Thanks Sam! Great Job with the editing, glad you were able to make it out on the farm.
I wanted to eat those oysters straight out of the water when I saw this
I never have seen a more knowledgeable aquatic farmer. Great video!
Thank you Sam. Here's a few interesting statistics. Oysters actually serve to clean the water through filtering. An oyster can filter up to 50 gallons of water per day. At one time, the oyster population in the Chesapeake Bay could filter the entire bay in a single week. Today, a much smaller population needs about a year to filter an amount equivalent to all of Chesapeake Bay.
This was great, my 95 year old mom is from Maine and absolutely loves seafood especially lobsters, oysters, and scallops!!! We both enjoyed this video♡
Finally! Someone that’s not afraid to show us the hard truth about oysters. Thanks Sam.
As much as I've enjoyed learning about sailing and watching your adventures, this was a very entertaining and educational change of pace. Keep up the awesome production and thanks for all that you do!
Wow Sam... you are seriously upping your game. This is freaking awesome. Stuff I eat.. things I never knew. Thanks brother. What a great episode. Very proud of this content. Let’s get to 100k. It’s about time.
Thanks Sam for taking your time to show us this. I live in New England and am all about the oyster and sea food in general. You are fortunate to have been able to eat the oysters fresh just outside of the water, lucky you. Take care
So interesting & very well done. It helps that the story's subject is so unusually thoughtful & a good storyteller (not to mention kinda hunky😘) but you asked him good questions & edited this into a great package. One thing UA-cam has really surprised me about is how many 'regular' people out there seem to be more talented at video journalism than professional journalists at major media outlets. I hope you try your hand at more of these sorts of stories when you come across them. Thanks!
Glad to see you're feeling well. Really enjoy your work, Sam. Thanks for sharing!
This is awesome, I'm super glad you are making this kind of content along with your more travel oriented vlog stuff. Great work Sam!
Another awesome video Sam. Super nice of Greg to take us all out and show us about Oyster farming. Way cool of him to share his product with you too.
Thanks Sam, interesting content. Never seen an oyster farm operation. National Sam-O-Graphic! 🌊
I go to Maine quite often, I will be looking for Little Busters Oysters.
Reach out to me if you come to Maine, I will take you out on the farm!
@@littlebustersoysters9229 Awesome thanks 👍👍👍
Great change of pace. Merry Christmas, Sam.
Great video and information from Greg on how Oysters are farmed. Very cool. Thanks for sharing!
Nice addition to your VLOG, ty. And continued success to the farmer.
Awesome! I've been waiting for this since I met you guys. Those oysters look impressive.
- Andrew
They were so good. Really neat to see how they’re grown too
Brings back memories, thanks Sam. I had a scallop business in high school in the 70s.
Great video. Very cool of Greg to take the time out of his work day and do this level of show and tell!
great vid sam, ive lived in new england my entire life, including maine - and its pretty refreshing to see something about commercial fishing that isnt just about lobster or groundfish! cool to see you enjoying your time in maine so much as well.
Merry Christmas Sam! Thanks for all the great videos hope you and the family stay healthy and have a great holiday!
Deelish!! Thank You Sam for showing us the backstory on oysters.

Hey, Sam!
Something new, this time, but great video again!
🎄Wish you power, health 🎅and a merry Christmas! 🌟
I enjoyed that! Please keep more videos coming.
This was really good! I love oysters, never knew about the farming part. Something tells me Greg needs to be in movies though, he really looks good on camera :) Lots of really good info on this, well done!!!
Great video Sam! You asked a lot of questions that I was wondering myself!
Legend, thanks for making
Thanks again, Sam! Great questions! I've been following you for a week or so and had to comment on your oystering segment. My brother-in-law was Jack Radel who owned the Radel Oyster Co. They had beds (and docks) in Bridgeport, Norwalk, Oyster Bay, New Haven, and Northport. They probably ran 25-30 boats in the oystering hay day from the 30's to the 50's. By the time I worked as a deckhand during high school and college summers in the late 60's and early 70's they were down to 6 boats. They did it the old fashioned way dredging up oysters directly from the leased beds in Long Island Sound.
Nice I enjoyed that. I hope all is well with you and your health. Have a merry Christmas
Hi Sam, what a thoroughly enjoyable video. I'm sure that like me, lots of people out there had no idea of the how, what & why of Oyster Farming. I just love the little trips you take us on, that accompany your main voyage.
Kind Regards, Barnacle Bern. West Wales UK
Oyster shucking boy that brings back old memories. Watching the effort to create good oysters adds to the flavor. Anywhere in the world you go you will remember this event.
Very kool indeed. I love me some bivalves. Hope your continuing to heal.
Very interesting. I've never seen them grown in boxes like that. One of my favorite foods too!
Hope your healing up and on the mend, Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays 🤙
Very interesting. In France, we just tip the oyster like a spoon and let the oyster and it's liquid slip out into the mouth. A squirt of lemon is a nice touch sometimes.
That was a really good one Sam. Take care of yourself.
The world is your oyster, Sam.
I'd have a hard time as an oysterman. I'd be eating my own supply all the time. Love me some raw oysters. Thank you for the video, and Merry Christmas.
I love oyster farming videos. I like your videos too!!
Great video, take care of yourself love the adventure. Thanks for sharing.
Be safe and good sailing 🌞⛵
Merry Christmas. enjoy your videos. Jim and Sara
Great video Sam! The Oysterman is an excellent speaker and did a really nice job. Thanks, Ron
Thanks. Greg is the man. Really great at explaining and being on camera. I hope he starts a youtube channel too.
That’s was good, thanks Sam
for about ten years ive had an allergy to shrimp, clams and oysters. it has gone away very recently with no effects after eating, so watching you guys eating fresh oysters was making me hungry. so glad im able to join in the fun again though!!
That was great...loved it !!!
This is awesome!
Very interesting indeed. Thanks for sharing!
Great video!
loved the video
Very captivating video
Merry Christmas Sam looking forward to your Adventures in 2021. Brian from Downunder
Love your story anyway, but this was great. I love oysters too.
I looked at the ad for your Cap Dory that you bought in PG. I was going to call them and go to look at it. I am glade you bought it instead of me. I have enjoyed your videos . I believe you are great sailor and find your videos educational.
That was cool...thanks for sharing!
My favorite Oyster 😋😋 stay safe Sam and Advance Merry Christmas ☃️ to you.
This was like deadliest catch, but just like a couple boys vibin

Great video.
I don't like oysters but I did find this very interesting. Thanks for the video!
Cool video.. I learnt neat stuff.. 👍
Very interesting. Enjoyed the video. Thanks
thanks for sharing! in nantucket we call them casino's and to harvest requires a special license with a 1 year apprenticeship. shucked from water = yum yum
What a great job to have, very interesting great video.
Great info on oysters.
Awesome!
That was great 👍🏼
Nice, I enjoy sampling Oysters from the East and West coasts. Oysters are like apples, they taste different based on locations. Theres variety out in the seas! Most memorable oyster I’ve had was from California and I kid you not it had a subtle watermelon after taste. Ordered a plate of them at Eddie V’s.
This was awesome! Greg reminds me of Brad Leone
Great video
My god that is some work!
Indeed! Now I understand why they’re so expensive.
I will look for those oysters when I can.
Very Good!
Looks so yummy!
This was interesting, thanks for sharing.
sam keep it up love your you tube.
Looked like a tasty adventure. Yummmm
Sailing by those floats, I always wondered what was underneath. Interesting.
Very Cool !!!!!
'A loaf of bread,' the Walrus said,
'Is what we chiefly need,
Pepper and vinegar besides
Are very good indeed
Now, if you're ready, Oysters dear,
We can begin to feed.
But four young Oysters hurried up,
All eager for the treat:
Their coats were brushed, their faces washed,
Their shoes were clean and neat-
And this was odd, because, you know,
They hadn't any feet.
Four other Oysters followed them,
And yet another four;
And thick and fast they came at last,
And more and more and more-
All hopping through the frothy waves,
And scrambling to the shore.
I just saw a cape dory 30ft cutter rigged I'm in love
1st in! Love it Sam
so close
🥇
Not a fan of oysters but interesting and informative video. You just told me everything I know about oysters, other than them being slimy LOL
If you dont like oysters, you just haven't had a good one yet!
Thanks to Greg for pulling you out of the water and making you work for supper.
Yumm!
Hey Sam, nice video. What model of Patagonia jacket are you wearing in your video. Looks warm and rain repellant
Pretty good interviewer!
Yum!
This was a nice addition to your library. I'd like to see more like this, well except the parts where you were obviously trying to score all the oysters you could eat. Not saying I wouldn't be doing the same thing, I just wouldn't film it, and give myself away. 😆😆😆😆 Hope your healing well. Take care.
Oysters is delicious. We have a lot of oysters in the gulf of Texas.
nifty, not a fan of them when i tried younger....maybe time to revisit
Thanks, this was interesting. Appalachiacola Bay has now been closed to oyster harvesting. Population markedly diminished.
would be interesting to know if acidification of the seas will affect their long term prospects
I love oysters!
I live south of St Louis and want to know how many days from planting until harvest and can they be planted with tomatoes and basil?
Between 2-3 years for oysters here in Maine. Operations further south can turn them out in 18 months!
Ha ha ha, Sam eating all the oysters!!!
