    Excellent video , thanks for explaining , quick question with a ball having to hit a cushion after shot is it the cue ball and or any of your colour set , or must it be the ball (your colour)that is hit first ,

    What is the rule with making a "genuine Attempt" at a shot when you are boxed into an impossible shot?

    If my last ball is in front of black over a pocket can I hit the colour and pot black with my colour following into pocket?

    Just a query around the 3 point break rule, is it finishing position of the balls as what seemd to be stated above? Or do you still get 1 point towards the 3 needed, if a ball zips around the table, crossing into the top half but finishing in the bottom half, near where the balls are racked?

    • @matttyrer9096
      @matttyrer9096 Рік тому

      The object balls need only to travel into the bottom half of the table. It doesn't matter if they travel out again, you still get the point. It's not about where the object balls come to rest.

    Are you 100% certain you cannot play any combination shot on open table eg pot stripe and spot? Other videos suggest you can as long as you pot the ball you struck first as well as the opposite colour (obviously no combo issues if both same group). Please confirm Thanks

      Pretty sure this is allowed as long as the ball you hit first goes in if not table turns over

      I agree with you Col, that bit does not reflect my reading of current international rules either which allows combinations shots in an open table as long as you strike your "nominated" ball (or the object ball you aimed for) first.

      Could that have been world rules ?

      @colwalker3220 In the other "international rules" (i.e the standardized rule set of the World Pool-Billiards Association) when the table is still open it is allowed to call a stripe, but use a combination by first striking a solid. Lee Kendall's rules (used in this video) seem to me to be a mashup of World Rules, Black Ball and WPA rules, which have been around for decades.

      Any combination is ok prior to a legal ball has been potted. But U must nominate which ball to be pocketed into which pocket.

    Well fantastic IF you have a ref on each game..otherwise who decides if you are having a genuine crack at sinking your ball? seems like its been made a lot easier but maybe should have been left alone.

    What if after the break nothing is down and you sink one of each colour after the break?

    • @ggggorg
      @ggggorg 2 роки тому

      The ball which you play on would be yours.
      So if you play on red and you pot the red and a yellow ball, you would still have reds. You don't need to nominate which ball you're playing on, however, if they're very close together, you have to nominate the color which you're playing on.

    • @colwalker3220
      @colwalker3220 Рік тому

      @@ggggorg so as long as you nominate a pocket it doesn't matter which of your group goes in that pocket?

    What is the rule if your opponent fouls and you are unable to place the white ball anywhere on the table in a position to hit your ball colour? Are you still able to nominate their ball to make the pot?

    I thought potting the black on the break was instant win. It is in the rules we play and in ultimate pool.

  • @gordonrobb

    Just found international al 8 ball rules from watching Ultimate Pool Champions League, which say they are using these rules. However, in a couple of the games I’ve watched, potting black off the break is considered a golden break and automatic win. How come?

    • @Pockets_sports
      @Pockets_sports  2 роки тому

      Hi Gordon,
      Golden breaks do not currently apply at the Pockets Pro Series at the moment

    What happens if you break, sink one coloured ball, but no balls cross the middle line?

    • @kmanpilkers
      @kmanpilkers 2 роки тому

      It's 1 point per ball that crosses the middle, 1 point per ball you pot. It's 3 points or more for a legal break so the scenario you described would be a foul break and a re rack.

    What if after a foul you have 2 carry shots and you use the first try to get the lead balls? do you still have two shots or do you lose one?

      But if your opponents ball is covering the pocket and your last ball is touching it you can't play a legal shot without fouling

    • @rudidupreez6612
      @rudidupreez6612 2 роки тому

      @@jammy2858 As long as you make legal contact on your own ball first, and the opponents ball then drops, it will only be a loss of turn, not a foul... But if your opponents ball is covering the pocket and your ball is touching it, why not play the combination shot and pot both in the same pocket... ☺

    Wow! What a crock and a missed opportunity. So now we have rules that are'nt rules but are only a speculation of a third party that thinks he can read a players mind and intent. An imaginary line? please! International yet potting black off break is not consistent to all internationally. Given 99% of Games are without an official umpire, what could possibly go wrong. I think pool has really missed an opportunity here unfortunately.
