      Squall183 thank you! Most puppies that get it, heal from it. My vet said on a level of 1-10 severity she was only at 2. She could barely hear it during our appointment, almost had to bring in a another vet to confirm haha I’m just grateful my pupper is super happy now 😊

    This is just to warn everyone thinking about getting a Shiba as their first dog as of now, Shiba’s are definitely not a great first time dog. But if you do end up getting one of these adorable puppers please research A LOT before getting it.
    Shiba’s take a lot of time and dedication in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
    If you are thinking of getting a puppy for the first time, try finding a different dog breed that is more suitable for a first time dog owner.
    I know you can’t resist Shiba inu’s though lol.

      Can't agree with that more! ChaSiu was definitely very tough to train, so I wouldn't recommend Shibas for first-time owners (even though I was), but if you put in the time to train & discipline her/him, they make an amazing companion ☺️ ChaSiu's 5 now, she still likes to push her boundaries, but I love her more than anything in the world 🥰

      jasajava Join these Shiba Inu puppies group on facebook, both groups have the same name "Shiba Inu puppies" and "Shiba Inu Puppies". The lowercase one has breeders commenting in posts bc facebook doesn't allow any posts to include things like "puppy for sale" etc. so it's slightly hidden due to facebook rules. There's a handful of breeders in California, but I've seen many recommend "Pete Shiba" on Facebook. I last spoke with them earlier today, snd he has one red female left. Just do your research on how to make sure the breeder isn't scamming you and all that. I'm getting a puppy from another breeder that I found on there soon. It's hard to find breeders bc they have to be selective so they don't need to publicly advertise that they've got puppies, or else they can't keep up with the demand. Anyway, I hope this helps

    ALWAYS find a breeder that shows their dogs, does health testing, has a health guarantee, and will take the puppy back if any issues arise. Sometimes puppies don't get along with other pets in the house, or sometimes people lose their jobs and don't have money to care for their dogs, a good ethical breeder will ALWAYS take a puppy back and care for them no matter what. Make sure they don't breed dams that are over 5 years old, and make sure they only have 2 litters, then they retire. Make sure they only have 2-3 litters each year! It's also good to find a breeder that raises the puppies in their home, socializes them, takes them to the vet for a health certificate before they go home, and gets their first round of dewormers and vaccines. Make sure they are registered too! If they make you sign a contract that you will spay/neuter them and not breed them, that's another great sign.

      I live in Ontario, so I went on the Canadian shiba inu breeder site & found a breeder in my province ☺️ I went to visit the breeder's property first, checked out the puppies & mom's living conditions prior to getting ChaSiu. After a week of consideration, I decided on her & made a second trip to take her home ☺️
      I definitely suggest visiting the breeders property first, look into their living conditions, ask A LOT of questions and do proper research on the breeder & reviews ☺️

    • @heyyyitschey5925
      @heyyyitschey5925  2 роки тому

      Apparently a lot of puppies have heart murmurs when they're young, it's called an innocent murmur & typically disappears after 6months- 1 yr, which is what happened to ChaSiu ☺️
      Shiba's are really tricky, they're definitely more independent than most breeds, but with the proper socialization, they're great around other dogs! My bf has a Korean rescue and ChaSiu gets along with her just fine ☺️

      I noticed that an easy way to differentiate between a good and bad breeder is how much they care about giving their puppies away. Those who do it only for money won't be very regarding or asking few questions. While other breeders I contacted where kinda judgemental of who they're speaking to, because they care and want the best for them so it equals a good health, socialisation in a puppy.

    • @heyyyitschey5925
      @heyyyitschey5925  2 роки тому

      Hi hi ☺️
      Totally see what you're saying & I definitely did my research when picking ChaSiu. I actually visited the property the week prior to bringing ChaSiu home to "check them out" & their environment was so lovely! ChaSius mom was also sooooo loving too, I wanted to take her home haha
      Thinking back, I think the unfortunate result was due to several reasons.
      1. As a first time dog owner, I was super nervous and freaked out when she came home coughing. Honestly it wasn't anything life threatening, but I was so anxious, I would message the breeder multiple times a day with vids and pictures. I think he for sure felt overwhelmed.
      2. The contract did say they will cover any medical fees for the initial first vet visit & if in any world I do not want her, I can always bring her back.
      At the first visit, my vet diagnosed her with kennel cough and just gave her basic meds. The bill was approx $200-300, and the breeder reimbursed me 100%. However, after 2 weeks of treatment, the symptoms didn't get better and that's when we went in and did some more diagnostic tests. Those vet bills ended up being over $1k & that's when I was shocked and went to the breeder because I wanted answers and reimbursement for that. It was out of the contract's deadlines, so technically he didn't need to pay me back, but at the same time, the condition didn't develop under my care, my vet just did not go with the thorough diagnostic tests at the initial visit
      Anyway hope this explains it 😊 but yes, in future, im definitely making sure my vet checks every single little thing at the first visit 😅

    • @heyyyitschey5925
      @heyyyitschey5925  4 роки тому +6

      Most people say that since Shiba Inu’s are known for their stubborn and cat-like behaviour. But if you are persistent with training and very patient, they make great dogs! For example, ChaSiu knows that she has to wait on the front carpet every time we come home from walks (I wipe her down), but she will still try to run away after I remove her harness. So everyday I still have to tell her no and come back. It’s like she knows she’s not supposed to do that, but she’s going to try and push your buttons anyway... sometimes it gets annoying, but you just have to keep the consistent training. I would say if you want an easy train-able dog, shibas might drive you nuts, but if you’re willing to put in the effort and keep the consistency, they make great dogs!

      @@highdancereef hi there, thanks for you input! ☺️
      A little update as it's been 5 years now: looking back, ChaSiu had what vets call an "innocent heart murmur" which is actually pretty common in a lot of puppies. These murmurs usually disappear after 6months of age. As for giardiasis- these parasites are literally everywhere. She could have contracted it form drinking dirty water while she was running around on the farm. As for her cough, she ended up getting pneumonia because she was being treated for kennel cough, when it wasn't kennel cough so the symptoms got worse after 2 weeks of not getting the right treatment 😭
      Anyway, all I'm saying is, I created this video 5 years ago when I got her & was speaking in a very emotional view, but your concern is definitely right because I do urge everyone to do their own thorough research 😊

    • @heyyyitschey5925
      @heyyyitschey5925  2 роки тому

      For sure, my breeder asked me a lot of questions - like what type of housing I live in, what my job was (I was a student at the time), how much attention I could give the dog, was there anyone else that was going to raise her with me etc.
      I think it's a very good thing as that means they want to make sure the dog is in good hands ☺️ I wouldn't be too nervous, just provide your honest answer & if the breeder seems to be judgemental, I would take their critiques into consideration as they are more knowledgeable about dogs & this specific breed. Maybe they see future challenges that you or the puppy might face due to certain circumstances.
      All the best! ❤
