Connect EV3 Sensors to Robot Inventor! EV3 Adapter

- LEGO Mindstorms Robot Inventor 51515 compatibility has improved drastically! With the Qikeasy EV3 Spike Prime adapter, you can use any EV3 sensor or motor to the robot inventor, spike, or powered up hubs. You can also use an NXT motor with the new mindstorms robot inventor system! This is absolutely incredible, since you can now use all of your old motors and sensors together with the lego mindstorms robot inventor 51515 set! On top of that, because the EV3 sensors are compatible with the powered up system, you can finally bring back the ability to control the technic sets with a power functions physical controller! One of the biggest drawbacks of the 51515 set was the incompatibility between the old and new systems. Now, that problem is completely solved! Also, permanently attached cables are a problem in many cases, especially in classroom environments, where cables often break. Instead of having to replace the whole sensor, now you can easily just replace the NXT/EV3 cable! Now the debate of lego mindstorms robot inventor vs ev3 can be a little less troublesome, since you can just use both!

Can I take this for a sound sensor too?
I don't have a use in mind yet, but I am always a fan of interoperability with Lego devices. I'll pick some up for future use 👍. Thanks for the video!
I’m not into lego robotics and I don’t understand how to use these sensors 😁 but i really appreciate your informative video.. Thank you so much ❤️❤️
I recommend trying LEGO robotics it’s such a great expansion of the powered up system!
@@Unbrickme ok i will buy the new mind-storms set and see what i can do with it 😍
@@Bricks.Master.Builders awesome! Make sure to build my robot that’s in the official mindstorms app too! He’s called Neptunian
@@Unbrickme ok i will build it ❤️
Hey dude. I have gotten into Lego Technic about a year ago and since the beginning found your videos awesome and watched almost every one of them. I wonder if you can someday do a video on the 42082 Rough Terrain Crane because I might want to buy it used if it's really that great, but there's no really good videos on it. Would love to hear your opinion! Thanks for being awesome!
I bought the Robot Inventor set from lego, and was disappointed it didn't have a touch sensor. So I bought a EV3 set and realized I can't use them together. But this fixes it, I think I need at least two of these converters.
It’s a shame that Lego decided not to make an official adapter earlier on.
Agreed
I Will decently be getting one of these to use with transformation vehicle along side with pybricks to flip the control inputs for when it’s upside down
Excellent
Hey, is it possible to use the adapter to connect to the EV3 hub? For example, I wanted to put the spike prime sensor on the ev3
personally i feel like the ev3 is better, but the spike prime is also a fun set :)
love the content
NXT is the best!
Nice!
Will u maby revew pick a brick from lego its pretty cheep if u want usefull parts from expensive sets
I love this video
Thanks bro
Can the adapter be utilized to use Powered Up sensors with an EV3 Intelligent Brick?
No
Thanks for the reply. Cool technology, I like what the 3rd party companies are doing with LEGO components. The reason I ask is that I have two sensors and two motors from Powered Up, but no hub. This adapter is cheaper than a hub atm.
Hi, really usefull, thanks, did you know lego mindstorms 51515 and separate components are retiring at the end of 2022, and the app, at the end of 2024? So sad, I actually own 51515, is so sad!!!☹️
NOOOO
I know, its too sad, this lego theme will live on our memory forever!!!
Does the PF train remote work with the EV3 or sensor? Thanks!
Yes, and with an NXT HiTechnic IR receiver
So cool!
I’m so glad you like it
why do you like the nxt as the best
he didnt say that NXT itself was the best, he said the NXT era was the best, that means the stuff that was done around NXT (3rd party stuff, books, competitions, etc)
what happens if you connect it to lego wedo 2.0 instead of spike prime
It will probably still work, since it definitely works with the powered up hubs
@@Unbrickme thanks

the robot inventor set is out of stock, why?
It’s really popular
Gosh dang! That’s a big step!
I love
POV: this is a robot inventor hub
Which is identical to the spike prime system, it’s just recolored
The hardware for Robot Inventor Hub and Spike Prime Hub are exactly the same. Only firmware is slightly different. And indeed, you can connect the Robot Inventor Hub to the Spike Prime application, which will automatically flash the SP firmware onto the RI hub.
