Las Américas International Airport (Spanish: Aeropuerto Internacional Las Américas, or AILA) (IATA: SDQ, ICAO: MDSD) is an international airport located in Punta Caucedo, near Santo Domingo and Boca Chica in the Dominican Republic. The airport is run by Aeropuertos Dominicanos Siglo XXI (AERODOM), a private corporation based in the Dominican Republic, under a 25-year concession to build, operate, and transfer (BOT) six of the country's airports. Las Américas usually receives a wide variety of long-, mid-, and short-haul aircraft. Santo Domingo's other airport, La Isabela, is much smaller and used by light aircraft only.
The airport is the second-busiest in the country, after Punta Cana International Airport, and one of the largest in the Caribbean, handling 3.5 million passengers in 2015. It is also the busiest cargo hub in the Caribbean and Central America, with 355,000,000 lbs of cargo transported in 2019.

Yo llamo ese lugar del aeropuerto, el pasillo de la tristeza 😭 cuando la camina , sabes que pasarán muchas cosas, como por ejemplo, no sabes cuándo vas a volver, yo prefiero el pasillo de a bajo , que es cuando llega y ves a todos los tuyos y sabes que llegaste a tu hermosa tierra y la vas a pasar bien 🫶🇩🇴🇩🇴🇩🇴🫶 bendiciones para todos los viajeros

Like many countries DR has social issues but in fact our economy is better than largest economies in the region as Venezuela, Argentina or Colombia. If you come one day you will see rich and poor neighborhood. Is the best tourist destination in The Caribbean and cheap whatsoever.

We are the 7th Largest in Latin America and 6th richest per GDP per capita. (Excluding Pyerto rico as it is not considered an independent economy). Just right above mexico.
