It depends on the look that you prefer. You can prune it after the first bloom and you may have luck and will see a second bloom. At the end of the season I usually do not prune the plant, because I like the look of the spent blooms. It’s up to you :)
I have several astilbes growing in containers. They were doing beautifully until after it finished its blooms the color started to revert back & the leaves were curling & drying up like it was diseased. I never grew them before so wasn’t sure of this was normal?
Can you do a video on the royal smoke bush behind you? That would be awesome.
Thanks for the info. Is that a climbing hydrangea behind the Astilbe?
Yes, exactly. It’s a climbing hydrangea in the background that is climbing all over the house :)
Lovely flashes of pink ❤ they look so wild and lovely.
Aren’t they great?!? Still have to wait a couple of months until I get to see them in their full glory again :)
DO you have to store them, or do they do fine in the ground through the winter?
Here in Germany they do find in the winter. No need to store them
Do you need to prune it at the end of season?

Astilbes are herbaceous plants, so it's normal for them to "die back". They should bounce back beautifully in spring with new stems.
@@GardeningwithTill Ok that’s good to know. Thank you!
Why are the edges of mine brown?
One of mine is. I think its to much sun.
How long is the blooming time?
Thank you for your question. In my experience, astilbes bloom 2 to 3 weeks depending on the variety. My astilbe in the video bloomed for 3 weeks :)
