick ups give it that girth that helps balance the jazz master tone better to my ear. The driven tones were rocking as well! Keep up the good content, Trogly!
Hey there: It's me again - way back in 2005 when my The Paul was stolen I made it leap into Fender. I replaced The Paul with a Fender Cyclone. In 2005 they didn't make them with the color I wanted. Now a little back story on why I chose the cyclone. I was very p ed off about The Paul. I wanted to express that with my new guitar. The word cyclone says to me anger. The colors black and red to me are anger colors. My local Fender dealer contacted Fender to see if I could get it costume made. They said no but that they had some of the 2003 model in black with the black & red imitation tortoise shell pick guard. Ordered it with hard shell case. Total cost in California $699.95. It is one of the best guitar's I have owned. 4 Gibson's and 1 Fender. By the way I haven't found any other Fender that plays and sounds as good as my CYCLONE. Peace
I'll just add that the Thineline Tele is not only Hollow on one side but goes down around the bridge to the control side. It's nuts. I've been trying to figure the best way to shield it and I think it's gonna be tough lol
I bought a Squire Cabronita in Fiesta Red on New Years' Eve day from Sweetwater. It's getting delivered on Tues Jan 5th. That's pretty good delivery service considering the long holiday weekend and friggen Covid. But I've always had good experiences w/ Sweetwater. :-)
These are pretty cool. The bass also has the scratchplate design of a vintage Fender Telecaster bass, which is interesting, but not as appealing aesthetically as the standard Fender bass design. Just the opposite is that Tele, which is a design upgrade, as far as I'm concerned. I really appreciate the design concepts that went into the Cyclone. But maybe the Mustang body shape taints (yeah, I said "taint") my brain into thinking that the Cyclone sounds "cheap." I don't know, it could be just a psychological thing.
19:10 literally the best of that guitar, and he hates it? Its the 5 sounds of a strat, all pickups AND you Can use em as kill switch when on 1 p.u. configuration 😍 (an actual kill switch and maybe parallel wiring is the only things i would add)
I'm tellin you man you should get one of those scope cameras to go inside the chambers and routes of these guitars. It'd be really cool to see them from the inside. They're like $10 on Amazon
3:59 that’s funny because my dad is the manager of a music store and basically we had two of the offset squier teles both get damaged in shipping (they were double boxed and packed properly)
You really should try out a vintage B.C. Rich, the brand has real quality back in the day. They have some crazy styles and innovations for guitars of the day. I'd try out a 10 string Bich, an Eagle, or a Mocking bird from the late 70s if possible. Love the channel, and you have opened my eyes to the real heritage of Gibson, so I hope to do the same for classic B.C. Rich for you sir.
i can proudly vouch for the paranormal jazz bass, it is the best squier bass i have ever played in my life, and i got mine from Melody Music Shop too in butterscotch blonde and they even added the bridge ashtray cover for it and wow it gives off MAJOR 1954 P bass vibes, and it sounds amazing, basically what i do is i knock the tone off the neck pickup and have the bridge tone all the way up, so i can get a warm vintage sound from the neck pickup and get a punchy growl from the bridge pickup, and i have D'Addario halfwounds on it, amazing craftmanship and it is definitely worth the $399!
That tele neck guitar was very classy tones! The cyclone was the most pretty! The bass was a bit of a boring paint option but not a real deal breaker it sounded good though
The ones in the baritone are P90 style but the ones in the thinline are to quote the Fender site “ Fender-Designed Alnico single-coil jazzmaster pickups”
You should really pick up a couple of new Charvel brand guitars and review them. Even their made in Mexico stuff is fantastic. I own a 2018, quilted maple trans purple burst, San Dimas model 1, 6 Pack O Sound as they call it. It's a beast. Multiple voices, just an all-around amazing guitar. and while they are technically a Fender product, Fenders they ain't.
Very disappointed that you ignored the Super Sonic. Definitely the strangest of the bunch. The pickups are awesome. Was hoping to get your take, but then again you don't seem like an offset type person.
Joey D Sorry; there’s literally zero information about a Fender Toronado from the 70s or 80s anywhere online. If you have something, do share! Otherwise, I’m gonna say you’re mistaken on the model.
Got the thin line today. And straight out the box it’s amazing. Love it to bits. Shame they don’t paint the headstock on the LPB colour cos I’m slightly tempted to switch it for the ice blue one, but the maple kneck plays so well that I’m hesitant to go for rosewood
Oh man I can't believe you didn't order the toroando too that one seems like the real winner string thru hard tail with chrome covered humbuckers short scale I gotta see you review one of those one day keep those toronados on the radar
My wife surprised me with a Paranormal Cabronita Thinline as a gift. I was excited but after playing it for a short while I noticed that it didn't have the Jazzmaster tones. That Tele Thinline has P90 Pickups under Jazzmaster covers as evident by the dual bar magnets under the coil bobbin. Actual Jazzmaster Pickups would utilize individual pole piece magnets. Many prefer the P90 style Pickups Squier uses in these Thinline guitars as they have a little more punch/output as compared to traditional Jazzmaster Pickups.
