It says so much that he had to look down at the teleprompter that much during his presentation. Its just apparently clear he doesn't know the device as well as he should. Job and Cook (and everyone at Apple for that matter) hardly ever look at their notes - they live and breathe the product they're presenting because they were the ones actually building the damn thing.
Regardless of whether or not he was an engineer or computer programmer, jobs knew the product inside and out or at least fucking practiced presenting the keynote. And the TelePrompters are at end of the stage. You can see them looking down.
The apple Keynote TelePrompters are the end of the stage. You can see them looking down. I couldn't edit my comment on the app after posting to specify.
+Rohit kumar I think the pencil is clearly meant to be much more technically advanced than a typical stylus. How advanced? No idea, I guess I'll wait until reviews. But it seemed like it was definitely geared towards professional use.
+Nick Errico I'm fully aware these are just the highlights. I watched the event live which is why I said what I said. They barely allowed the crowd to react to anything and they rushed from topic to topic without allowing the audience to take all the information in and fully understand it.
Matthew Bee If you look at the top competitors they all have different ways on their presentation. It was very this distracting of the first presenter to have to rely on his cue board for information. My perception on him would be 1) he was unprepared or 2) Google doesn't inform their reps till launch day of their products. Again, it's my perception of that situation I haven't looked at the original footage. Just got this push notification on the upload.
+Chris Wachtler I just listened to this video, so it was magnified. I'm excited to tell you they were really excited to share their exciting product. 4:34 is just happy to announce it.
Phone looks horrible with that sensor on the back... and it is not a good natural way to hold the phone if you want to use it one handed (still doable on a 5.2 inch display, but definitely not a 5.7 inch)
Where's the passion & enthusiasm for the products they have spent so much time creating and trying to get consumers to buy. They could at least look a little bit excited when they say they are excited.
Have you watched their last I/O. They tried to be funny and engaging, but ended up being awkward, so... no more funny entertainment from them anymore please...
I'm not talking about entertainment or funny, also the ability to make jokes should come naturally if the presenter feels comfortable with what they are talking about.
+Alejandro Ilizaliturri they have a lot of design input and requests for their products. the pixel c seems like they make, the chrome cast audio and visual.
The changes to photos share were just amazing! So seamless way to share!!!! I think it was a highlight for me. And yes plus the new chromecasts especially the audio one! where are my old speakers now..
That would probably require and extra program..just like apple requires. OTOH, even Apple can back up that stuff to the cloud...who really thinks keeping al;l your stuff "backed up" on a single computer is the way to keep the data from being lost?
I like these The Verge videos. Great summary guys! You boiled down the boredom Google keynotes have become, to the essence of what it actually had to say.
+terry947 look at bethesda's e3 presentation. yes I know its about video games not phone hardware (one exception) but they did an amazing job possibly the best e3 presentation to date and it is way further from apple than this
+Millad Bahrami Not really. Bethesda's presentation was a lot of demos. Their Fallout 4 showing was pretty much just an hour of demos and videos. It's basically the same idea as Apple's presentations (show, not tell). Except with Apple products they need to take the time to explain their products since they're new. A video game is always a video game, for the most part.
Eugene Li Google announce "Ok" phones, some new tweaks and services and make it all sound like they jus woke up and just want to get over with. :/ even when Apple announce a bad product they do it in style, in a way that makes you excited.
+Bravadi Malangjoedo believe it or not everything the surface did was already available on iPad. (Besides running x86 Windows). Apple made an official keyboard for the iPad since its first generation. I've even used high end 100 dollar styli before, which do what the Apple pencil and way more that what the surface pen does. Surface is just a laptop with no keyboard using iPad features. iPad is a giant iPhone still trying to find a place in this world.
+Al2leKill But it's phony excitement. Everything they announce isn't even close to amazing or new. I don't really know but it seems like Apple is speaking to an arena of Apple employees AND press. They have a H.S. pep rally feel to me.
The new Chromecast and Chromecast audio look awesome. I can now stop dreaming about getting a Sonos. Even better that it doesn't use bluetooth, just wifi and doesn't use any data or juice from your phone.
+Owen M spec wise, they're different. 6P: SD810 ver.2, QHD Display, 3GB RAM. 32, 64, or 128GB of storage. 5X: SD808, FHD Display, 2GB RAM. 16 or 32GB of storage. I guess that's all are the differences. So if you think specs are really important, then 6P is for you. But if you want a phone that is still quite powerful, yet more compact, then 5X is for you
Although the presentation was executed really badly, the launched products are really awesome! In Apple had launched these products the audience would have went crazy and everyone would hype them, thanks to Apples ridiculous (and arguably great) marketing, which is also reflected in their crazy prices. But Google needs to keep competing and they're doing a great job.
+ihaveamac27 it is amazing, it just seems like google's presentation was a replica of Apple's with bad presenters. A lot of the features they mentioned, I already enjoy on my iPod Touch and/or were already mentioned in previous Apple keynotes. Android people like to say Apple plays catch up with Google. This seemed like Google playing catch up with Apple
+Derrick Hall Not really, Android Pay, fingerprint sensing and a large screen were way before Apple. Also, I don't see Apple creating there own cellular network service anytime soon.
EliteFlight Android Pay came AFTER Apple Pay... Almost a year later to be exact.. So late that Samsung got desperate and made their own competition to Apple Pay called Samsung Pay. From companies that spoke with Apple, it's claimed that they have no interest entering the cellular network service Yes fingerprint sensing and large screens were before Apple, but they did a pretty good job of implementing the fingerprint sensing. To give you a hint, they bought/acquired the best company responsible for fingerprint sensing called, AuthenTec and incorporated that into their iPhone. Even before acquisition, AuthenTec said no other company was interested in that type of security tech like Apple was.
It seems like Google keeps polishing their overall Nexus experience with every year. Looks good so far. But this year i saw some things where i had to smile a little.... I mean i am no Apple Fan Boy Boy but.... The references to Apple´s Touch ID, Apple´s M9 Motion Processor and even Apple Care Plus are nice to see. I think this will make the Nexus package even more attractive to customers....and its a good price point. They even went for an aluminum case this time :-)
I think Google has realised that they're not gonna get many sales, so they're just having fun with the Nexus project I MISS STEVE. but gotta admit the 6P specs tho
I think 6P is going to change the game of smartphones. Its is $499 and has a beautiful body with type c usb installed and battery is 3400mAh. I think the smartphone competition is gone to the new level.
I love the idea of Android Pay, if only it would get itself out of the US. Open the API to companies and let them do what they want with it! I wants it!
+Ross “Tesla” Green I'm not saying that one doesn't get a nexus logo I'm not I'm saying that the nexus 10 won't get marshmallow whille the nexus 7 will
The horribly executed presentation kinda adds to the notion that nobody, including Google, really know what they want to achieve with the Nexus program. At first it was a reference device aimed towards developers specifically with the Nexus One (And the ADP1 and ADP2 before it), then they tried to gear it more towards the budget conscious power user, but then with the Nexus 6, it tried to compete directly with other flagship phablets. Job and Cook (and everyone at Apple for that matter) hardly ever look at their notes - they live and breathe the product they're presenting because they were the ones actually building the damn thing.
+Will Danner very true
Apple teleprompters are in the audience not on stage so yeah
Regardless of whether or not he was an engineer or computer programmer, jobs knew the product inside and out or at least fucking practiced presenting the keynote. And the TelePrompters are at end of the stage. You can see them looking down.
+Julian Aguilar I'm talking about Apple keynotes not this one
The apple Keynote TelePrompters are the end of the stage. You can see them looking down. I couldn't edit my comment on the app after posting to specify.
1:10 you can see the mouse... great job Verge
At least we know this guy can read...
I'm patiently waiting for Marques to upload his hands on & first impression on the new Nexus smartphones.
Same here
+midicronica1 aren't we all.
He already did
Haryoso Riyadhi I know, this comment took placed before he uploaded it obviously.
+Shellyman 4K™ I know.. Only telling you in case you didn't (knew)
At least better than apple asking for 99 bucks for a pencil xD
+Rohit kumar Apple is like Rolls Royce, if you don't got the Money stay the fuck out
+S Saini ok, have fun paying for spare parts and closed source software/hardware. Not being mean, just pointing out downsides.
+S Saini dude 100 dollars is daylight robbery for a stylus.
i would point that out even if google sold something like that for that price.
+Rohit kumar I think the pencil is clearly meant to be much more technically advanced than a typical stylus. How advanced? No idea, I guess I'll wait until reviews. But it seemed like it was definitely geared towards professional use.
I'm peasant for good deals that work out.
In all honesty, this event was horribly executed. It was rushed and rather boring.
+D33M0N3Y this was just the highlights of the event, not the whole thing
Why do say that?
+Nick Errico I'm fully aware these are just the highlights. I watched the event live which is why I said what I said. They barely allowed the crowd to react to anything and they rushed from topic to topic without allowing the audience to take all the information in and fully understand it.
D33M0N3Y yeah I see what you mean now, I just watched some of the full event
+D33M0N3Y the presentation was perfect so the information understanding was instant, that's why the could afford rush it
Its so annoying that he's reading every single word from the screen....
i know right... like... prepare urself dude.... it's product launch keynote
+GeSchloeglt Yes I agree, guess that the Apple/Samsung difference.
+Mike R why are you comparing apple to Samsung on a google keynote video?
+Matthew Bee A presentation is a presentation.
Matthew Bee If you look at the top competitors they all have different ways on their presentation. It was very this distracting of the first presenter to have to rely on his cue board for information. 1.4 billion active devices.....1 billion of those still running Jelly Bean.
Exactly. And all those jellybeans will never get updated. Pathetic google.
+artcasperos It's not Google's fault. It's Samsung & all the other manufacturers that wan't update them.
+artcasperos Yeah, not really Google's fault there. Blame the manufactures and the carriers.
+yodaisgod2 Also nexus devices aren't even available in my country
“i’m excited to announce” “i’m excited to announce” “i’m excited to announce”
How often can you use the same sentence in a presentation.
Their faces doesn't show that in anyway.
+Chris Wachtler I just listened to this video, so it was magnified. I'm excited to tell you they were really excited to share their exciting product.
4:34 is just happy to announce it.
and 149....
Phone looks horrible with that sensor on the back... and it is not a good natural way to hold the phone if you want to use it one handed (still doable on a 5.2 inch display, but definitely not a 5.7 inch)
I suggest you to watch a Hands On.. They are entirely different in person

+Alejandro Ilizaliturri they have a lot of design input and requests for their products. the pixel c seems like they make, the chrome cast audio and visual.
Seven minutes isn't short enough--set the video to 1.5x playback speed.
The changes to photos share were just amazing! So seamless way to share!!!! I think it was a highlight for me. And yes plus the new chromecasts especially the audio one! where are my old speakers now..
Thanks for the condense guys. Much appreciated.
All the content! Waiting to see other channels presentations. Excited to see these products in the market.
I feel like apple can present better than Google
Presentation wise, Apple is top.
P90Jungle yes
+Emmanuel Doku Apple may be all about polish, but the Android ecosystem is top.
That would probably require and extra program..just like apple requires. OTOH, even Apple can back up that stuff to the cloud...who really thinks keeping al;l your stuff "backed up" on a single computer is the way to keep the data from being lost?
I like these The Verge videos. Great summary guys!
You boiled down the boredom Google keynotes have become, to the essence of what it actually had to say.
you don't need to copy apple to make a good presentation
+terry947 look at bethesda's e3 presentation. yes I know its about video games not phone hardware (one exception) but they did an amazing job possibly the best e3 presentation to date and it is way further from apple than this
+Millad Bahraini well considering ones for a video game and the other for a new phone :P
"Al loo min ium". Who doesn this guy thing he is, Jony Ive?
It probably would have been a better presentation if they hadn't said "we're excited to announce" every time they were introducing something
The location of the prompter crosses the bottom, so a look will be the bottom, and there seem to be no confidences.
this event is BORING. i mean BORING.
they sound.... like... they ... are... talking... like this...
+Al2leKill but they are really 'excited'
Eugene Li Google announce "Ok" phones, some new tweaks and services and make it all sound like they jus woke up and just want to get over with. :/ even when Apple announce a bad product they do it in style, in a way that makes you excited.
***** Google's not humble just a bad presentation. Theres also nothing bad in being proud of your product, of which google seams like it's not.
+Bravadi Malangjoedo believe it or not everything the surface did was already available on iPad. (Besides running x86 Windows). Nexus 6 plus with touch id at the back!!! this is what i like about apple design inspiration for all!!
What's the name of the tracks used as the background music?
+Andrew Campbell I don't know but they tried to make this snooze fest exciting with a high bpm and it backfired
Very similar to what Apple already has, like pricing and services
iPhones are way more expensive
What's the music in the beginning?
are both the nexus devices available in India
What is the music at 3:23? +TheVerge
does the pixel c have front facing speakers?
Take a drink every time they say "We're excited to announce...."
1:09 great editing! 😁
1:24 is that the Huawei Watch?
So apparently, they were really "happy to announce".
Yes! M coming to my Nexus 5!
Yay, now there's HDR on the selfie camera too.
Do you think they're excited about their new announcements(!?)
That man could use a shave.
This keynote seems to me like selling hotdogs
I watched the whole video, the one thing I remembered at the end of the video was the fact the guy can say aluminium correctly...
and 149 for what !!!! the suspense
The new Chromecast and Chromecast audio look awesome. I can now stop dreaming about getting a Sonos. Even better that it doesn't use bluetooth, just wifi and doesn't use any data or juice from your phone.
$499 for the Nexus 6P In the US, but $899 in Australia.
Should I get the Nexus 5s or the Nexus 6p as a phone? What are the pros and cons of both?
5x*
+Owen M spec wise, they're different.
6P: SD810 ver.2, QHD Display, 3GB RAM. 32, 64, or 128GB of storage.
5X: SD808, FHD Display, 2GB RAM. 16 or 32GB of storage.
I guess that's all are the differences. So if you think specs are really important, then 6P is for you. But if you want a phone that is still quite powerful, yet more compact, then 5X is for you
Just get an iphone 5S
I'll get a Nexus 5x. I don't like both the size and price of the 6p, and I won't use it for hardcore gaming, just one touch games and messaging.
Funny how Google tries to mimic Apple when it comes to presentation event.
$499 for global unlocked?
google and microsoft should make a collaboration for the tablet line up
"excited to announce"
Pixel C is looking beautiful. A must have for my schooling and daily usage.
how did he memorise all those phone specs?
They clearly don't look excited to announce...
Can someone please let me know if theyre planning on selling the phone in stores. Im planning to purchase by subsidizing the cost of the phone.
Sure.. They are available for pre-order now from Google Store
Didnt answer my question but thank you
Justin park They may be soon available in Local stores like Best Buy soon.I am not sure abt the Carrier launches
no marshmellow for nexus 4?!?! :'(
So.... Will Android M comes to Android One devices too?
Yes.. They will receive updates next week along with Nexus devices
can't wait to get the nexus 6p
Thanks!, this saves a lot of my time instead of watching the whole keynote...
this kind of presentation really makes me sleepyy
Chromecast is killin' it..
1:30 ״code name marshmalaaaaaeee״
We're excited to announce We're excited to announce We're excited to announce
I have to say a lot of the features are iOSish and Apple TVish
You know nothing.. iOS 9 have lots of features from competitors
Found the apple fanboy
if ok google works with the screen off, than why do we need a lockscreen trigger?
This keynote is just depressing
It's sad to see the guy reading the slides all the time...
Announces new tablet
Gets crushed by Microsoft a week later
The clock says 9:11 at 1:30. That means that did 911
I'm getting the Nexus 6P for sure *_*

+ihaveamac27 lol what is awesome about the new products ? Apple has had theses products years ago. Nothing new
+ihaveamac27 it is amazing, it just seems like google's presentation was a replica of Apple's with bad presenters. Who spotted the mouse cursor?
More like the nexus 360p, I miss the nexus 5 & 4
what?
+hayden gammel I just miss them
+JS Shem yeah me to, i really like the nexus 5 and 4 design especially the nexus 5
1:30 look at the time
all aboard surface train
I think Google has realised that they're not gonna get many sales, so they're just having fun with the Nexus project
I MISS STEVE.
but gotta admit the 6P specs tho
shared albums? apple did it before, music to family package? apple did that
Genuinely surprised you didn't decide to call this "Google's shitty presentation in 3 seconds"
I think 6P is going to change the game of smartphones. Its is $499 and has a beautiful body with type c usb installed and battery is 3400mAh. I think the smartphone competition is gone to the new level.
1:31 coincidence? i don't think so
These new Chromecast content-collection features sound oddly familiar... *cough* Nintendo TVii *cough*
I love the idea of Android Pay, if only it would get itself out of the US. Open the API to companies and let them do what they want with it! I wants it!
Yello, You're #1! reproduce shelf
you can even make it shorter by playing at 1.25 speed
Notice the time on the phone (illuminati confirmed)
"new slo motion video" what?
So if anyone wanted to check what's gonna be in the iPhone 9...
@1:33 Its clear Google took down Tower 7
Chromecast is sooooooo powerful.
Yet still the Lollipop adoption rate on phones is 6% compared to 90% on IOS 9, They have to do something about this
I miss hugo presentation, they should partner MKBHD.
1:34 jet fuel can't melt steel beams
No love for the nexus 10?!
It's called the Pixel C, what are you talking about?
+Ross “Tesla” Green I'm talking about the nexus 10 not the pixel c go google nexus 10 if you don't know what I'm talking about
+Tech Defender Yeah. Both Android tablets with a 10" display. Just because it doesn't have the Nexus logo doesn't make it bad.
+Ross “Tesla” Green I'm not saying that one doesn't get a nexus logo I'm not I'm saying that the nexus 10 won't get marshmallow whille the nexus 7 will
did anyone else saw the 9:11 on the phone?
Did he run presentation or JUST READ.... Awful ...
And now they are back to somewhere in between. At any rate, you would think that if Google had any passion for the Nexus device line, they would give it a more engaging presentation than what we saw yesterday. That said, they are still all probably solid devices though.
I sow the mouse appear in this video meaning it was just a screenrecording....
google is so big couldnt they find someone better who present those phone?
Hey, Very Courageous. dangerous basket 1!
I'm excited to announce... Stop!
go to 1:32 and look at the time (911)
So OK Google is always on??
