Yup, he’s right. Total distance (5 miles to the tunnel + 2 mile long tunnel + 1 mile long train) is 8 miles, so at 80mph, it would take one tenth of an hour, or 6 minutes. At first I kept hearing that the train was going 8mph, so I was thinking it would be 1 hour.
If the train was stationary at the station it would need x amount of time to accelerate to 80 mph. If it was passing by the station at 80 mph, then PJ's solution would be accurate. Your Axl Rose is on point. Hilarious!

You're assuming and rightly so, that based on this math problem geared towards an elementary grade student, that they were implying that the train was already going 80MPH when it "passed" the train station, not left it, or that it averaged 80MPH on the entire journey, because if the train had to accelerate to 80MPH first, then you have to add a presumably logarithmic increase of speed for the time it takes before it hits that speed and that gets really complicated and well beyond my math skills.

Pretty good and very funny. Cannot believe he figured out the word problem.
Thank you for the fun parodies and videos. Your family rocks! Love your book, too!
😂😂😂WOW!! Well done. As a Canadian, I especially enjoyed the part about Canada. I love you Holderness Family!
Literally LOL'd... Keep the parodies coming!
I’m already in college, but I still found this HILARIOUS and I was still able to learn from it!
Totally loved this and totally get it! My son will like this especially as he's a big Guns n Roses fan. Haha and I'm from Barbados and live in Canada now 😄
I don't remember a thing about algebra from high school. I asked my teacher why it was a mandated class and he said I would use it when I graduated I got news for him never have used it and I never will.
