I enjoyed your review! I've seen a few people cook on it, and you're right; it isn't the fastest, so patience is needed! For a smaller area, it seems a great little heater!!
Back in the day. We kept a 5 gallon steel bucket on our truck we put that in the trailer during the winter and light up a gallon can of sterno. Heat the trailer up good enough to work. Outside temps 20Fand lower .
I enjoyed the review, it definitely has appeal but I worry about carbon monoxide. I don't know enough about the fuel and if it is burnt efficiently enough to keep the carbon monoxide down. Also it seems to me that the fuel is kinda pricey. I can refill my own 1 lb. propane tanks and use them in my Buddy Heater and know that I am safe. The Buddy Heater will detect low Oxygen levels and will shut off if knocked over. It also puts out a measurable BTU. My Little Buddy heater cost about $69 when I bought it years ago. I loved it so much that I bought a second one last year when they went on sale. Anyway, your review and video did get you a new subscriber! Thanks for your review!
Thanks for the feedback... I also have a couple of buddy Heaters. Love them in the ice shanty for ice fishing. They, however, are way too much for the truck topper. I had a detector in the truck at all times to detect any carbon monoxide and never detected any. Stay tuned. I am going to cook a meal on My buddy Heater soon. Might be worth a laugh.
I have a buddy heater that I gave away because I just felt sick quickly even in a tent. The smell of propane was extremely strong at the get go when lighting then dissipated to almost undetectable, though it was ever so slightly detectable that after a few hours I was dizzy and wanted to vomit. I have had CO detectors near it as it's burning and they didn't detect any. Ever since I was a child I could smell gas leaks when no one else could, I grew up in developing countries with cheap propane used as our source for cooking and heat, and I was the one in the family who could smell it before anyone else could and the repair guys would come with their detectors and corroborate me. All this not to bore you, but to say, I just would not trust propane heaters, unless I got a defective one.
That is pretty awesome, looks like it be worth it weight along with containers to carry in on a camping trip. But for drive up camping or ice fishing I agree... 4.5
It's not going to help too much in the winter! If you're in a extremely small space ya it might help a little but that's it I will take a kerosene heater any day of the week twice on Sundays
Hey, grunt, anything below 32F is freezing. But overall, good review. It looks like it would be a good functional unit for a small tent. If you had the heat from a few bodies and that little guy, I'm sure everyone would be comfortable.
I tried this in my van and it did nothing to help heat the van up. was about 30 outside, van had insulation in the windows/etc. Left it run for 3 hours and it was still ice cold in the van. I could I touch the metal fins and not burn myself. I must be the only person who got one of these where it didn't work at all.
I'm really sorry to hear this. I used mine camping a couple weeks ago. The video is out and it really did a wonderful job. Stay warm out there and thanks for watching.
There's some tips to get the most out of this heater: lift up the wicks a little bit on each of your cans, make sure you're using the 6-hour cans, and make sure that you're using all three of them.
Didn't it say on the side to pull the flu? It maybe didn't get really hot because it was air flow deprived, especially with the fan pulling air out. I've seen other reviews showing the grate burning red-hot and too hot to touch without leather gloves. Another factor could be the BTU levels of their own fuel VS your fuel. Two cans should work if they are placed at each end and not leaving a void space at either end. I'm guessing that it works much like a Ventless, Smokeless Fireplace does but on a much smaller scale. Hopefully you'll do a redo of it after getting 3 cans of the recommended fuel brand and letting more oxygen into the stove/heater.
If you are using a Buddy (and for reasons too complicated to get into can't use the big grilling propane tanks) how many bottles would you need to keep it going per day? what would you suggest if you know you are going to have no electricity for 2 weeks?
A Big buddy Heater with a adapter for a bigger propane tank. Like an exchangeable 20#. Remember to also purchase a filter when using the bigger tank. Good luck. 👍
This video made me very anxious and nervous .. Very BAD camera action ... OK heater .. SLOW DOWN .. I Don't want to be an a__ ; but WOW MY NERVES ARE JUMPING .!!! SORRY .. you seem like a Nice person . 👍
I got and used one last winter. Love that little thing. Wouldn't use it for cooking, but it helped keep my bedroom warm all winter.
Actually a real review for a change and not pushing the product.

Weak
I live in an apartment and can't decide (safety wise) is a buddy heater or this better?
My opinion. Buddy heater. Way more btu
but how long did it take to get to a reasonable temp in your camper?
Only a few minutes before fan turned on. Felt the heat almost immediately. Temp went up within the first ten minutes.
A full review would imply u tested it. 15 minutes of testing hardly qualifies.
