  • On today's show we're unboxing , assembling and doing the radio set up on the E-flite Turbo Timber Evolution 1.5M BND rc airplane .
    It's a HUGE plane , but not as big as E-Flite says it is on the box . LOL
    This is one of the best " Timber Style " planes on the market .
    Maiden flight video is on the way .
    Thanks for watching .

      Thanks for watching . Good idea to get some practice in . They are great planes and fly very well and similar to their little brothers . One of my newest videos is just landing practice with this plane if you want to see more on how it handles.

    I just bought a Timber
    Been flying for 45 years
    I fly a little slower now though. Looks like a Vox in the corner 😊

      I fly slower now too Carl . Took me a while to figure out what I liked as well . Jets are cool but the short flight times aren't . Im leaning towards more scale type flying at present .

    I'm amazed at how many models there are to choose from, must be hard picking just one. Another impressive model.

      Tons to choose from . You can even get a RC version of the KittyHawk , the Wright bros first plane . It's addictive too . Hard to have just one . LOL . Thanks Dennis .

      the plane flies very easy. But is very big . Be gentle and slow with the controls. Fly it like a real plane .
      You will do Fine.

    Hi, nice video. I was able to bind it pressing the button. On my NX10 I selected the Turbo Timber (radio not nearby so I can't recall what #)....but I haven't been able to get SAFE to kick on using the down/inside sticks and using the Gear switch.

    • @PhilipCockram
      @PhilipCockram  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks for watching . I would try to re bind the plane again in SAFE mode .
      You should always hear and see the surfaces double click through there motions .
      I usually put the bind plug IN , then IMMEDIATELY remove it when I plug the battery in , putting it in SAFE mode . then bind the transmitter . Then do the bottom sticks to activate my switch .
      Try another switch , It could be this plane wants a 3 (three) position switch to activate SAFE and the Gear switch is only a 2 (two ) position .
      I have had a few planes where i have had to do this process twice or more . And I have one that pushing the sticks down and in WON"T let you select a switch . I had to do it manually .
      So what i'm saying is . The system works , but not always , and you might need to repeat some things .
      if you're still having trouble , my sure your NX 10 is updated to the latest version . Go to Spektrum RC .com and make sure you have the correct model loaded as well .
      Hope that helps , Best of luck . Let me know if I can be of more assistance

      @@PhilipCockram I think I didn't hold the BIND button down long enough. I powered it on, held the button down for a few seconds to get it blinking, then turned on the NX10 to bind it. Upon reviewing the instructions again, it looks like that button has to be held down throughout the Bind process. I'll try again when I get home tonight

      @PhilipCockram  2 роки тому

      @@WhereNerdyisCool Yes , I have heard that you have to keep the button on the receiver held down throughout ,
      It's hard to reach in some planes and why i always us the bind plug into the port or extension lead they usually provide on most planes .
      I never use the bind button on the radio either actually . I just go scroll down to the BIND option in the radio menu and do it from there .
      I think that part of some of these problem is that there are 3 ways to do everything , LOL
      I;m sure you'll get it . Best of luck

    Do you have a video on installing the Floats on the TTE ?

    • @PhilipCockram
      @PhilipCockram  11 місяців тому +2

      Sorry no . I've haven't tried them yet I'm sure someone does though . This same float set EFL5261 ...goes on several of their planes . From what i've seen the main brackets are pretty easy , but hooking up the rudders to work takes a few .
      I think its also highly recommended you have reverse thrust programmed in too if your going to put the floats on .
      Again , thats something I haven't used yet , but its a fairly simple process .
      Best of luck .

    How do u install battery tray? Nothing in instructions

    • @PhilipCockram
      @PhilipCockram  Рік тому +1

      Hello . This plane can take a wide variety of batteries , From 3S 2200mAh to 4S 5000mAh.
      I suggest strapping the battery to the middle of the plastic mount , (it does not use or have a removable TRAY )
      Then check your Center of Gravity .
      Move the battery forward or back depending on that .
      Hope that helps .

    Whatever happened to the 1980s when we used to build the kit ourselves put of pre cut balsa….. i kind of don’t like where the hobby has gone…..

    • @PhilipCockram
      @PhilipCockram  Рік тому +1

      They still exist and you can purchase pre built balsa planes as well now.
      Most people evolve into the gas engines when they move up to balsa . Its a much bigger investment in both time and money .
      But electric and foam planes open the market to others who are more interested in just flying and not building and fiddling with fuel engines .
      I think its great we have both and a wide variety of planes to choose from .

    Hi Philip I'm a new subscriber to your channel 😊 I was thinking those attachments at the back which you say suck lol 😆 they might be that way so when you connect the floats on they might have something to do with the rudder hook ups. I'll have to look at mine when I assemble it, I just finished putting the E Flight T28 Trojan 1.1m together! Philip post your conclusion to fixing or replacing the clevis and rod and see if it isn't that way for the floats. Your friend Marty from Canada 🇨🇦 🛩 🛩 ps Philip send me your email address I put my TT Evolution together and I saw what you mean about the clevis hook up to the horn. So I went shopping and I found the solution that I'm going to use on mine as soon as I get them.I'll send you a picture of what I bought I think it's the perfect solution without taking out pushrods and whatever else lol 😆 your friend Marty from Canada 🇨🇦 🛩 🛩

    • @PhilipCockram
      @PhilipCockram  2 роки тому +1

      Hi Marty . Nice to meet you , thanks for watching and for the comment .
      i'm looking forward to seeing your solution , It's fairly easy to adjust them at the servo , but you need the wing off to access it . I put some tape on them for the maiden flight and all went well , But I still want to change them , especially because i will be taking mine apart each time and i don;t think the original link will hold up to repeated use , and it's very easy to lose also because it comes right of when attaching and falls in the grass . LOL
      Best of luck with your Trojan 1,1m , It's A great flying plane too and very fast on 4S .
      It's a pretty tough plane too . My only issue with it was the screw they give you for the front wheel . It's soft and cheap quality and the head stripped very easily . I put in a proper hardened hex head machine screw and solved the problem permanently . My email is nofailuretofire@gmail.com . You can find me on other platforms as well with the same name and icon photo .
      Take care .
