Ésta es la conexión más evidente entre el arte de Lola y el impresionismo francés. La artista jerezana le dio su sello personal al Bolero de Ravel, composición inspirada en una danza española y que en su estructura musical se repite una y otra vez. La pieza musical fue compuesta por Maurice Ravel en el año de 1928.
Wow fantastic stage show. Nice to see the 'gentle' side of Flamenco. Can still see the passion of the dance. Lola has strong expression and movements. Once can tell what the story is about even if one can't speak Spanish. Very Seductive Performance.
VeraDonna Thank you for the informations so was it a fusion of sorts Carmen Amaya she brought some kind of big change when she took on the male's movements. I just enjoy hearing and watching I don't know much of the history apart that it's a combination of Moors Indian + other
Yes, Flamenco is a beautiful result of mixtures and influences. Basically it's the fusion of the "escuela bolera de baile" with the gypsy dances from Triana - Seville. Both schools interchanged styles enriching one another and giving origin to what Flamenco is nowadays. Since a big part of Andalucía was under moorish power until the 15th century and the Rom people came from India... it's easy to find some resemblaces between Flamenco, Oriental Dance(s) and Indian Classical Dance(s). I'm thinking particularly about the hands. :-)
VeraDonna I always envied the gypsy romantic life when I was a young girl I told my parents I wanted to become a gypsy when I got older LOL My mother gave me a smack in the mouth, It was the flamenco music and dancing that made me feel mesmerised but alas it was never to be,

El traje que llevan tanto los hombres como las mujeres en la primera escena del baile es el traje regional típico de la Comunidad de Madrid y data de finales del Siglo XVIII. Se le denomina "traje goyesco" en memoria del pintor Francisco de Goya , que retrató muchos tipos populares con esta indumentaria, principalmente en sus cartones para tapices.
En esta actuación lola no me gusta, muy basta en los movimientos para una musica tan fina. Era muy fuerte y muy pesada, mejor con otras músicas. Se ve la diferencia con las demás bailarinas mucho más ligeras y elegantes
+j. von Hettlingen Actually, what tourists are used to see are the very explosive and aggressive flamenco styles, cause is more striking and showy, but, as a flamenco dancer, I can tell you that classic flamenco, as is suppose to be, is very tiny and simple; and you can see the art, the expression and the explosion there. As you said, the dancers are excellent, they did what they were suppose to do. And also, the music it's not flamenco, it's a slow bolero (sorry, I don't know if this is a real expression in english, am not that good with the language) with a little touch of flamenco, Lola Flores flamenco style, wish is a mix of pure style and her own's. I think it's beautiful.

The flamenco dancers are excellent. But the choreography is mediocre. The whole piece looks like a performance for tourists.
