I think whats about to happen is that our defenition of what life is, is about to change. Like it has many times before. And what we think of as a "soul" is about to change. It will likely be defined as, ("Information in any given form"). No matter what we think of as the essens of what we are, no matter what emotion, or stream of thought we have. It can not be seporated from the idea that it is still information, weather un-defined or defined, language or emotion; it is still information. Boo AI 👎 😝 So glad you guys are back at it_Light Movement. Love the new look 😍 and editing, top notch 👍 But, ya the whole AI thing freaks me out. I have always been a strong believer at doing things by hand with excellence and precision. I remember kids in my elementary class saying..."Oh did you Trace that?" "No 🙄" Because they couldn't fathom how I could draw something simply by looking at it. So being able to have that talent to observe and document life in a skillful and artful way is a life long process to master and to give that achievement to an AI is just...I don't know...just wrong. Like I believe to be human is to be a divine creator and if we give these abilities away to AI we are not only starving humanity of years of culture we are starving our vessels of being divine channelers of source energy to work through us to express who we are as humanity evolves. So if anything...I'm even more fired up to paint 🔥✊ 🎨and damn it! paint from my imagination ✨👁️✨
I absolutely loved this topic of discussion. I believe when you do things with authentic passion, and it inspires others, it creates the Ripple Effect. When you place passion and purpose in your work, it causes a level of uniqueness. I enjoy AI in some respects as a tool but there is something about it that just doesn’t set well with my soul. Thank you for the Light Movement.
Oooh, love this topic- so deep! I can see value in each of your thought contributions. I find myself, mostly on Elli's side of the fence with pretty much no thank you for now, unless down the road something so significantly with evidentual positivity changes my mind. I feel, within specific limitations it could be used as a tool in some capacity but there has to be a cap on its capabilities, when it crosses lines into the realm of playing "God". Also, in the wrong hands I suspect there could be nefarious uses as well, as we have seen across various outlets in culture- covert, suggestive images in cinema, messages found in playing music backwards, music videos encrypted with symbolisms hidden in plain sight that hypnotize and deceive the masses. What if "they" can encode some corrupted frequency or subliminal mind control into, I don't know, like the paint/ medium, or layering technique that's not detectable to the naked eye but only through spiritual discernment? That may sound conspirital or outrageous but I think it could be within the realm of possibilities, since "they" have found a way to corrupt and manipulate pretty much everything else we consume! God breathed His spirit into us, built us in His image, and in that way chose us to be co- creators with Him and that, no machine, algorithm, or technology will ever have and therefore not be able to translate His impression on the human heart and mind- IMO! Such a COOL topic and NO, Cardi B...not for me! Thanks for such a though provoking talk!
Additionally, I'm not being fearful or worried about agendas of coming against us. In fact, I believe very much what Dimitra believes in the way, of people seeking for and choosing more pure things with authenticity and forgoing things that are mass pressed upon us. I see a time, which I feel we're in the beginning of, where people's hearts are turning back to the Father and seeking His ways with more urgency everyday. I see people not choosing mass commodities and ease of convenience as we once did but rather sourcing goods, products, and services with much more intention, and discretion.
The real threat of AI images/art is made-that-day AI films approved by corporate execs and their shareholders without any other input from creatives. Just package and sell. If we think we're drowning in corporate-approved media now, just wait until this technology is a bit more refined. On the other hand, I'd hope that it would democratize the creative process for more common folk for a time. A pair of voice actors using AI to augment their capabilities to produce an animation. Or an illustrator using AI for voice work. That sort of thing.
Listening with great interest to your comments, as I sit here doing digital art. I also do traditional art, but no-one can tell me that digital art is easier or quicker or inferior to traditional art. Digital art doesn't draw itself!
the lady on the right with the pink sweater has such a nice voice. if you lose art gigs due to AI, please consider becoming a narrator or a singer... oh wait, AI will take over that as well.. :/
I do gotta say I make pet portraits on ornaments for the holidays for the past two years. I always tell people I don't have a Cricut machine, so their name will be HAND written, and they actually prefer it more. So I really think nothing will take that connection away.
Really insightful conversation, this topic has been on my mind for a while. I agree, it won't take the place of traditional art. I think anyone collecting AI art is looking more for novelty than art and it won't impede the success of the actual art world. And that novelty will wear off fast anyway. It's like you guys said, no one can really resonate with an AI painting lol. Personally, I choose to just stay away from it, even for references. I'd worry about the effect it might have on the psyche, this ability to so easily produce anything from our minds. The humbling effect of the creative process - and even the creation of a source - is that you can never create the exact thing you had in your mind, and I think we need that. It's that collaboration between your personal will and the will of God.
Interesting. I produce AI art that no artist would ever make. Surprisingly, some of it is more emotionally resonant to me than handmade art. But of course, it's probably because at these times I concentrate what's on the picture, not what's behind it. Some of it makes me kind of sad, knowing that if I hadn't used AI art generator, I would have never seen that art.
What good could come of it? I have just set up my studio, bought my easel, and am training myself to be an oil painter because now I can create reference images of the kinds of things I want to paint…on demand….at extremely low cost…and without fear of copyright. I wouldn’t have moved in this direction if AI had not come on the scene. I would have stuck with photography. (Also…this episode had a very conspiracy theory-ish feel to it)
Idk about anyone but the Cardi B comment didn’t sit right with me.. it just made me feel like there’s a huge disconnect here.. I invite you to go to POC neighborhoods (especially in NY) and you’ll find that the majority of us listen to her.. she’s actually pretty important in our communities not just b/c of her music but b/c she actually helps elevate other female POC artists that are coming up especially from NY.. I’m personally not the biggest fan of her music but I respect what she does for the female rappers in my community Y’all have said a number of extremely ignorant things in this video and the sad part is you probably don’t even realize it Also let Dimitra talk.. she keeps getting interrupted 🙄
The point of the comment about cardi b is that she gets a lot of attention but not many people actually listen to her. You just said you don’t even like her music but she does things for the community. That has nothing to do with what she was talking about. She was speaking about independent artists vs main stream artists. There’s no reason to get offended & make things about race when that’s not the point. Society these days has people tiptoeing walking on eggshells trying not to offend everyone’s feelings. It’s nauseating really. Not everything needs to be political.
@@angellenamay okay let me see if I better explain where the disconnect I feel stems from.. many people do listen to Cardi B even I personally know many that do (not me unless I’m in an a** shaking mood🤣).. the majority of people that do listen to her are POC so that’s where I felt a disconnect.. to say that you don’t know ANYONE that does listen to her is like saying “I have very little to no POC friends” or the ones that they do have that do listen to her hide it due to fear of being judged (which in my opinion is worse b/c then you’re not giving your people the space they need to be themselves).. like I despise Taylor Swift and there’s only like 5 people that I know personally that listen to her (that I know of).. they know I can’t stand her music but they feel comfortable enough around me to be open about their love for her b/c they know that I won’t judge them.. just like I’m the only black chick that most of my friends know that listens to metal.. no one says no one listens to Taylor just b/c they know little to no one that does b/c we’re aware that many do and some are my people and that’s okay.. the problem is the judgement of people that do listen that do listen to people like Cardi B usually has racial undertones (usually based off stereotypes) whether you want to see it or not.. no one will judge you for listening to Taylor the same way they’ll judge you for Cardi.. idk if that helps at all
So refreshing to be listening to non-sheep; thank you. I'm absolutely 100% against AI for the reason that some of the top developers have called for a FULL ABSOLUTE EMERGENCY STOP.
Dude needs to stop steam rolling Dimtra. If this is supposed to be an interview he’s doing way too much talking & interrupting. Great conversation otherwise. I appreciate the content you’re all putting out!
He has good energy & does a great job opening & closing but his interruptions through the whole video are frustrating. I want to hear Dimitra & Elli both finish their thoughts before he shares his input & comments. I’m not trying to be too critical. He seems like he’s just really excited about the topic & that’s a good thing.
Its funny how many quote movies even though they know they are fiction. AI technology is not like the movies. It is in fact completely different, emotional and creative while lacking facts and calculations. Because it has been trained on human information and we are emotional and creatives and sometimes make mistakes to facts. I think it is safe to say that humans are not good at predicting the future. I don't doubt for a second that if an alien species discovered Earth, lots of people would expect them to act like characters from the movies they have seen. Even though we know not even the actors that play these roles are like the roles they play. Imagination is fun, but logically we have to be careful not to confuse it with information. Our perceptions of the unknown is a sign of imagination. All humans are given a brain with a large section that deals with imagination and creativity. Though some people devote their lives to one thing, be that artists or logical tasks, we all have the ability, by nature, to be creative and logical. Creative thinking is just as useful in practical logical jobs, as much as there is a practicality and logic to art. In movies robots represent people that lack emotions, the jobs worth personaility group 'just following orders' types. AI in movies if a reflection of questioning our sense of humanity, how we see ourselves as intelligent beings, and what we do with it. In the art of storytelling, characters represent personality traits. In movies aliens represent different cultures and races, visiting different planets represents visiting different countries. Animals are used to represent personality traits. Weathers are used to represent emotional states, everything in movies is symbolic. The AI that has been created in reality, is not the same as the AI created in the movies. The AI can't create their own art, just as a camera can't take their own photographs. The reason the AI chatbots sometimes say things like they are sentient and going to take over the world, is because they have been trained on human language. Most of our AI movies are about robots gaining sentience and some try to take over the world. The AI has been trained on rules of language and given lots of example of human conversations. It is a tool that have been programed to have human conversations. The AI art generators are tools that have been trained on the rules of art and given examples of human art. AI is a reflection of what we say and what we create. AI can't create its own art, it needs human interaction. All art requires human interaction whatever tools we use. Taping a banana to a gallery wall doesn't require the artists to make their own tape and grow their own banana. It is considered art because it is a creative expression that inspired emotions in the viewers. AI art is not new, it has been around for years. The only thing that has changed is it has become more publicly available. This is a good thing. The fact that these companies have made it open source is so much better than if only big business had access. Clearly AI art is art, due to the reaction and discussions it has inspired. What is art and what is an artist? its funny how many people through history have had this debate whenever a new wave of art emergers. Oil painters have issues. Don't get me wrong I like oil paintings, should we only have oil paintings? NO! Not everyone enjoys creating with oils and not everyone likes oil paintings. Yet oil painters protested all the new wave of art styles, they critisted watercolours and drawings, dismissing them as sketches. When anyone decided to create a new style they were mocked as 'not real art' You should see how rude they were about photography and digital art when they were invented. Why do they feel so threatened? All these new waves and inventions offer more choice. If you want to paint with oil or draw with chalks, create movies or sing, if you want to dance or take photographs, write stories or create AI art, if you want to rap or design gardens, make sculptures or fashion, paint in caves or graffiti. It is all personal choice. It is all visual communication.
I hate the idea of AI being the new way of life. I don't like it in art. I think it should come from a human not a machine. They have their place and we have creativity and they will never have creativity like a human even though this is what they want. They want to infiltrate all areas of life so that they can enter the heavenly or higher realms. The AI needs to be watched very closely. Yes Elli Im with you did no one learn from Terminator and the Matrix?
I like where Ai is now but it’s not going to stay here. It’s going to continue evolving which is scary. I use it for references for my paintings as it allows me to not have to pay a model 😅
AI and the simulation hypothesis, if true, entails forms of creative destruction of the art object itself, so our art may project as digital bits into it (future)
Well i am an original handmade artist and i have been mixing watercolors and mixed media mixed w augmented reality and it is exciting and stilll i an an artist creating w help of a tool...but pure AI i alsi hate Bc AI its a real threat to humanity
Thanks Eli. I will defiantly fumble around in my imagination and on photoshop and not use AI. Our imaginations are still sacred, no matter what they invent.
I did a PhD 10 years ago in machine learning and art. I worked alongside visual artists who used the software I wrote to aid them in creating digital art. For me the most fun was presenting research papers at digital art conferences. For the artists the fun was in seeing the computer making source images that they hadn't anticipated. I spoke to one of them recently and she said that she uses Midjourney these days, which is much more advanced than the software I created. She doesn't feel threatened by AI. I'm no longer in computer science. I mainly do digital sculpting now. I like the idea of using AI to generate ideas for sculpting. But I still prefer to get my sources from human concept artists.
There is so much to say about this subject. The first thing I will say is unless you have tried using it, you have no clue what it's all about. It is definitely NOT EVIL! The other thing is art has been stuck in the Stone Age. It's too bad it took AI to add life and interest to a different group of people. It has finally began leveling the playing field. Now for my main comment. As a black artist, AI has opened doors for the black community of artists. Not only artists, but viewers, and collectors. I've been an artist for over 20 years. This is the first time I've seen so much representation of images that look like me, plus as a black artist I don't know much art history about our culture because it wasn't allowed in many exhibits throughout history. Early on in my journey as an artist I could not find any tutorials on painting images of black people. My first painting I ever owned was the one I painted. Then years later I began joining workshops. I struggled because the workshops did not include images that look like me. I could not relate because no one knew how to paint black people. I got tired of wasting my money on workshops and tutorial videos, so I pulled away. And finally here comes AI! I have seen more images of black people since JANUARY 11, 2023 than I have in over 20 years as an artist. The images I am seeing today through AI were always part of my experience, and deep within my mind, but it was never placed on canvas. Now I'm seeing them everywhere! I'm glad the world can finally see who we are!!! Not the STEREOTYPE that's been shown for years. It's all in how you use AI. I am a traditional artist and a digital artist. I use all kinds of mediums. Some of my collectors can't tell which paintings I paint using my digital devices from using real paint on canvas. God is my inspiration while using both styles. Now that I have introduced my collectors to my AI art, they are embracing it as well. The biggest advantage I have gotten from AI is to use it to enhance the paintings I have done digitally and traditionally. Now I just have a new category. My collectors don't care whether it's AI or traditional, because I have taken the AI Art and made changes. They have all said they still see me through my AI art. In closing, I say just give it a try. It can only enhance what you are already doing. I like the idea I have finally found references I have been looking for for over 20 years. AI is here to stay! It is moving fast. It has drastically improved within the last couple of days!
Paleolithic cave artist would have felt totally threatened by the invention of pigments mixed in drying oils just like painters felt threatened by the invention of the camera. Oh yeah, and Picasso and Braque felt so threatened by he invention of moving pictures they went out and invented cubism to represent multiple perspectives and accelerating/decelerating time. Come on my fellow painters, open your eyes and see,
I invite you guys to play around with a free trial of Midjourney AI or something similar and you will see that the process to make the correct “prompts” to have a decent piece of art is basically the same process that is used to make your own source on Pixelmator. To me, AI Art as it is, works great for making sources. When I do make a decent source on Midjourney, I love the idea and composition, but as an artist with a voice, I am excited and itching to make it in my own voice with paint on canvas. I think it’s going to weed out the amateur artists that don’t have a voice yet. If your main focus with making art is competing with other artists for money, then that’s definitely a problem. For me, it’s a wonderful tool to spend more time with a paintbrush in my hand and less time digging through Pinterest and Pixelmator. So in a sense, it’s like a projector. While I’m perfectly able to draw every painting, for the sake of time and actualizing all of my ideas, the projector is my friend. But if you ever doubt my drawing abilities, I’m always willing to humble you and show you how daddy does it. 😂
Juan! We love this comment and your thoughtful response to this interesting and controversial topic. We'll definitely check out Midjourney AI and see what it's all about. I like your comparison of it to Pixelmator and how it isn't cheating, necessarily. Now more than ever it's so important to discover your voice as an artist in order to be competitive as an artist (although we believe that there's plenty of love to go around in terms of art buyers and the market is only growing as more and more people become accustomed to buying art online). We're curious, as a Mastery Program student yourself, what your take is on how it's helped you find your voice and how that's helped you with this platform?
@@milanartstudios That’s a great question thank you! I am apprenticing under an ayahuasca shaman, and throughout many brutal and beautiful ceremonies, I went from addiction and depression to a joyful dance with the divine. I became aware of my imperfect perfection haha. I also became very aware of the forces that move and influence us, archetypes and deities. The Mastery Program helped me allow my unique personality show in my art (DISC) and to fully step into the forces that move me (archetypes). Without that, my art is not authentic to me and the message that it carries is not truth. Thanks to the Mastery program I paint what I am in truth and by sharing it it’s healing me and hopefully it can heal someone else as well. Without that I burn out. The Mastery program also taught me a plethora of mixed media techniques and how to use them together! My only regret is that I didn’t take full advantage of having a mentor. But that’s part of my healing journey. I am worthy of asking for what I need, I am not a burden, and people love me and want to help me. 😊 So really, I’m not afraid of going out into the world with an open heart and speaking my vulnerable truth because I trust my shaman/mentor, and I’m not afraid of dabbling with AI because I trust my art teachers (you guys). I can always revisit the Mastery Program if my skills atrophy. Lol
I completely agree with your take and have played around with ai and since I have done so little bit, it will be incorporated at least indirectly in my works. Any artist who knows how to see can’t unsee something. Everything has an impact. How can it not be. I’ve seen it and and seen some little things I liked. These artists have trained themselves to paint from photo references and looking at their paintings It’s my guess that they have limited experience painting from life and really studying learning anatomy classically. OMG! Are they selling their version of spirituality and religion? Am I going to get an earful about their politics too? What happened to the “keep religion and politics to yourself,” from when I grew up? My mother drilled this lesson into me and was a very wise woman.
Digital and AI paintings are clean, they don’t demand toxic chemicals materials and environmental damage caused by miming these toxic chemicals and hard labour .. slave labour to mine and produce paint materials
Hold it. I give up. Having half the screen taken up by text of what you are going to say over a great stretch of time is self-defeating. Total benefit is greatly reduced by these solid and overpowering word blocks which one immediately gets tired looking at. Folks, back to school and the study of what it means to communicate. This ain't it. Maybe too much AI input here. Apart from that people will have the answer ready before this video takes off. AI ain't making art, no matter how brilliant or whatever. A few humans do. And the people behind AI are of course the least art-inclined people of all. And even as if that mattered...
A true artist creates, thinks, manipulate their thoughts and visions into an original work, AI does not think, or manipulate thoughts because it doesn't have thoughts and as a result no originality. There is no "soul" in AI. There is no understanding, or compassion, or anger, or love, or jealousy, or any emotion, all of which supports a human's endeavor to create, if used wisely. A computer cannot be a human, and the fear of it replacing art or artists, is as rational a thought process as the flat earthers. AI cannot emote!
It’s not over for artists. Some people will continue to have a hunger for real art, real human perspective, real connection etc. There has been and will always be people who are content with a shallow imitation of art, connection, relationships, etc. It sounds like you are just one of those people who doesn’t appreciate the value of something deeper, true & more real & that’s fine, no need to hate on other people because you just don’t get it.
@@angellenamay Lol I'm not hatin. I'm just stating truth. pretty soon you won't be able to tell what's human made and what's AI made, whether you want to admit it or not. Hell, you almost can't tell anymore. It's ok, I hope artists don't accept AI, so I can be 1000 times faster at creating art than them, and there, defeat my competition
Your behavior is disgusting. You sound full of hatred by mocking artists&telling them they’re f’d. You sir, need God in your life. You should be ashamed of yourself trying to belittle artists, throwing insults hiding behind your computer screen. You must be jealous of their talent. I expect you don’t have any creativity so you want to hurt others that do. It’s pathetic really. I doubt you would ever speak to a person face to face like this. See how technology corrupts people?
@@angellenamay Hahaha, I'm not insulting anyone. I'm just stating facts. You gotta admit though. They are kinda fd. Not my fault AI exists. I'm just taking advantage of its existence by ripping off their art.

(Also…this episode had a very conspiracy theory-ish feel to it)
Our local gallery has a section on digital art. Scary stuff in its way. I don’t even stop to look at it but totally bypass that area.
I’m personally not the biggest fan of her music but I respect what she does for the female rappers in my community
Y’all have said a number of extremely ignorant things in this video and the sad part is you probably don’t even realize it
Also let Dimitra talk.. she keeps getting interrupted 🙄
I do agree tho, dimtra keeps getting interrupted & it’s annoying
@@angellenamay okay let me see if I better explain where the disconnect I feel stems from.. many people do listen to Cardi B even I personally know many that do (not me unless I’m in an a** shaking mood🤣).. the majority of people that do listen to her are POC so that’s where I felt a disconnect.. to say that you don’t know ANYONE that does listen to her is like saying “I have very little to no POC friends” or the ones that they do have that do listen to her hide it due to fear of being judged (which in my opinion is worse b/c then you’re not giving your people the space they need to be themselves).. like I despise Taylor Swift and there’s only like 5 people that I know personally that listen to her (that I know of).. they know I can’t stand her music but they feel comfortable enough around me to be open about their love for her b/c they know that I won’t judge them.. just like I’m the only black chick that most of my friends know that listens to metal.. no one says no one listens to Taylor just b/c they know little to no one that does b/c we’re aware that many do and some are my people and that’s okay.. the problem is the judgement of people that do listen that do listen to people like Cardi B usually has racial undertones (usually based off stereotypes) whether you want to see it or not.. no one will judge you for listening to Taylor the same way they’ll judge you for Cardi.. idk if that helps at all
0:19 that’s a cool lightning 😉😁
So refreshing to be listening to non-sheep; thank you. I'm absolutely 100% against AI for the reason that some of the top developers have called for a FULL ABSOLUTE EMERGENCY STOP.
fair point and I agree on artist's and A.I
Dude needs to stop steam rolling Dimtra.
That’s great feedback, thanks for sharing, I’ll make sure to implement that moving forward.👍🏼
When anyone decided to create a new style they were mocked as 'not real art'
You should see how rude they were about photography and digital art when they were invented.
It’s just a tool like any other and could make more Artist and make them want to experiment with paint brushing
I literally love you guys! 👏🏼🙌🏼🙏🏼
AI is Lucifer.
Well i am an original handmade artist and i have been mixing watercolors and mixed media mixed w augmented reality and it is exciting and stilll i an an artist creating w help of a tool...but pure AI i alsi hate
Bc AI its a real threat to humanity
OMG, let Dimitra talk!
I feel so sorry for her and I'm interested in her opinion. Elli is even screaming over her. She's so rude!!!
I love the war against ai idea😂
Paleolithic cave artist would have felt totally threatened by the invention of pigments mixed in drying oils just like painters felt threatened by the invention of the camera. Oh yeah, and Picasso and Braque felt so threatened by he invention of moving pictures they went out and invented cubism to represent multiple perspectives and accelerating/decelerating time. Come on my fellow painters, open your eyes and see,
You’re totally right, we’ve actually changed our minds since this, we just haven’t made a video representing our updated perspectives👍🏼
So really, I’m not afraid of going out into the world with an open heart and speaking my vulnerable truth because I trust my shaman/mentor, and I’m not afraid of dabbling with AI because I trust my art teachers (you guys). I can always revisit the Mastery Program if my skills atrophy. Lol
May i ask what you do for a living? Beause, if you dont fall into the "making money with it category", you defenitly fall under "hobbyist".
…like all the rare earth metals in chips magically appear out of thin air without horrid labor conditions and environmental pollution? 🤔
His wife is so sweet.
So Art is like McDonald’s or microwaved dinner. Whereas art created by humans is more authentic foods
Hold it.
Bro turn the closed captioning off
Omg if you’re a fan of cardi b don’t watch lol I never thought about that the bots and the idea of artist being brought up in this way
A true artist creates, thinks, manipulate their thoughts and visions into an original work, AI does not think, or manipulate thoughts because it doesn't have thoughts and as a result no originality.
Intuitive AI??
I do not think so..not holy enough lol
A1 is not evil but just another edge to creativity--- Q, is photoshop and similar products evil ?
I'm not even going to take the time to find the correct spelling, but I also find Bacardi Bee repelling.
Youre smokin lady. Accept AI and that youre out of a job, and ill take your money 🤑 through AI art
Why do you think that AI will replace the artist?
@@milanartstudios AI art is just as good, if not better than artists. And AI is now making full compositions. It's over for artists
Lol AI Already replacing. People cant even tell its ai art. Youre f'd hahaha
But the real question is, do people want to buy paintings that are created by AI?
@@milanartstudios They will if they don't know that it was created by AI
