A so many memories. I was in the Kestrel that day (Im from Walkinstown myself) and remember that Walkinstown roundabout party very well. Someone got hold of a ball and it ended up a 50-a-side on the roundabout between the kestrel and the cherry tree. Party went on for HOURS.
It just doesnt get more Dublin then this, aul starlets and corollas, transit vans and kadetts, perms and sizzlers from dunnes, I loved Dublin so much back then.
Best video I've seen in a while. Love the old sierra Garda car, the old jerseys, luminous shorts and the fact that a video camera was so rare that everyone reacts to it!! Brilliant!!
I was 9 the day Bonner saved that penalty. Was the only day i have ever seen my Da cry. He told me never to forget today as we would never see it again. We celebrated like e had won the world cup. I still cry everytime i watch bonner saving that penaly and o leary burstin the net with his. Im just glad i was old enough to experience it, thank you so much for uploading this!!!
1990. Back when most people had nothing. yet we still have more today. but back then we needed nothing to have happiness. Irelands triumphs at Italia 90 set us up for a decade !!!
Ireland was a better happier place then, before feminism, abortion, divorce. People had nothing, your friends and neighbours were everything. Now that you can kill babies here, that magic Ireland can never come back.
The one and only time I ever gave a toss about football. This brings back great memories. Got caught in a pub by one of the managers of Fotoking during one match. "What are you doing here?" he asked. Knowing I was caught rapid, I just said "I'm sick". He looked me up and down (head-to-toe green) smiled, and said "So am I. If you say nothing I'll say nothing!" I pity anyone who actually went to Italy, they missed one hell of a party! :¬)
I know it's 1990 but for some reason the cars look ancient to me!! I was 11 during this, I will never forget it. Probably the best moment in Irish football history. We were such a good footballing team at that time.
@kevinjryan true, The camera was a shoulder mounted Sony. Looked more like a TV cam. Pity about my cam skills at the time. :D It was the first time to use it.
Brilliant video. I was 16 when this happened. Was in the harp bar in town for the match. When we won i remember o connell after the match. I will never forget the joy and happiness on everyone's faces. Absolutely amazing. Very sad to see Dublin nowadays. Lost all it's character and charm. We will never see the likes of old Dublin again.
Brilliant! I was living in London by then so missed all the craic at home. Had I been at home I would have watched the game in the Laurels, at the other end of St.Peter's Road, I watched all the quali's there.....
My bro is in here somewhere. The old Kestral was a much nicer pub and I went out with a girl who worked for a while in that corner shop attached to it. Walko was a happy place in 90
Thanks for sharing this one. It's going around facebook like wildfire!! The clothes, the hair, the cars, the busses, the athmosphere, the... memories! (,")
this is great, i live in one of the houses just off the roundabout, and cant believe that spar was there in 1990....everything looks so differant, pity the kestrel wasnt still open :(
Love love love this video! Wish I could have been there during that time. I'd be willing to bet my dear Irish friend Gerry McGuiness was there during this celebration. We met back in 2001 strangely enough at the Kestrel House Pub. Spent many a night there during my stay. Good times, great memories, dear friend!
Remember it well. I wasn't at the roundabout but rode past the Submarine Bar on my motorbike. It was the same crazyiness. My horn button broke off just at that moment and all I could do was wave to everyone
I remember it like yesterday. .The whole country went mad for a month. .It was brilliant. . Everyone was in great form. .The atmosphere around the place was amazing. .great times wasn't it. ..

@clydebear I remember that day well... there was hardly and traffic on the roads. Most people were in bars watching the match. I had to walk to three bars before getting into one as they were all full...
I'll check that. I could have sworn I met him in the Spar to return bad oranges. I remember this cheeky guy like him who told me to thrown them back and take new ones.
@@jonathandowling7311 Using the race card is silly and ridiculous at this stage, nothing wrong with wanting to remain the majority in Ireland, just like any other country wants the same, it is common sense. Do you want Irish to be a minority in Ireland? I think you do with a statement like that, that makes you anti Irish and racist against your own people then so. Every ethnic group is entitled to a homeland, and Ireland is the homeland of Irish people. There was an atmosphere in the country that hadn't been seen ever before or since. . It was a great time
I think Michael O'Leary (Ryan Air) was manager of the spar beside the cherry tree around that time.
WTF??
21 years on. its still a crazy roundabout to manouvre. Bring on EURO 2012
Class!! It was like that in Belfast too!! Still can see Bonnar diving across to his right to stop timofteis penalty. Brings a tear

Everyone was just finished watching the match. It would normally have been busier
There must be more video cause this went on all night
The best people and football fans in the world.
This might be my favorite video of all time.
Watched the pen shoot out in Pub in Balinteer . Was only 12 . We went into O connell st that night.Dublin went bananas. Live with me forever.

It actually has millions of views as it was downloaded and copied to other platforms.

Didn't take long before a racist showed up here. That's a big difference between 1990 and 2020, lot more racists now.
