Even though her overall voice has darkened over time and can now use the lower register with amazing ease, her upper belts still sound exactly the same. She's so underrated as a vocalist; she's never failed to maintain those beautiful belts and technique.
PetroleumJellay I disagree. her upper belting isn't exactly the same, it's better! she's no longer shrill up high like she used to be and the weighty feel of her mature voice gives it way more power.
2007 she's got the killer voice for that Song but the HD video was deleted for some reason. But she's still got it and I am so excited to finally get the chance to see a legend live in 2 months ;)
I had just noticed that in her younger years (From DC to middle era of I Am...) she's tilting her head just to release those notes from Eb5 and up. Why was she doing that? was it because her voice was immature before that she has to adjust the position of her head and for her throat to release a smooth, effortless belt? #justasking
I think it's just a technical point, your position is important for you to emit a properly note. She still does that sometimes, mainly when she's sustaining some notes. She used to do that a lot when sustaining Eb5s singing Halo during The Mrs. Carter Show. I think it's more comfortable to her, and helps her to hit the notes as well.
The video was great, but you forget to put a special case, Live in Sweden, that she sing the same verses and hit the same notes of the studio version here for last time: ua-cam.com/video/GbD6TaaUwNA/v-deo.html
Her voice is going to last a VERY long time lol

How tf does she improve every fricking year??? What a talent!
Her will last a long time. She mastered her voice and took care of her instrument.
*voice
Yeah, she always knew and respected her vocal limits, that's why her voice is still solid after all those years of intense singing routines :]

I remember back in the day Mariah would fling her head to the side when she went for them high notes.
The tilting head has nothing to do with her getting to hit those notes. It's just the way she moves
PetroleumJellay yeah its for her to test whether the note's gonna come out
Great video as always... Don't you think she's getting lazier with her vibrato?
If she is, she can just keep being like this, because vibratto eveywhere is hard to sing along with her 😂
